  1. to make the hat look like an axis... maybe it would be possible using ppjoy to create a fake joystick and then map the hat buttons to it's fake axes using glovepie expressions. just an idea, maybe it would be possible.
  2. i have done that to my cougar, 'cause it still has some center play (it's very sensitive near the center). note that i did not set any deadzone in the stick. i have set the axes curves so that they're not straight lines anymore.
  3. me too. pirating anything you mean, right? i'm done here. good talking. bye.
  4. man, looks like we'll never agree on something. :smilewink:
  5. maybe we can put them in UPPERCASE. that would help for now.
  6. premise: i user "their" road systems. conclusion: i'm a freeloader! that's what i meant from the beginning!
  7. well, this is what i have learned so far... regarding the hardware: 1. use a hotas controller. 2. use rudder pedals. 3. use a head tracking solution. 4. setup the graphics for performance (maximize frame rate). with regard to learning: 1. if you're new to helicopter sims (as me), try to learn how this type of aircraft works by reading books, manuals, articles, etc. 2. read the flight manual cover to cover. 3. watch others flying (demos, youtube videos, your mates). 4. learn the start-up/shutdown procedures. regarding your flying time: 1. always remember to retract/lower the landing gears. 2. learn, practice and use the trim function often (to me, this is key as proper heel and toe in racing sims). 3. learn the HUD and use the flight controller position indicator, RCTRL + ENTER (very useful when trimming the controls). 4. practice hovering, using the hover function and doing smooth movements with the controls (remeber tai chi). 5. when not in cruise flight or hovering (that means maneuvering), disable the heading hold function in the autopilot panel (it will reduce at least 50% of the fight against the chopper everyone is talking about). regarding practice: 1. have a flight plan and do your best to follow it (i like flying along roads, pursuing trains, or doing laps around an imaginary circuit established before takeoff). 2. always monitor your aircraft's state, most importantly attitude, airspeed and altitude. 3. do your best to bring that chopper back home without too many scratches (be safe). some of these are part of what i think is the best to learn this game, while others are tips from the pros (mostly collected in this forum). after almost 4 weeks after buying this sim, i'm still focusing on the flight simulator and i will leave the combat part to when i feel comfortable in the cockpit. hope someone benefits from this. cheers!
  8. mine are in russian! :( did a quick search, but could not find the english ones. but what about font size? thanks for the tip!
  9. well, you deserve it!
  10. yes sir, i can!
  11. i mind. after all, if their function is helping us out, why not make them more accessible? maybe ED can change this in 5 minutes. also, it would be great if i could enable/disable them... the more i know about the cockpit, the less i need them, to the point i won't need them at all. both the large fonts and shortcuts ideas are really appreciated!
  12. maybe that's the most important one after correctly trimming the aircraft.
  13. he was talking about the treeware version :D
  14. man, you're really into it, right? i just start priffinity and leave it's window open. then i launch dcs. when the launcher switches to the desktop, dcs.exe always chooses 1cpu affinity. i just click "auto set" and let dcs.exe load the game.
  15. then the enemy captures you and you have to escape the fortress... :megalol:
  16. sorry but now i'm lost again... can you please tell me what applies to the ka-50? it has only one gauge, right?
  17. thanks! the manual doesn't say "gg rpm gauge = engine rpm gauge"...
  18. well, according to the reference pointed out by Acedy, a shack is a direct hit.
  19. during pre-flight tests, while checking the engine anti-ice system, the manual says to look for changes in the GG (high gas-generator) RPM. where's that gauge? also, that's a part the manual leaves me guessing so much! :(
  20. processors are numbered 0, 1, 2, 3. in my case, processors 0 and 2 work as intended. putting 1 and 3 to work doesn't make any difference (at least in terms of fps).
  21. i don't know, but think about it... if setting affinity to 2 cores does a great impact, do you really think 4 or 8 won't be of any help?
  22. dcs uses 2 at max. let's hope ED fixes this soon. EDIT: btw, i'm using prifinitty, works pretty well here.
  23. i mean why would you install windows 7? just to see dcs fall down? and does your specs allow you to?
  24. do i understand what your asking? and how would you run windows 7 on your box?
  25. ok man! fine.. maybe you understood what i'm asking. several things make the game look as unfinished to me. i'm done with all this complaining. see ya!
