Bill & John - Ep II : Danger Attacks at Dawn

Superb!! Not certain if this was done on purpose, but in the English sub-titles "leather" was spelt "Pleather", a merging of pleasure and leather? Jim -
Tacview - ACMI for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs
JimMack replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Excellent, many thanks. It would be nice to have an option to change red for blue and vice versa, as OwnForces are usually shown in Blue. and OppFor in red. Jim -
I have been testing the Z800 for training FACs. The following is a personal opinion, and to get a valid view we would need to do group testing with double blind trials (ie one group is trained with the Z800 and one group without). For the FAC on the ground, the Z800 works well, despite the 800x600 resolution. The advantage is that one has spatial awareness, i.e. look left and up, and you see left and up. For the pilot, I am not so sure. For BVR, the low res makes reading instruments and HUD a bit difficult. For ACM it is effective, except that one loses the "centre position" after a lot of quick head movements, but this may be caused by the way it has been calibrated. For CAS, the low res is a problem, and it will be interesting to test the new Z1300 to see if there is a significant improvement. Jim

Tacview - ACMI Software for Flaming Cliffs
JimMack replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ribbon View Congratulations Vyrtuoz This is an incredibly useful tool for after action review. I am sure that the feature of "Ribbon" view is in your wish list. This is a particularly useful option for analysing close quarter ACM. See right hand side of attached picture. Jim -

Virtual Blue Angels BIG Movie - Get it here!!!

Could you let us know when it is on your site. For some reason I can never seem able to access patricksaviation. regards Jim -
Many thanks for the all advice, I'll try the Teamspeak route. Jim
-
Would appreciate some advice. The requirement is to record the calls/comms of all players in a multiplayer mission. Replay along with the associated track file. Have any squadrons worked on this or have a solution? Presumably whatever one uses for voice recording (Teamspeak?) has to commence simultaneously with the start of playing back a track. Jim

At the London Air Show at Earls Court on 21-23 April, visitors will be able to take part in the Breitling Challenge featuring Flaming Cliffs head-to-head F15C. (http://www.londonairshow.co.uk/index_flash.php). (see Show Features) Not certain if there are any prizes, but UK members here should have an edge! Jim

Hi Cosmo, Your track file of F15v2Su27 is very helpful. If you provide an explanatory voice-over I'm sure Ironhand would put it on his site. Jim

Very many thanks - that is very informative. Jim

3screens - 1 PC : possible solution?
JimMack replied to bflagg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Matrox card supports 3 screens, and has been used for the last 2 years in the LockOn Breitling Challenge, see screenshot. Jim -
Just to reinforce the point. If you want your movies to be played in public, then you must use copyright free music, or copyright music where you have been given permission to use. Andrew_McP created a Tornado movie that did not use copyright music. As a result it will be included on the CD with the next issue of the UK magazine PC Pilot - readership of over 12,000. In addition there may be opportunities for parts of movies to be included within TV military/historical documentaries. I had such a discussion only last week with a TV company. Jim

The Black Shark manual will not be able to be added into the Flaming Cliffs Manual. Reason is that a "clip back" manual would have added even more to the cost. We are looking at options for a hard copy Black Shark manual, that covers all the aspects of flying the Black Shark. Maybe we can get it into a simple 32 page manual, where we can get the cost down to a minimum. Jim

A spiral bound manual for Flaming Cliffs should become available next week. Allows you to read both pages flat on the desk! It will cost around $24.99, and will initially be available from GoGamer and Simware. The content is exactly the same as the pdf manual in the documents folder. It is a lot easier to use then the 260 pages of printout! Jim

To get ships to carry out indirect fire, make sure that there is an AWACS in the mission. They will fire on the nearest active target. Unfortunately bunkers are not active. regards Jim

Track with Voiceover: A-10A_Campaign_Mis002
JimMack replied to Ironhand's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Rich, My sincerest compliments. You have made a quantum jump for training. Not just teaching the mechanics of usage of avionics and weapons, but now in the decision making process during a mission. It's better than any military teaching aid I've seen. Strongly advise any mud-movers to look at it. Bravo Zulu. Best regards Jim -

How to activate native headtracking for Z800 HMD?
JimMack replied to Bubuman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Activating Z800 To activate:- In Flaming Cliffs Graphics Option set 800x600 Ensure that cockpit mouse is set to TRUE in the LUA file. I'd be interested in your opinions in using the Z800 regards Jim -
Many thanks Witchking, that is very useful. I should have asked the question 6 months ago! JimMack

Agreed, this is a great video. Unfortunately we have never been able to use it in public because it uses soundtracks that are covered by copyright. Does anyone know how you can strip out a soundtrack from a .wmv file and substitute another, without going back to the source .avi file? Or any other solutions without losing the original graphic quality? JimMack
