Track was provided, could this get updated? Thanks!

I'm guessing they want to surprise us. When he says "flesh out", that potentially means waiting so that it can be released in a more finished state -- functioning A/G and A/A FLIR (obviously), laser target designator/ranger, and laser spot tracker. Although frankly I'm not keeping my hopes up for anything more than the LTD/R and A/G FLIR upon release.

Yes. DATA sublevel, A/C tab. Bottom right.

HUD can only be caged/uncage toggled in Navigation master mode. In A/G, it's uncaged; in A/A, caged.

Track attached to this reply. In summary, two things are happening vs. two things that should happen: 1. When in an ACM mode with the gun selected, Undesignate goes out of ACM. The button should instead make it go to GACQ (or if in GACQ do nothing). Basically you shouldn't be able to go to a main search mode (e.g. RWS, and later TWS/VS) with the A/A gun selected. 2. When an ACM mode is previously selected with another A/A weapon, it should override GACQ when you select the gun (instead right now, the radar forces GACQ over, for example, BST or VACQ when switching to the gun). Thanks for taking a look! AA Gun bug.miz.trk

I believe whenever the gun is selected, Undesignate should revert to Gun Acquisition. Right now, it exits GACQ/any ACM mode and GACQ cannot be obtained without going to another weapon and back to the gun. This seems to be confirmed by an update a long time ago according to some patch notes but does not reflect behavior right now. Perhaps it was never put in or got taken out? DCS 2.5.2.18307 Update 3: If the gun was selected as A/A weapon, pressing undesignate in all ACM modes, as well as TDC in BST/VACQ, always returns the radar to GACQ mode. BST/VACQ/WACQ modes, when selected with A/A gun, now override GACQ mode. It can be observed after the radar breaks lock. RTS commanded by pilot instead always reverts to GACQ. (RTS=Return to Search=Undesignate button)

When in STT, the word RDR is put on the HUD. I believe, however, in the real aircraft it says RADAR, not RDR. See attached image, which is from Jetstream episode 5 (a Canadians Hornet documentary).

When in the HACQ/LHAQ ACM modes (e.g. Sensor Control Switch UP when the HMD is turned on), you cannot command Vertical Acquisition (VACQ) via Sensor Control Switch DOWN, as you can in Boresight (SCS UP with HMD turned off) or Wide Acquisition (SCS LEFT). EDIT -- track attached. VACQ bug.miz.trk

The A/A gun / ACM sort of works funky at the moment. When you first select the gun, it commands the special ACM "Gun Acquisition" (GACQ) mode. All well and good. Then, given the plane is in ACM by selecting the gun, you can use the Sensor Control Switch to go to Boresight/Helmet Acq, Wide Acq, etc. When you press Undesignate (either in GACQ or a normal ACM mode), however, the radar goes to some weird condition: it's searching as normal in Range While Search, but ACM mode is still active. There is no way to command Gun Acquisition without re-selecting the gun. I think the correct behavior is to always return to GACQ with Undesignate and not allow normal search with the A/A gun.
-
I notice when intentionally leaving Single Target Track mode, the radar forgets about the trackfile and you have to let it find it again in search. I would think it would keep the track when returning to search mode. Is it truly correct behavior for it to drop it?

Would like this for the exterior lights master switch on the throttle as well.

Given we see Launch Acceptable Region indications on the RDR ATTK when an L&S is designated with RWS/LTWS and even the TD box on the HUD, should it also show on the HUD as with STT? Or not since LTWS can't guide AMRAAMs? Seems like it'd make sense still.
-
Yes. If an L&S is designated, it will always have a target designator (TD) box/diamond around it. And of course with the AIM-9 there will be the circle indicating the missile seeker as well.
-
I hope one of the first modes we get will be Air-to-Ground Ranging (AGR). This will allow us to designate a TGT via the HUD / HMD (although I'm not sure what happens if you try to designate with the HMD beyond the radar gimbal limits; might be impossible, or it will be pretty inaccurate).
-
Correct. AIM-9 operation is as follows: NO L&S Seeker is boresighted to the HUD / HMD (when looking away from HUD). Cage/uncage will make the seeker track a contrasting target if it sees one. L&S DESIGNATED Seeker is slaved to the line of sight to the L&S.
-
No, when you designate an L&S or DT2 in RWS that's RWS (with LTWS enabled). You'll be able to do the same in TWS however. L&S is an abbreviation for launch & steering target. It's just a pilot designation so you can have a TD box on the HUD/HMD and it will put a star on the HAFU. In TWS we'll be able to guide an AMRAAM on the L&S. (The Sparrow and guided gun reticle require STT. AIM-9 is always slaved to the L&S regardless of mode but STT is most practical.) You need the seeker to see a target to uncage the Sidewinder. For the 9L/M this is a loud growl and for the 9X this is a steady tone.
-
I think by DTWS he means dedicated track while scan. This is just track while scan. There's three main radar modes - RWS, TWS, and velocity search (VS). You don't get a shoot cue in RWS because it doesn't allow a weapon launch. You still get the LARs though. For the AMRAAM you should get a shoot cue in TWS when it is implemented. And of course you do now in single target track.

Not enough information, Wags said.
-
Not multiple at once. Markpoints are treated the same as waypoints so you can WPDSG one and use it for a TOO attack
-
I do think the Hornet does have some HOTAS functionality we're missing at the moment, but yeah, it's definitely not the same as the F-16 and A-10. There's still quite a bit of DDI/AMPCD button mashing required for things - it's a completely different aircraft design.

Ah got it Backspace. Well, next week on Wednesday perhaps then -- however long it takes them.

Litening II With normal patch day tomorrow and the most recent statement saying they're confident it will be by the end of June, just wondering: will we be expecting the targeting pod any time this week or is it no longer anticipated to be by the end of June?

Oh, those can be changed in the data cartridge? Interesting, I'd have assumed it'd be hard-coded.
