OK - MY thoughts on the v1.1 Copy Protection
Nomad replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just reading all these posts I see that most ppl who are complaining have no clue whatsoever. Just thinking of this whine about SF being installed with a free demo ("omgplz" etc). If you'd take your time and done some minor research you would find out that this is in fact a part of the SF protection. This is done to prevent pirates from using similar but not encrypted demo files to crack those in the release version. -
How many times have you installed LOMAC on your system?

See how another thread turns into anti-starforce flamewar. Sigh. -

v1.1 demo and object pop-ups AND StarForce
Nomad replied to KaBoNG's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Slightly OT: why do people even whine about SF in the demo? I know why - they've got no clue what starforce is all about. Pls read first and you will have no such questions. -

Its funny how everyone suddenly becomes paranoid about their PC security bla bla etc when they find out that omg! "mah caputer is getin spaiwarre". Well, if you are paranoid, you should have firewall, antivirus updating every 5 minutes, use all these tools to scan for malware/spyware every 2 hours, anonymous IP's, all windoz patches bla bla etc... and then you wont have any problem with SF either, right? The funny part though, is that this has happened before with lots of different software (say, steam for example) and a lot of people who suddenly became so passionate about their security and "would never buy a malware-infected product" didnt even have antivirus/firewall running... And finally... if you are so rich that you have money to upgrade your PC with newest hardware every 2 weeks (and again, thats major upgrade, like mobo or CPU), then why is buying or mailing ED to get new code such a huge deal?? -
Air to Air Missile Flight Physics and Logics, Take two!
Nomad replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yeah, Hard meneuvering is the way to go, but it doesn´t always work, you have to bear in mind you assume you know where the missile is by the F-15s radar emission power, but what if he turned away because he saw that big big smoke the R-27ET left, instead you didn´t see no smoke from his 120, it´s pretty tough to gain a tally on the missile without padlock. Also it is that Hard maneuver or nothing, if you didn´t time it right, you are toast. I guess you dont quite understand what I mean. The SPO-15 will always show you where the missile is because it has its own radar, and what the F-15 is doing has absolutely nothing to do with it. Hence you dont need to look for any smoke from his missiles. You will see a lock and launch warning followed by a rapid increase in emission power. That means the ARH missile is on its way. You just need to do what i desciber above and make a sharp turn towards the missile when its about 85-90%. And I dont see how, considering all this, is it possible to time it wrong?? -

bleh. Its very easy to defeat a single AMRAAM fired from a close range like say 10-15 km. Lets say you see the F-15 or know where he is at the moment the amraam has been fired. Lock him up (you do have time), fire something like an ET and turn so that the missile is on your 3 or 9. Watch your speed, so that it is about 1000kph. Fly straight for a while, until the emission power thing on the SPO-15 shows 85% (2-3 lights left). Then bank towards the missile and pull the stick as hard as you can, and release some chaff. In most cases the aim-120 will just pass you, you might even see it from your cockpit. Simple as that. And you arent turned with your 6 to him, so you can attack him. Ofcourse if he fires multiple amraams, then you are in trouble, so you should always fire at him as early as possible. -
There is one thing I dont like - when you lock someone in any mode other than BVR, it doesnt display the speed of the target :x.

v1.2 Poll Market Research Poll - Ka-50 or F/A-18?
Nomad replied to Dutch60's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
agreed but don't forget the MiG-21. Yeah, it would be really useful against those F-15's with 8 amraams  . -

Personally, I have absolutely no interest in any western aircraft. However, others do and it would definitely bring more people to Lock On, and give a possibility to make more complex online missions and such. But for myself only I would prefer Ka-50 or another Russian aircraft, like MiG-29K. -

Soviet uberjet-27: codename Flanker. -
The demo was released prolly because many people were on the way to become completely nuts waiting for the addon (look at this thread ;)). They just let their servers be overloaded, rather than mental hospitals..

I had the sticky keys problem too, and when it happened even the joystick didnt respond well. I also use profiling software (foxy 4.0) so I cleared all auto assigned commands. I dont think its causing this though. Yeah, also when it started I set all my graphcis setting to low, with no effect at all. However, after I've restarted the demo, the bug was completely gone and I never got it again (have been playing it for about 3.5 hours). One more thing I've noticed is that some functions are missing, for example cockpit lights wont turn on and trim reset doesn't work either. Or maybe the lights arent supposed to switch on when its light outside :?.

Actually, I think pay-to-play is a fairly good idea..

Flares are sooo ugly without shaders, and its harder to see them at long distances...

Multiplayer server killer bug, warning pic included
Nomad replied to 169th_Moose's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Actually it looks quite cool, when the server crashes this fire appears, like if someone has nuked it . Looks quite logical to me, keep this bug . -
and so do you =) hehheh

we would love to participate.

there is only one really good tactic when you see a MiG or Sue, and it can be explained with one word: EJECT! :D

Народ! помогите решить проблему с вариометром на МиГ-29
Nomad replied to RAFshade1387's topic in Общее Обсуждение
