TARGET mapping Warthog dual triggers for Dora
Belphe replied to Belphe's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Thanks! For some reason, after enabling T.A.R.G.E.T. my combined input column for Warthog HOTAS in DCS was greyed out last time I checked and I was unable to map any buttons. However, it was OK now so I managed to do it the "old fashioned" way for the triggers. I am using T.A.R.G.E.T. for pretty much everything else so I was hoping I would be able to keep the whole Dora mapping in a single T.A.R.G.E.T. file. Oh well... The issue this software is having is the fact that it cannot overwrite the currently depressed key with a second one unless the first key is released. As you know, the first stage trigger on the Warthog is not released when the second is getting pressed. This way I was stuck with 131 fire only and no 131 + 151/20 combo available. I tried releasing the 1st stage with a TARGET command prior the second stage which was delayed by 100ms (otherwise it was malfunctioning) but that 100ms was bothering me so I suppose your solution is better - I get instant fire from both guns as soon as I press my trigger all the way. Thanks -
TARGET mapping Warthog dual triggers for Dora
Belphe replied to Belphe's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
OK... Does anybody here use T.A.R.G.E.T. with the Dora? If so, could they please tell me how they have their triggers set up? Thanks -
Hi, Not long ago I finally became a happy and proud owner of all 4 WWII aircraft in DCS. I started playing around and comparing their effectiveness and performance setting them up in identical scenarios one by one with gun tests being the obvious favourite.. I did a bit of research on the weapons these aircraft carried and the ammunition they used. Unfortunately, I was unable to find specific information about the ammo mixes simulated in DCS but I manged to put all other findings in a spreadsheet (calibre, rate of fire [no data on how the interrupter gear is affecting it though..], muzzle velocity, ammo count, number of guns [doh!] and some types of shell). I read that the German HE rounds were a couple of times more effective than those used by the Allied but I found it a bit tricky to put "a couple" into Excel so I decided to runs some in-game tests. I set up a lone, friendly B-17G and shot it down a few times using all four aircraft one by one only to discover that... there was NO difference in the amount of time needed to bring the bomber down. The burst length was the same (1 - 2 seconds) no matter if I was using 6x .50cal on the Mustang or 2x131 & 1x MK108 on the Bf109.. I found it very confusing as I read articles saying that e.g. the 2x 131 & 2x 151/20 on the Focke-Wulf required roughly a 15 - 20 -second burst to shoot down the Fortress compared to the Bf's 3 - 4 seconds (thanks to the 30mm cannon). Could anybody tell me if the B-17G's damage model is even simulated? Does anyone know if the WWII aircraft in DCS differ from one another when it comes to the "overall" firepower? Which one is considered the weakest and which strongest? Thanks for reading!

No love for Dora... as a matter of fact, no love for anything apart from the Hornet lately... :/

Hi, I've been trying to create a Dora TARGET profile for Warthog with my primary and secondary triggers enabling MG131s and MG131+151s respectively but due to the fact the primary trigger is set up as "HOLD" (MG131s fire as long as you hold the primary trigger) pressing further through the secondary trigger doesn't enable the MG131+151 combo as for some reason DCS can only have a single button pressed in "HOLD" state at a time. So, to sum it all up: Primary Trigger === RCtrl+Space === MG131s Secondary Trigger === Space === MG131s+MG151s Holding Primary Trigger and then pushing if further to the Secondary Trigger doesn't enable it's action (as it is busy executing the Primary Trigger's operation). Can anything be done to make them work like when they're mapped in-game? Thanks!

Hi, Could you please suggest guides, videos, books and any other materials that could help learning how to efficiently use Boom&Zoom tactics in DCS? Thank you in advance!
-
The real problem is that after the first hit the rest starts to move..
-
Thank you all for help. I think I achieved what I wanted AND also learnt a thing or two! Much appreciated!
-
Yes, I am. :)
-
Markpoints - of course! <facepalm> Thank you for explaining this to me.

Hi, Is there a way to edit a steerpoint created by pressing TMS Right Short? I find my steerpoints not precise enough after cycling through them from a different position. I'd like to be able to edit SP "B" and overwrite it's coordinates instead of creating a new one. Thanks

Outstanding Work! Thank you!

Yes, I know. That's why when I make the TGP SOI again (after putting the Maverick in the Force Correlate mode) it should realise the Boat Switch is centred and give me the "normal" image.
-
Hi, I noticed that when I leave my TGP in either White-Hot or Black-Hot mode, then make MAV my SOI and trigger Force Correlate (Boat Switch Center since it's in one of the outer positions --> Boat Switch forward/aft - it either and finally --> Boat Switch Center) and then go back to the TGP the image will still be either White-Hot or Black-Hot depending how I left it? Shouldn't the TGP image be reset to Normal? Thanks

I am blown away more and more with every update.. Simply outstanding!

Hi, Is it possible to allow both Blue and Red sides to rearm and refuel at the same home base? Thanks!

Two weeks, right?! :D Thank you ED for this news!

That's fine! I thought I postponed tonight's flying be a couple of hours! :D

Funny thing... I was downloading the newly released 2.5 via torrents. Apparently, the files were 25gb. Unfortunately, I hit cancel....... and had to move to http source. All of a sudden the sim grew to 47gb... Is this a different method of compression that caused such big difference?
-
I got more than I hoped for. Thank you!
-
Hi, What is the closest to reality gamma setting in 2.5 according to you? Thanks!

I feel privileged to be part of this. ED - thank you so much for making my childhood dreams come true..

Exactly, especially "it's better because I say so" explanations.. I also agree with your second statement: real life =/= DCS. As to the cockpit visibility factor Su-33 has an advantage, again..

I am still torn between these two fine birds. Which one is the better dogfighter (even though none of them is supposed to serve this role)? Which one can stay on the edge for longer? Which one can cross it and come back victorious? I have observed ten consecutive "guns only" expert-level AI engagements won each time by the Su-33 over the Su-27 equal in weight. I am aware of the fact that the AI is cheating in DCS but doesn't the fact that they both are make it irrelevant? Fighting an expert-level AI F/A-18C made me feel much more "able" in the Su-33 despite of what the public (you) is generally saying - that the Su-27 should be superior in such abstract engagements. The following came to mind: - Thanks to the canards the Su-33 is capable of pushing and maintaining stability at higher AoA. - The marginally more powerful engines allow it to "hang" in the air for that little bit longer in crucial moments. - Increased weight allows the Su-33 to accelerate faster in a dive. - Bigger wing surface makes the Su-33 achieve a lower stall speed. I know I'm asking for much but would anyone be willing to test both aircraft extensively and present their findings? Ideally, two pilots on similar level dueling for an evening or two.. I'm up for it if anyone fancies to join but my skill is rather mediocre...

DCS-Su-27 Operator's Manual for A-A Combat
Belphe replied to ITGCVerticle Charlie's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Does this affect Flanker's adversaries as well (e.g. F-15C)?
