  1. Is hog throttle on separate usb? My ancient Cougar is on only one usb daisy chained together. Disconnect them from each other if needed. Then make sure if on separate usb, connect throttle first and see if that helps. Just a guess from me really. Good luck.
  2. And I will just restate for the record that the superior accuracy, range (Mv), and rate of fire of the Sabres 50 cals, along with the radar gun sight and g suit, was a defining, historical, set of facts about the conflict. Especially at higher g-loadings. It is one of the primary reasons the UN gained air superiority. Yes cannons hit harder, but as memorialized in the words of "Boots" Blesse, (in my sig) the 4+ G turn was a safe way to avoid getting tagged by the MiGs cannon. It is a cold fact of physics, brilliant tactics, and leadership by the UN forces. The MiGs could simply not pull enough lead to hit the Sabres at these speeds and g loadings. The Sabre could. Or at least could once they were "in the saddle."
  3. Aha, found the other thread. Experiment with F10 map view and see what happens. Keep your fingers crossed for a solution.
  4. Hang in there. At least one dev. is looking into it. I submitted my log and trk files a month or so ago and it looks like it's map F10 button or otherwise 3D sound related. Check and see if you have other sounds like external and other aircraft. If so then this is a well documented bug and recently is getting long awaited attention. Experiment with the F10 map view key in the meantime and see if you can confirm.
  5. Interesting. So maybe it's a 3d sound issue where F10 changes the view and "live camera location." Then somehow, the cockpit view location gets broken, but only that view and sound source, and not the external sounds... from that view location. So F10 is breaking the Cockpit sound location for cockpit sounds?
  6. Great work guys. Thanks for those docs Fishbed. I saw the NG doc a while ago but missed the M33 ball version. The 875 APIT is OK in game but the standard M2 ball is most decidedly NOT. And it's so easy to fix. Other guns use a different algorithm of circular displacement. That works fine. I am so glad the UN had air superiority over Korea. If not, we might not be allowed to talk about this today ;) Hehe. :D
  7. Right. Kill the heat and warp in the .lua down by 75% and to a factor of 1. Much more realistic. The black clouds was a new effects mod. Cool for a moment but then gets old fast because it obscures your view. A bit excessive. The sparks and glints in the wicked old game MiG Alley were great.
  8. Type of gun? Good. But how accurate. comparatively, are the gun dynamics between the machine gun and cannon (heat and warp)? Is there a difference between machine gun and cannon dynamics in the math/materials physics? I am not so worried about this because the simple factor of muzzle velocity that IS in the sim files, is easily corrected and has a clear controllable result in game. Thanks regardless for the effort. It would be nice to know how the barrel heat and warp equations are supposed to work, but that may be proprietary so we may have to let that be.
  9. Lipas, Go into your scripts/database/weapons folder and find the shell.lua file. Using a Notepad++ editor, find the M2-Browning or M3, M50 and APIT about 20% of the way down the file. Edit the muzzle velocity to be 875-899 m/s. One round is already 875 and works well, the 830 round is ridiculous. I'm sorry, this fix is so easy, all the arguments and resistance up to now are just plain weird given the known historical facts about the matchup over Korea. Slow Cannon, Fast gun. It's a trade off and always will be. Sure gattling guns now use 20 or 30mm with rotary barrel arrays, but this was not the case over MiG Alley. Just fix it for crying out loud. You will be very pleased by the improvement, completely realistic. If a part of you wants revenge and some payback for the historical slight, crank it up to 905 or higher for laser like precision. Tag some MiGs from 2000 meters ;) Oh, that is another area you want to fix, increase your effective range in the aircraft files or wherever visible. With a proper machine gun round, you can hit your target at about 0.5 miles with some luck. And another thing, why does this late E model Sabre with the 6-4 wing and sidewinders, have the crappy early 830m/s round?
  10. Guys! 000rick000 first skin pack is live under DCS downloads-user files. Thank you Rick! :D
  11. MiG-15 Aero edits OK I looked into this some more and realized I goofed on the polar numbers as well as some other coefficients. Less drag, more lift and so on. The polars are still unclear to me since the full plots are usually referred to as polars. The C equation at the beginning of the aero section shows the polars as well and it would be helpful for one of the DCS coders to jump in if they could, So I will leave this here and do more in another thread on the MiG-15 if there is interest. It was tough to see more changes after starting into this and I wondered if I was making it harder for the Sabre, especially since I goofed up the lift and drag tendencies...smaller coefficient is good for drag bad for lift, for example. I think it helped but it is really complex and the symbology needs to be pinned down. So you can make these changes and the sim will still run. Limiting max g may be the best fix to start with. See the pic for my latest SFM.
  12. A couple tests with the B2 numbers doubled (more drag) at lower speeds closer to Mach 0.0 (high aoa). Here is my MiG-15bis.lua SFM section (top) Notice the B2 numbers, = increased 0mamax = decreased (roll rate) and Cymax = decreased (max lift coeff)... below mach 0.3 {-- M Cx0* Cya* B2 B4 Omxmax Aldop* Cymax* { 0.0, 0.018 ,0.037 ,0.148 ,0.01 ,0.180 , 14.0 , 0.005}, { 0.1, 0.018 ,0.047 ,0.124 ,0.01 ,0.360 , 14.0 , 0.010} { 0.2, 0.0172 ,0.057 ,0.100 ,0.01 ,0.730 , 15.0 , 0.020}, { 0.3, 0.0165 ,0.0670 ,0.074 ,0.01 ,1.087 , 15.0 , 0.043}, { 0.4, 0.016 ,0.0700 ,0.074 ,0.01 ,1.489 , 17.3 , 0.067}, This resulted in higher speed looping behavior so the range radius from the Sabre to the MiG increased from near stall and close, to a good bit over 200 knots and further away. I tested a couple times against average and excellent pilot AI. I found longer range hits and quicker kills on a couple. The energy supply was still a factor but it seemed to want to fly a little faster in the envelope which plays into the Sabres strengths a little. Rocket like stall fights were still there but the higher speeds seamed easier to handle. And in low speed scissors and overtakes, not one MiG got a shot off no matter how crazy wounded duck style I was flopping around dealing with the control modeling and live input realism. I think the AI skids and slips too because I find I have to do that a lot near stall and when I am very close in the saddle. I could be wrong about the Polar exponents but my description above was the most common for flight and not moments of inertia for beams and girders. "Polar" comes from the polar graph plot with degrees aoa, +/- around 0 (a pole) and change in lift or drag coefficient. They can change based on power settings for the aircraft as well, hence 2 columns B2 and B4.
  13. Just read up on B2 and B4 power coefficients. These are for "Drag Polar" coefficients describing induced drag at different angles of attack and power levels (thrust). I will tweak these as well to see if I can make the low speed, high AOA performance decrease a bit. In my tweaks so far I have noticed the MiG-15 will not climb as steeply and keep a higher speed even without any drag polar changes.
  14. Just an update. I spoke to my brother who is an aerospace engineer for NASA and Lockheed Martin (not that it's a difficult question)... When Mach = 0.0, Lift or Stall/Departure angle = 0.0 So the last number in the SFM for the MiG-15, top row, should be 0.0 and not 1.1 or some number less than that. At Mach 0.0 you are completely ballistic and not generating lift. You are stationary even. Yes this is the coefficient of lift and not the lift itself, but below stall speed, it is essentially 0. This is a problem. The matrix should shrink as you approach stall speed. In the stock SFM it does not. I tweaked mine and can check on that. Thought of this over the weekend on my visit home and sharing DCS videos with my dad.
  15. Yeah some heavies would be cool, especially the C-5 which I flew on. And bombers would be fun too. "Castling" with JDAMS and gliding them in from outside the target area. BOOM!
  16. Thank YOU NineLine! Sorry for all my ranting. It's mainly due to the critical tactical nature of this aspect of the F-86. High G, High muzzle velocity was the way the Sabres fought historically. And the MiG-15 was a tough and worth adversary as an interceptor. You could even say that the differences discovered with this match up (as well as lessons from WWII) could be the main reason for the separation of roles in the next generation jets: superiority fighters v interceptors. and also why the F-4 was born without a gun...going too far. ;)
  17. Oh yeah, any thoughts on the shadows or lack thereof in the speed brake bay?
  18. Nice work CH. And rick, how did I miss this? :D Thanks a ton. I will check it out this weekend.
  19. Si ragazzo, but we need to keep the pressure on. ;)
  20. Right. This is why you see company logos taped over or blurred out in television and YouTube shows, or you see an accompanying disclaimer regarding any apparent "agreement" in a production by one entity using the work or logo of another. The original use of the term "copyright" in the last screenshots by the OP was confusing. Somehow people are "buying" their production product or whatever, but it only amounts to a production license as far as we know. This is a deeper level of intellectual property law and it's good we have a chance to discuss it now. It's good that the OP started this thread because it shows the Chinese customer base IS thinking about it on a second level. To me, this shows a positive trend. I still think it is not as serious as all out piracy of the code, and it is a good sign that the market is softening to these considerations over there. With the Lego case in mind, there might be some ground to gain in a legal pursuit but if nothing results from that, it won't mean that gains are not being made in the marketplace. Remember the cultural issues involved here, especially political - the Hong Kong protests. Significant gains could be made in consumer and government attitudes with the leverage of the situation.
  21. Sorry Ravenzino, I was looking at an old thread. Here is the post in question from December 2016: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2994601&postcount=2 Similar issues MAY be in play however. If not, it is still only a Production Copyright problem as violation of the license agreement and NOT key or software piracy at this point. The teens are hyped and loud here at work and school hasn't even started yet. I need another vacation already. ;)
  22. Haha! Yeah, and it's 92F and humid as a swamp. That's part of the problem this time of year in the northern hemisphere. Stay cool everybody! :D I have to wait on purchasing the Viper or Spit. I have another exotic car parade/charity event this Saturday and it was too stormy to wash the car tonight. Better luck tomorrow. And good luck in Hong Kong, to our DCS friends over there. 勇气! :D
  23. Great points Gman109. I have to admit the "any publicity" line was percolating in the back of my mind too. And to ravenzino, "大谢" :D
