  1. I wanna tell you 'bout meteor radio and the big beat Comes out of the heatblur swamps Cool and slow with plenty of precision With a back seat narrow and hard to master Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance..... J.M.
  2. Thanks Matt, I will try this mission next, however, my post was about the mission you posted last week in the Caucasus :) Any suggestions on that one?
  3. I have not had any success with the HARM mission that Wags posted last week - (Caucasus F/A-18C AGM-88C HARM) What is the best way to approach this mission? Has anyone done a video tutorial for this particular mission? Also, any references on how to evade SAM's would be appreciated as well. I found that Chuck's F/A-18C Guide, contains the RWR codes that show up on the EW display and/or HUD, which helps a bit in identifying some of the threats.
  4. Your offer to make the DCS videos was for a good cause, so thank you. However, a more nuanced and patient approach to your DCS session would have been a better way to go in my opinion. It would have been helpful if you took a bit of time to learn the controls and maybe fly a bit before recording your video. Doing a start-up, taxi, takeoff, pattern and landing following normal F/A-18C NATOP procedures would have been much more useful. Watching you jackass around in the sim was not very beneficial or entertaining. The video really came across as disrespectful to Eagle Dynamics, the DCS Community, and your wingman. ED has put a tremendous amount of time, effort, and research into the F/A-18C. Additionally, the DCS Community is very passionate about Aviation, and really appreciates feedback and insights into the real world aircraft. They are eager for in-depth information and procedures. The majority of DCS fans are not real pilots, and flying DCS Modules is as close as they will ever come. Those of us who have flown real aircraft, and especially those of us that are privileged enough to fly for a living would do well to keep this in mind.
  5. Game Freeze Had a game freeze while flying the F/A-18C on the Persian Gulf map. My original aircraft slid off the carrier deck while taxiing so I jumped into my wingman's aircraft which was airborne. I flew and completed the mission which had AA and AG. I returned to land at Al Minhad airbase and was getting lined up on final, when the game froze. I was playing this mission through the Mission Editor, and I should add that it was a mission I created. I changed name of file dcs.log to dcslog.txt. Change it back to the original. I was unable to upload a .log file. DxDiag.txt dcslog.txt
  6. Where can we download the latest version of the Manual? Is the up to date Manual included with each Viggen patch release?
  7. Here is the information you are looking for: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221584
  8. Are these bugs going to be fixed? They have been present since the initial early access release of the Viggen over a year ago.
  9. Thank you very much Matt!
  10. As one can see from the posts in this thread, there is a lot of misunderstanding, speculation, and confusion regarding the flight model. This is exactly why I started this thread in order to get official comment from Eagle Dynamics. Lex and A.E.W have both stated in their YouTube videos that the flight model seems off. IvanK on this forum has stated similar sentiment and said that the developers are working on the flight model. All of these guys were real F-18 pilots. There has only been one update to the flight model that I am aware of, which was back in June. So, it would be really helpful if we could get official comment on what is going on with the flight model. Everyone that has been flying the DCS F/A-18C needs to be aware that we have become conditioned to the current flight model, whether or not it is correct. Just because we have adjusted and compensated while flying the sim, does not mean that we can assume that it is correct or accurate. - Thanks again
  11. Matt and/or Developers, I really appreciate and enjoy your update videos, however, I have not seen any official comments regarding the Hornet flight model. Will you please provide an update on the current flight model status? Is the flight model considered complete at this time, or are there still outstanding issues that are being worked on? Since the early access release, there have been numerous posts and speculation in the F-18 Forum regarding problems/issues with the flight model from customers. I have also seen occasional responses from SME's indicating that they feel the flight model is off, and that the Developers are aware of issues with the flight model. The June 13, 2018 patch update contained this fix - "Fixed the behavior of the aircraft when flaps extended from the AUTO to HALF/FULL positions." However, this doesn't really explain what exactly was changed, or what the perceived problem was prior to the fix. Obviously, the flight model is the most fundamental "feature" of the DCS F-18, so it is a bit curious that there has not been any official comment or update on where things stand. Based on the number of flight model posts in the forums, I bet a lot of your customers would appreciate an update and in-depth discussion of the flight model from official Eagle Dynamics sources. Thank you.
  12. In order to avoid all of this confusion, it would be helpful if Eagle Dynamics added the Magnetic Variation for each DCS airport to the F10 map view - airport information section.
  13. I am with you..having same problems. Also, what is the best way to obtain Magnetic Variation for the DCS Airports....google?
  14. Force of the blast lifted tank onto building -
  15. Taxi/Landing Lights are to bright for the lighting conditions. These screenshots were taken on the Persian Gulf map with the latest patch.
  16. What is the procedure for installing downloaded add-ons, such as the NTTR VFR ground textures? I have read the documentation, however, it is confusing. Do add-ons go in the Add-Ons folder or in the Data folder? Also, there is no Static Objects folder for .xml files. Should I create this folder?
  17. I have had it with the imprecision of my CH Products Fighter Stick and Pro Throttle. The reason I haven't upgraded already is due to a space issue. On my gaming desk, the Fighter Stick and Pro Throttle fit perfectly on a keyboard tray sized area - 9" depth and 23" wide. I am wondering what Stick and HOTAS you guys recommend for this size space? I am interested in controllers of very good quality that will allow me to fly the F/A-18C and A-10C with precision. Also, which Rudder Pedals would you recommend for a wood floor? I don't want them sliding.
  18. I am also having issues with steering on the deck. Single mission, carrier moving at 27 kts. Just want to add, that I experience problems steering on the deck after landing.
  19. Ok, if 1 and 2 are not bugs, at least explain what is going on with these issues. I posted in the Forum to get assistance on these issues.
  20. I have several issues, which are viewable in the attached track: I created a single player, air-start mission in the Editor using the Persian Gulf Map. No wind, 29.92 and 15 degrees C My hardware consists of a CH Products Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Rudder Pedals. All controls are recently calibrated in the CH Control Manager. I don't have any dead zones or curves set on my hardware. 1. Auto Trim does not work. My aircraft will not maintain level flight. As you can see in the track, I am trying to hold 800 ft. I am only using the Control Stick to climb and descend, and did not touch trim during the entire track. Once I get the aircraft at 800 ft, I release the control stick, and you will see that the plane either climbs or descends. 2. HUD data is cut off and not completely visible. Cockpit resolution is set to 1024. 3. Brakes are partially set on Mission Start. AXIS are inverted. I am not sure if Items 1 and 3 are bugs or just related to my hardware. I did previously try using small deadzones and curves on my Fighterstick, but it didn't seem to make a difference. F-18 Pitch Instability.trk
  21. The first two screenshots are of the Left DDI, the third shot is of the MFMD which is working correctly.
  22. I have had the same issue since the EA release of the Hornet. Will post a screenshot, when I have a chance.
  23. I have found that in order to get the Auto Bombing mode to work correctly with a waypoint set as the target, it is necessary to edit the waypoint elevation in the Mission Editor. For example, if waypoint 2 is my target, this waypoint should be edited to reflect the actual target terrain elevation such as 20 ft. MSL, rather than the aircraft altitude at that waypoint location such as 7000 ft. MSL. In reading through the Quick Access Guide, Chuck's Guide, and watching Matt's YouTube videos as well as others, this was never mentioned. Did I miss this information somehow, or have others found the same issue?
  24. I have an MSI Raider X99A motherboard, with an Intel i7 5820K 3.3 GHz 15M LGA 2011 CPU. The Corsair 650 w. power supply is about 2.5 yrs old. I am considering purchasing the MSI GTX 1080 ti Gaming graphics card.
  25. Is a Corsair CS650M (650 w) Power Supply adequate to run a 1080 ti graphics card? The Nvidia specs. show that a 650 w. power supply will power the 1080 ti, however, I am wondering what your practical experience is with this hardware in DCS.
