Full screen or Window mode: different shimmering
KillaALF replied to Lange_666's topic in Bugs and Problems
You are bound to see some interpolation artifacts if you are running resolutions that are not native to your LCD, some monitors are better at it, others worse, but anything not native will have a discerable difference in image quality. -
Thanks for sharing. As I run all games in fullscreen and only have one monitor anyway I would have never even thought about that possibilty, glad you got it sorted out.
-
Well, what was your solution?
-
Yes I know, but you still need to setup the profile with the correct *.exe file and then start the game via desktop-link. Once the launcher loads the simulator.exe, ATT kicks in and enforces the settings from your profile. Oh and I don't mean a desktop-link created by ATT, just make one yourself and point it to the *launcher.exe*
-
"simulator.exe" not "launcher.exe" Mine doesn't, have you ticked the "Restore previous setting after game end" box? Maybe you also have a global profile as per Mustang's post set up, so its reverting to those values?
-
:smartass: So? Out goes the bloatware CCC, in comes the lean ATT - I haven't had the CCC installed in years, thanks to Ray Adams' superb little utility. Don't know if you can set up specific profiles with the CCC, but it should at least be possible to force global settings, no? Ah, you did the right thing there. Unfortunately you cannot start the sim via profiles, but if you point the profile to the correct *.exe = "simulator.exe" and then start the sim either via desktop-link or by doubleclicking the launcher.exe your settings will be enabled. I think it has to do with the fact that the relevant *.exe file is not in the root directory. It's the same for the Black Shark.

Very true. For example, I now get build missions from stations that net me tens of millions of credit in just a few minutes of playtime. I think you are confusing X3: Reunion with X3: Terran Conflict here - there is no official cockpit-patch for TC, only mods. TBH I've never missed cockpits. And yes, the game is quite the time-sink - Steam tells me I've spent 718 hours on it though I'm pretty sure it wasn't quite that much, SETA seems to throw the time calculation off somehow, actual playing time I'd put at around 100-150 hours. During the HUB plot I would regularly park my ship well out of harms way, activate SETA and leave the system running over night, my factories producing the needed items all the while. In hindsight I should have just built more factories, especially chip-plants but whats done is done.

You know, you can repair ships with your repair laser - once you have claimed an abandoned ship and while you are still spacewalking just target it and fire at it. Of course, this only makes sense for smaller vessels like M5, M4 and M3, if its not too damaged. If you can't be bothered, just sell them as they are, even small profitsss are better than no profitsss, no? There are also 19 ownerless ships strewn about the universe, all in mint condition, just waiting to be claimed. A full list of their whereabouts can be found here Might be considered a slight cheat, but I know that I used them when I started out. Even a few of them should be enough to buy you a nice TS freighter and set him up as a trader, which will ensure a steady income.

Just installed BS on new PC - can't find registration key?
KillaALF replied to senn's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Search the registry of the old OS, the serial number can be found under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Black Shark\License0 It's the string called "Number". Format for input should be XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX, if this isn't done automatically by the dialog (can't remember). -
Don't worry, UAC was introduced with Windows Vista, there is no such thing in XP. Have you tried updating your graphics card driver yet?

New Cougar Throttles Blowout Sale
KillaALF replied to Protos's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looks more like a COM interface to me, the 15 pin gameport connector right next to it is bigger by about half again. If the Warthog comes with the same type of connector you might be able to switch throttles, but I woudn't bet money on it, tbh. -
Is it possible to use Ati Tray Tools to force vsync?
KillaALF replied to Zorg_DK's topic in DCS Modding
You're right, you cannot start BS with a profile in ATT, but if you set up a profile and start BS via the desktop shortcut the settings from the profile are applied to the sim. I don't know if this works for vsync though as I always play with vsync off, but AA/AF definitely work in this fashion. How about the general D3D setting in ATT? There is an option to set vsync to always on and this should be applied to any D3D application regardless of a profile being there or not. -
bought Black Shark today and only problems
KillaALF replied to JG11Preusse's topic in Bugs and Problems
There is a free test-version available, too. I think its limited to 30 days use, that should give you plenty of time. -

Point to a hotas cougar profile?
KillaALF replied to sofie_59's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There is another way - you have to use the USB command for the windows-keys: USB (E7) = right windowkey USB (E3) = left windowkey Your macro in this particular case would look like this: comms_complete_rtb = USB (DE3 D08 U08 UE3) I was scratching my head over the same thing as well, but Legolasindar's profile came to the rescue, so credits go to him. -
HOTAS COUGAR FOXY programing
KillaALF replied to Scudslaker's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's just the key tester though, the keypresses will be interpreted correctly by the simulation. You can even verify it with Foxy's DX8 key tester, found under the "Apps" heading or alternatively by clicking "View" in the normal key tester. Oh and yes {} are very important, especially if you want to use the macro with a /H modifier, without the brackets only the last key will be repeated. -
Umm, Hewlett Packard :( Guess you're out of luck with that one, AFAIK they don't come with any overclocking abilities. But as EtherealN said, show us a picture of the "Advanced" option of your BIOS, there may be hope yet. And for the future, please don't buy pre-assembled "crap" (pardon my french) - always build them yourself, that's the only way to guarantee your PC has the components you want/need. If you are not computer savvy enough to do it yourself ask a friend/relative/co-worker to do it for you. I've been doing it for friends/family for many years now.

Overclock that E6400 - I have the same CPU and it has been running at 3,2GHz since the day I installed it (Summer 06). Also, according to your CPU-z image your CPU isn't even running at its nominal 2,13GHz though that may be just EIST/C1E in effect (throttles down the CPU when idling to save energy). Seeing as your RAM is rated at 333MHz the most you can safely get out of overclocking would be 2,67GHz (333 x 8 ), but to be sure a picture of the "SPD" tab of cpu-z would be needed.

GT 240 is slower than the 8800 GT you have now, apart from the enhanced featureset (DX10.1, more RAM) I don't see how this card will run BS faster than your old one.
-
No offense, but please don't post things that you obviously have very limited knowledge of. Does CoP support DX11, yes it does, but it's still very much playable on DX9. I should know, I've played through it last November and I'm on XP. Yes, the game has been out on the german (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) market since then. I found the game to be very good and contrary to the two previous titles I did not stumble upon any bugs whatsoever, I could play through the game flawlessly. Overall I would say that for me Shadow of Chernobyl still takes the crown, but if you liked that you really can't go wrong with Call of Pripyat.

I use the Sennheiser PC160 (the previous model to the PC161 recommended in Peyoteros' post). Altogether an excellent headseat, especially coupled with a X-Fi card though I have to admit it gets a bit uncomfortable to wear (pressure on the ears) after prolonged (2+ hrs) gaming sessions. This may be due to the fact that I use it rather seldom though, only when playing with friends or when I play games/sims that make use of TrackIR. For everything else I rather use my Teufel CEM 5.1 setup. I'm pretty sure that if I were to use it more regularly my ears would get used to it and the uneasiness would pass. @159th_Viper: Frankly, imo the Medusa 5.1 sucks compared to what you get with a X-Fi card plus a decent stereo headset. A friend of mine owns a couple of them so I know firsthand.

Is it too sensitive or is it my stick???
KillaALF replied to Muppett's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Increasing the deadzones of the x- and y-axis of the stick should help. You can also try to change the curvature. Options - Controls - then the "Axis Commands" drop down and finally "Axis Tune" on the relevant joystick axis. -
OFP, Arma and now Arma 2 are anything but twitch reaction shooters.

BS on Q6600 and 8500GT FPS info
KillaALF replied to Super6-1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@Super6-1 You might want to start looking into overclocking that Q6600, though, as EtherealN said, you're graphics card is a tad on the lower end.
