Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Chibawang replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Oh, I see what you're saying now, doesn't really seem like a problem though. If you're already going to the trouble of making a stick extension, you might as well add a larger housing to the base if it's really needed. And if you're putting this in a cockpit you would probably want to build one to match the real thing anyway. -
Well, at least the euthanasia story was imaginative! I mostly just get spam about penis enlargement supplements.

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Chibawang replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm not sure what you mean, but the flash ad said "This is the end of the era of gimbals and potentiometers!" So apparently it doesn't use gimbals, or am I reading this wrong? Also the metal base plate is detachable from the electronics housing. At first glance, the Warthog definately seems more cockpit builder friendly than the original Cougar  -
Your Tips on avoiding AA missiles F15? thx
Chibawang replied to majapahit's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It's funny because it was an exploit commonly used in FC 1.12. ECM now has a warm up period in FC2. Also, missile avoidance only takes two buttons: CTRL+E-E-E. ;) -
CCIP and CCRP A10 Training Video's?
Chibawang replied to Kurtz's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You shouldn't be pressing anything for weapons release in CCRP, just fly through the cue and the bombs will fall automatically. -
I would hardly say the M60 is useless in CQB, but again I'm not complaining. Anyway, looks like tweaks are in the works: I can't say I'm pleased about the M1911 being mucked with...

I'm still on the fence about the medic. It's definately a very effective infantry slayer, which seems wrong but it's a good way of getting people to actually play the medic. However, the M60 can quite easily be used to snipe and I think that has to go. I can live with the damage being higher than any other gun as well as the magazine size, as long as it's accuracy is somewhat reduced. In any case though, I think the medic spam will die down as people start to max the class out. It's just the fastest class to rank hop with, so of course everyone's using it early on.

X52 Pro, mode 1 not working
Chibawang replied to Panzertard's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hmm, bad rotary would be my guess. If your warranty checks out send it back, otherwise you've got a DIY-PITA. -
While I agree that it isn't groundbreaking or anything, it's still alot of fun. I mean, what did you expect? My main complaint would be a lack of teamwork and communication on most servers. It would be great to get a squad together with people from these forums, we should trade info and get a game going! My handle is D Wheezy, feel free to add me.

Complete with 6 DOF computer terminal!

Was there a need to be rude and elitist? No. Modifying files in this manner is a completely different affair from discovering exploits/ways to circumvent server restrictions. While I am not interested in this mod personally, I've seen alot of posts complaining about the lack of FLIR etc. in the KA-50, so apparently alot of people are and I see no reason to cut someone down for taking creative liberties with their own sim experience. Also, and I hope I'm not mounting too high of a horse here, but why do you capitalize every other word in your posts?

Perfect stick for A-10C from Thrustmaster?
Chibawang replied to some1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry, but alot of people disagree with you, including Thrustmaster. Nonetheless, it doesn't have to be thought of as strictly Hog specific. Both the stick and throttle are used in several different aircraft, they just haven't been paired together in anything but the A-10C yet. So... what's unappealing about using a FCS that is an exact replica of some of the most modern and advanced aircraft available? I'd much rather use a well built replica of the A-10C's battle proven FCS than an X52 kind of controller, even to fly the something completely different like the Black Shark. Anyway, that's what Logitech and Saitek'a new controllers are for; can't us rivet counters have atleast one replica hotas manufacturer available on the commercial market? -
Sounds like a great option to me, especially if you are confident in your programming abilities.

Very nice photography indeed, especially when viewed on the iMAX screen at Eglin AFB... :shocking:

Fair enough, sorry for the derail.

Hilarious, and I think we've all had that guy bid against us at one point or another. You definately get my nomination for LOLz of The Week. -
Collective/Throttle movement reversal
Chibawang replied to hollywoody's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Good point Prophet, it is a bit awkward at first, especially if you're used to fixed wing flight. For my taste though, I like to pull up. Yes, it's how a collective works in a real helicopter, but the important thing for me is that it just feels right. Pull up to increase lift, push down to descend. It helps me to visualize the forces at work on the airframe. -
Yea, I tried copying your settings over to LOMAC but something got lost in translation: namely, bad popup with buildings and whatnot. Perhaps the clip values aren't as appropriate in a jet as they are in a helo?
-
Really great stuff Frazer. Before this guide, I had to choose between ugly visuals or close to unplayable performance on the more complex missions. This gave me a substantial fps boost but what really impresses me is the clipping/lod values. They are a nearly perfect balance of situational awareness and cpu optimization for KA-50 missions. I know from experience that is anything but easy to accomplish, so a huge thank you and rep inbound from me! Have you done any significant tweaks in LOMAC? I'd love to have a peek at your graphics.cfg... ;)

Excellent clip, well done.

Interesting find, can someone on the team comment on this?
