Heatblur F-14B VFAT Demonstration Multicamera
Belphe replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Just watched it - awesome video and some new light shed on how the Tomcat will fly! Something I noticed: as the speed brake is deployed @5:05 one can see in the lower right screen that there are some "faces" missing (flipped normals ?) in the model and the beaver tail is transparent. Hope this gets fixed ;) -
".. Our QA team is flying the F-14 for hours each and every day. .." Can I join the QA Team and why not? :) Awesome update! Thank you for your hard work!

What's his first name? Ahh yess....

I am still in shock! The reveal was OUTSTANDING! I loved this bird all my life and knew what to expect but what I saw still surpassed my expectations... As to the release, Heatblur website states this module will become available "in winter". I'm probably wrong but it so happens that winter starts December 21st, the same day the Tomcat had it's first maiden flight in 1970. It is also a Friday... ;)

I simply cannot wait for Sunday... and beyond! I'm counting down days and gluing a 1/72 plastic Tomcat model in the meantime. I'm also reading a few books that recently "came in the post".. :music_whistling: Here's my collection so far. I'm quite proud of it but I'm sure it's still missing a few good ones. Let me know if you can suggest any! :pilotfly: See you Sunday! :joystick:

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
Belphe replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Outstanding work! A dream from my childhood is coming true!!! -
Hi, Just like you I'm enjoying the Hornet and counting down days until next update every week. Amazing work ED! Can't wait for the future! However, as I'm trying to "steal" the knowledge from the Manual and various Guides I could not find any information on the below. Please, take a moment and help me understand the issues listed: 1. Is it possible to set Rockets to fire continuously one by one while the trigger is depressed (I'm dreaming of a 3-second 150+ rocket salvo...)? 2. Various weapons display RCTL on the DDI when I enable MAN MODE. This can be modified in the UFC. What is it and what does it do? 3. Following the Unguided Bombs Delivery instructions from the manual I often (always?) get DUD on the HUD. Unfortunately, I found no explanation what is means (apart from the obvious meaning of the word) or why it appears. The bombs detonate as normal. 4. In the CCRP unguided bomb delivery MODE (or AUTO as named in the Hornet) I place the Target Designator on the ground and I'm able to move it with the hat switch on the Throttle. However, the precision of this movement leaves a lot to wish for. I'm aware that this is a very primitive method of designating a spot on the ground but is it supposed to be so imprecise, e.g. trying to tweak the designator's position within enemy ground formation with a single hat switch tap usually moves the designator outside of the formation. Also, the designator seems to drift off from the initial spot as time goes. Please, confirm if this is working as intended. 5. Last one is not really Hornet related but I might just get away with it.. ;) I was watching a reply of my landing in Lar AFB using the "Airport Camera" view (F12?) and zoomed in on my aircraft with "Right CTRL *". However, to keep my plane in sight I had to manually move the mouse which made me lose track a couple of times. Is there a way to have my aircraft centered in this view so that I can smoothly watch my landings? Thank you for reading!

** Let There Be Thrust! F-14 Development Update **
Belphe replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That's it! I won't sleep tonight... :pilotfly: -
Thanks. I will. With the VV I meant it's position in the vertival plane: should it be dead on 3rd wire, far edge of the boat etc..
-
Yeah, I know but setting it on speed aoa is where the curves were messing me up. Also, I'm not sure where my velocity vector should point at the very last stage of landing. I watch the ball but VV is more precise, more "up to date".. I've heard people say to totally ignore it but then again Chuck on his guide is saying to "aim for the 3rd wire" which I find impossible to do using only the ball... I just wish my landings suddenly got better..
-
I have been struggling with Case 1 landings for the last 4 days only to discover that I get better results with the pitch and roll curves at zero (linear controls). Anybody else prefers this or am I a freak? So far I've been using 15 15 but crosswind leg and setting the Hornet on-speed AOA was a mare..
-
Ah, so the AIM-9M on the Hornet, Warthog and Tiger II are identical?
-
In today's patch notes we can read (in the Viggen update - not in the General DCS World 2.5 update): "Reworked overall Sidewinder seeker behaviour." Does this mean that each of the developers makes "their own" version of a Sidewinder, Maverick and PaveWay?!
-
My God.. and I'm still struggling to get Case 1 right...
-
Now that the Spit is done could we get this bird updated?

AIM-7 Performance
Belphe replied to HawkDCS's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I was waiting for someone to start a thread about this as I wasn't sure if it was me or the SIM.. I have the exact same experience! I launch 4 7Ms one by one and NONE of them even follow the target that's 7nm away! Please tell me its a bug and not the actual Sparrow performance.. -
Could the TDC on the Hornet be mapped to HOTAS Warthog's Slew Control?
-
Correct - they lean forward to see the bottom portion of the HUD better. As it stands now in DCS we need to duck to see the upper portion..
-
Maybe it's time to make an appointment for a" reading with understanding" test? ;) The HUD is clear. It's just too big to fit in full on the glass display.
-
Thanks. However, since the HUD text is not scalable one would have to sit really close to see it all.. :/
-
Hi, I decided to try the A-10C in VR (Oculus) after some of you reported the HUD has been fixed but discovered that it was not the case, at least not for me. The default seat position is making the upper half of my HUD invisible. I have to significantly lower my head to see the symbology now. Before it was the lower portion of the HUD that I wasn't seeing. I obviously tried moving my in-game seat up and down and resetting my Oculus' default position but it is not fixing the problem. I have made no modifications to any of my DCS files as this is a fresh install. Please, assist or at least tell me you're having similar issues. Thank you!

Great Job! Are you planning on continuing your work with the module and adding proper engines and cockpit in the future?
