I read somewhere that timeout must be set on both server and the client. Your 512 mb can cause this because the loading times get very long.

There really is no difference between seeing a message pop up and bringing up your stats window and checking whether u got a kill or not. It just tells you who killed you, which I think is good.

Maybe setting timeout limit to a higher value would help? its in config\network\config.lua

Pay, download, reinstall 1.0, install 1.1, download texures/movies, install, uninstall alltogether, install 1.1 again (yeah, my bad - I screwed up a couple of cdds files without making backups). Never asked for any additional activations, did the first one and forgot about it. Perfect.

Просто надо держаться подальше от жен ПВО-шников! А ваще если дать ПВО себя сбить, восстановиться и потом взлететь опять то больше лезть не будет. Часто бывает что ПВО начинает стрелять если поменять команду не перезайдя на сервер. Тогда можно быть почти уверенным что обстреляет. Хотя оно и логично - хто так просто вдруг меняет команду если не шпиён? :D

Duh. Lots of ppl who still dont understand. I feel that I have to say this. For you slow people: Installing SF with a demo is one of the protection routines!! This is done to prevent hackers from using demo files to crack the release version. So dont get all excited over SF being installed with the demo.

Oh, sry, I mean have fun with 1.01 :D.

1. The demo is protected to prevent pirates from using certain files to crack the release version. Thats probably how they can break the protection normally. I remember my friend who had Hitman cd a few years ago. And they've had some similar protection system, he had to activate it with the cd-key bla bla. I couldnt get it working on my comp. But I've had a free demo on some cd from a computer magazine. So I took the hitman.exe file and copied it over to the fullversion folder. And guess what, it worked! Now thats just a simple example, but you get the point. 2,3,4 etc. I dont want to repeat what has been written in about 3-4 other threads by many clever people, so I recommend you just go and read for yourself. But remember, you are always running a risk of getting malware/spyware/viruses bla bla etc by simply connecting to the internet! Some things can reduce the risk, but its always there ;). And again, if you dont like SF, well then have fun with 1.02, no one is forcing you.

And many dont. Actually I am quite informed. Not sure about this particular thing though, but I remember that mass-hysteria when Steam was first released. And many ppl were talking about security/trojans/spyware bla bla etc. Valve was going to monitor their private lives and all those terrible things. So I asked around a bit, what type of protection they had from other similar things, and guess what... most of them had nothing. Just trying to tell that people often do get over-excited about something like this, without actually thinking about it first. Just because its fun to write flame-posts on forums? :)
