Hi, For some reason when I start my DCS World Open Beta v1.5.6 the icon to log out (I am automatically logged in) at the top of the main menu is missing. Choosing any of the options on the right, e.g. Mission Editor freezes the game and only CTRL+ALT+DEL can kill it. Clicking on the Module Manager symbol at the top shows no modules installed and an option to log in but clicking that and then following with my login and password does nothing. It seems the problem is in the fact that the game doesn't log me in. Unfortunately, I cannot even disable the licenses to reinstall the game :/ Any ideas?

That's exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Hi, I'm not sure this question belongs in this forum sub-group but there is no unified "released DCS WWII aircraft" thread and since it concerns all four available airframes I'll just leave it here. I'd like to assist my friends who are only just starting their adventure with DCS with information and guidance but I know very little about the dogfighting techniques and manoeuvres from the WWII era. Could you please quickly describe the pros and cons of all 4 WWII aircraft that are currently available in DCS? Which one is a "Boom & Zoomer" and which should choose the Turn Fight? Which is better at accelerations and which excels at climbing? I know the easiest way is to buy all the modules but unfortunately it won't be the case. At least, not yet.. Knowing the overall characteristics of these WWII aircraft will allow my fellow pilots to purchase the correct "tools for the job". Thank you in advance!

Switching from active to passive target tracking
Belphe replied to Belphe's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Gentlemen, you've been very helpful. Thank you! -
Is there any way to determine if the currently radar-tracked (but not locked) target remains detected by the EOS after I disable the radar?

I wouldn't know.. Never happened... ;P

Anyone else is excited about the announced changes to the Su-27 in 1.5.5? From the Newsletter: - Incorrect indication of fuel quantity when start in air has been fixed - Flight control system with AOA and G-limiter has been adjusted - Autopilot has been adjusted - Tires strength has been adjusted The second interests me the most..

Hi, I upgraded my PC and installed ASUS Maximus VIII Formula Z170 ROG motherboard. When installing my devices I also decided to run a firmware update on my HOTAS Warthog. Unfortunately, having the Joystick connected to USB 3.0 port it failed and it is showing as [bOOT] Hotas Warthog Joystick - Firmware: 0... I've been reading about the potential fix for two days now and it pretty much comes down to plugging the device into USB 2.0 and running the firmware update again. I found that my motherboard has an on-board USB 2.0 connector into which I have plugged in a 2-port USB extension. Unfortunately, all I'm getting during the update is the Main Firmware progress bar go from 0 to 100% four times and a red cross of failure... I have opened the joystick and checked if there were any obvious signs of mechanical damage but it all looked good to me. What's worth mentionong is that the Throttle works fine and updated correctly to firmware ver.23 even being connected to USB 3.0 port. I am no expert but I suspect this to be 99% software vs. 1% mechanical issue. If I could only get the device from being HOTAS Joystick Bootloader to a Joystick - HOTAS Warthog... Please, if you have ANY ideas share them with me. Your help is much appreciated. -Belphe

Have you ever felt like you just wanted to escape from work through the nearest exit, start up DCS and just go up there, flying..? Hi, Does anyone know how to setup the APU START/OFF switch on the HOTAS Warthog (or any other switch on any other joystick system) to work the same way as the ASC Direct Control switch in the real Su-27? I'd like it to work like this: APU START (switch up position) -> ASC Direct Control enabled APU OFF (switch down position) -> ASC Direct Control disabled I hope it can be done without T.A.R.G.E.T.... Thanks!

Make sure your throttle is at 0 when you press RAlt+Home & RCtrl+Home. I learnt that if the controls are no perfectly idle I cannot start the engines. ... or if switch off the "Synchronize Cockpit Controls with HOTAS Controls at Mission Start" in the Options -> Misc.

Yesss!!! I'm not mental!!! :D PS. Check you you haven't got any double controls assigned. I literary had to redo the axis setup as my rudder was controlling my pitch... Despite all that, after a second go I also find the roll behaviour to be a downgrade from what we had... :/

:pilotfly::joystick::thumbup: EDIT: Please, ignore me - I guess I must be finally learning how to fly... ;)

Whatever I change here the Su will pretty much always be at a disadvantage, e.g.: if both aircraft had to fly a similar distance to the combat area the Mirage might be half-empty vs. ~a quarter empty Sukhoi. PS. I just had another session with this scenario and I admit I have only been downed once. Even then, it was due to the enemy ramming me (!!!). The "pissed off" factor is indeed at the maximum with these French pilots... ;) I mean, how often do you find NPCs in DCS fight even when half of their wing is missing?! The computer operated enemy is so eager to get a firing solution on me that it often chooses to abandon all reason and embark on a suicidal quest to land his rounds on me no matter what!. It's a bit crazy, don't you think?! Either way, I learnt that the "trick" for me is to be extremely aggressive from the very beginning and get the kill after the first turn-around. If I fail at the initial attempt the Mirage's advantage grows quickly and I bleed energy no matter if I'm trying to kill him or trying to stay alive. My enemy makes climbing after sharp turns look like child's play...

I set both aircraft to start @50%... Seems reasonable and realistic...

Thank you! I'm no ace but I was starting to believe it was worse than I initially thought.. ;)
