  1. It was a dark overcast day but you can easily land atop.
  2. OK, I can understand that - makes sense.:) Is there a distance correlation to the % reduction? i.e. does 50% = 10 Nm or 25 Km or something like that?
  3. Interesting. I landed a UH-1 on the dam and it looked like it was on the surface. I did notice that the top surface of the dam over the watergates seemed to be a bit raised - could see grass underneath…less that a meter…
  4. Great news! Tiyas AB was also where the USSR deployed Soviet Naval Aviation Tu-16s during the Cold War. Usually just a pair. One would come out every 3-4 days to conduct a Maritime Patrol over the East Med. In 1987, my squadron (VF-32/F-14s) got an intercept on one looking for the carrier. DCS doesn't have Tu-16s…but substitute an Su-24 Fencer, jump into a Heatblur F-14…it would be the same thing!
  5. The building is there in the scenery and the top looks like it could e a helipad. It doesn't have the "H" or other markings…try to land and see what happens.
  6. As long as it covers "34/34" (34º00'00"N / 034º00'00"E) - and it does - we are good to go. Back in the day, that was the carrier's MODLOC.
  7. This you meant 57 26 15 E. I do the same thing … always have to stop and ask "which side of the prime meridian?:)
  8. I've done some research with the new NEUTRAL/WHITE side. It is very interesting. Is this where I would post my results?
  9. I have noticed this too. I’m following the DCS 2020 manual exactly. No embarking menu items. Broken in the latest updates (using DCS 2.5 Beta)
  10. Me too…or "Me ninth" about now.
  11. I realize that this is an old tread. The ELINT database is a great tool. There other day I flew a mission and got a pretty good location for an SA-3…except it was an SA-2. The ELINT database was evidently written before the SA-2 was introduced into DCS 2.5 beta. Does anybody have the data for it?
  12. FYI - Over a year old but an absolute gold mine of cool knowledge! Thanks to all.
  13. I saw that in the latest stable DCS World release log…the heck if I can figure out how to do it though. Does it work in SP? Or just MP?
  14. I fond what I was doing wrong. I also tried my possible solution to the RENSA issue…it did not work. Other than turning off the generator and battery in flight (not advisable) I have no other ideas. That said I think tracks can be overwritten with new tracks.
  15. I thought RENSA cleated the whole computer so, I'm with you. That should have worked. Perhaps try unload/reload the data cartridge and then reinitiate it (the 9099 "airfield" entry). That said, you are way beyond me. I cannot get even a track. All I get is M1 vs M1 (minding the italics) I've started by going line-by-line with the procedure in the manual. Then tried a slightly different procedure I found on this forum. I also found this in another post: 1 - radar on A1 2 - SPA mode see ship (blip) on radar 3 - T1 - get crosshairs - move over blip 4 - TV then T0 5- L/MAL then B1 Nothing happens - stays M1 Thoughts?
  16. If I had selected "Guided Bombs", assuming LGBs - it would have required the targeting pod (which I voted for) and probably ground radar…but GPS bombs are also "guided bombs" and they don't require anything more than some features added to the map display…so…ATFLIR Targeting Pod it is!
  17. A great video. I am late "discovering" this feature. his tutorial is the most comprehensive! Well done! One small issue with the last section of the video. The box drawn on the F10 map needs to be parallel to the Latitude and Longitude lines on the map. You may notice that the lat/long lines are a bit "slanted" for this area of the map. It has something to do with where the map is centered and the projection used. It is an issue we sed to face in the real world with paper charts. For this, the easy fix is to rotate the screen shot to make the Lat/Long lines straight up/down/left/right. :)
  18. I would be interested. Please see my portfolio on my YouTube page - esci Flightsim Publications The promo videos for Pilate's Ghost and OP TOM are fully developed videos, the others are quick videos meant to highlight one aspect of a project. All are FSX however I am fairly well versed in DCS. Enjoy :)
