I had the same problem but there is a solution. You have to set textures to medium or low - it crashes on HIGH and only the Apache. Must be something wrong with Apache's cockpit hi-res textures from ED side...

Quest 2 - Virtual Desktop Crashes only on the Apache
dmatt76 replied to dmatt76's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks! Indeed. Lowering textures fixed the problem. So it might be something on ED's side if only Apaches textures causes troubles on high... -
Strange problem here: - Quest 2, Virtual Desktop, DCS launched directly in VD "lanuch game" Everything works well but not the Apache! F-16, F/A-18, etc - I can play with 45 fps, no problems at all. When I'm trying to fly the Apache, VD freezes, usually on loading screen, sometimes shortly after entering cockpit. DCS works fine, there is tracking, I can see that everything works on the monitor, but in the goggles the screen freezes, crashes - and only with the Apache, nothing else... What's going on?
-
Exactly. If starting the game without freezes becomes more complicated than flying the Tomcat - both seats - a proper documentation, guide and tutorial video should be ready when the patch goes live. Also, ED long time ago should have made a deal with Skate Zilla and incorporate his launcher as a official DCS tool, upgrade it with options like openxr ON or OFF or at least do the Apple way and bake a new launcher.
-
The fix with forcing openxr in command line doesnt work. DCS freezes in the menu, earlier it was on loading but the old method - puitting the old DLL file in BIN folder works like a charm Reverb G2, latest Win11, latest RTX nvidia drivers

Do you still need to use OpenXR toolkit to tweak the settings?

Clouds look perfect in VR now! (edit: not all clouds)
dmatt76 replied to dmatt76's topic in Clouds & Weather System
OK, after more testing, the jittering is still present o certain type of clouds. More thick overcloud is usually nice and clear but partial, thin layers of clouds are still jittery mess. -
After last 2.8 updates clouds in VR finally look great. No jittering, no pixelation, no blur on the horizon line! Like on a monitor! Please don't break it in the future. Also performance is better! Edit: OK, after more testing, the jittering is still present o certain type of clouds. More thick overcloud is usually nice and clear but partial, thin layers of clouds are still jittery mess.

If you haven't checked out yet, the Caucasus Free Flight in Instant Action has been completely redone. It is now more combat mission. No dummy bombs, we have live munitions, our leader is shooting mavs, everything on the ground is blowing up, burning, smoking... Nice change. I always use this mission to test VR settings and was quite surprised!

During Cold Start, IHADSS B/S - REQUIRED info used to stay on until boresight calibration is done. Now, after the last update IHADSS B/S blinks for a millisecond when starting APU and it is gone for good. You can miss the message, you don't know if you have it calibrated or not. Is it "correct as it is" now or new bug?
-
No, just A-4 and Black Hawk. It was fine not long ago... I should try that "slow repair" maybe... Edit OK, slow repair fixed it.
-
Since the last update I don't have those pylons... I've already run the repair - no joy... Any ideas how to fix it?

So, the F2 view shows ACU camo and FPP body Multicam, as previously with British liveries. Are there going to be some updates in the future with ACU in FPP or Multicam everywhere?

WWW version of the Apache's Full Guide. It is still work in progress, not updated with features like Attitude and Altitude Hold - it will be early next year. Also, it is not made by native speaker, so some English translation issues may be noticeable: https://guides.gamepressure.com/digital-combat-simulator-ah-64d/

reported earlier CCIP Consent to Release - is that normal?
dmatt76 posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Is that normal? No matter how high is the camera, how can you steer the plane, the Bomb Reticle in Consent to Release 3/9 and 5 Mil is always half visible... Like there is a transparent border ath the bottom of the HUD. The same when you press the weapon release and wait for the solution cue. In older tutorials and guides the full Reticle can be seen... -
With 2.8 - in VR - clouds which are away from the player are very pixelated and jittering all the time, regardless of clouds settings, even on high
-
Ok, it works. Rack is the issue. It must be for single missile only, not the other lau-88 even with one missile mounted.
-
Did something happen to Maverick ripple mode in Viper? Can't get it work as it used to, no two circles, no 2 missiles lanuches, whatever mode and steps I tried... Used to work great, never had problems before…

This video explains the bombing pattern with action point, check off and apex very well!

Ok. I got the answer from Wags:
-
Regarding last Viper Updates video - does anyone know what are the ACTION and CHECK OFF values in the manual bombing mode table?

reported GBU-24 no damage after changing AD option
dmatt76 replied to dmatt76's topic in Bugs and Problems
I know, I'm not asking what it is. I've just noticed that if don't touch any bomb settings, the hangar will collapse in big explosion after the bomb hit. If you change AD from 0 to any other value, the hangar is OK after the bomb hit - nothing happens. -
Made a few runs against hardened shelter. GBU-24 penetrates it only without touching any options on MFD. Changing arming delay even 0.25s and the target will not be destroyed. TRK included gbu24 delay bugk.trk
-
So, the AD for GBU-24 should be 0? I tried a few times with 1 or 2 seconds and the bomb did not destroy a hangar shelter - went through with no effect or made a crater next to a hangar. the only damage I saw so Far was when the bomb didnt follow the laser and fell down on random buildings in a city…

After last update airspeed on IHADSS shows "0" even when the chopper is speeding up forward, what velocity vector shows. Speed starts to rise above 0 with noticeable delay, after the gaining quite a lot of speed
