Negative, it's not correlated to the barometric / radar altitude indication. That still shows up (when source is set to radar), to the right, independently of the A or R indication
-
When in A/G master mode and employing bombs, an "A" or "R" sometimes pops up underneath the altitude box. I can't figure out what triggers either of them - not mentioned in the manual or any videos I've seen.

In the early access manual, it says (in regards to the positions of the sensor control switch): "Aft: When in A/G mode, this assigns TDC priority to Advanced Multipurpose Color Display (AMPCD). When in A/A mode, this assigns the TDC to the AMPCD SA page. If in an A/A ACM sub-mode, this puts radar in vertical acquisition (VACQ). If in NAV mode, this toggles the AMPCD between the HSI, SLEW, and SA pages in that order." Sounds quite useful. In some other thread about the ability to switch around pages akin to the A-10 Wags said no such functionality exists in the legacy Hornet. Just to confirm, he didn't mean this was wrong/we're still going to get the above functionality, right?

It's under the DATA subformat

That was a placeholder IFF system and not realistic. Now, realistic IFF has been implemented (although automatic IFF settings will be coming with the azimuth/elevation radar page). Give this a read- https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/F/A-18C#IFF.2C_HAFU.2C_and_NCTR

Ahh, I see. In a later post he actually provides a real life cockpit picture of it as well. Thanks!

On the attack radar page you can't select the "reset" option with the TDC, like you can with the "set" option, range, etc. It is indicated in the early access manual that you should be able to use the reset option with the TDC as well. (As of posting, see page 168 on the DCS Hornet manual.) (track attached) RDR ATTK RESET.miz.trk

IIRC this was marked as reported when somebody reported it as a bug (opposed to "No bug", when reported bugs aren't bugs)
-
Yep, this is coming. Wags said: "Two new weapons coming to the Hornet later in early access are the GBU-24 Paveway III and GBU-32 JDAM" https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3816104&postcount=137
-
Indeed - hope you feel/are feeling better, Wags. We all appreciate ya (and everyone else working on the Hornet).
-
With the RDR ATTK format on the left DDI, sensor control switch right (with TDC assigned to the format) commands AACQ. This seems pretty odd as it makes assigning TDC to the right DDI a hassle. Of course maybe this is the correct behavior but it seems more likely to be a bug.

For the "DSPLY" formats like IMAV DSPLY, MAV DSPLY, and JDAM DSPLY, which can be accessed not just from the STORES format but individually on the TAC menu, they only show up on a DDI/the AMPCD if that specific display previously had the STORES format up. I think they're supposed to show on all displays whenever the weapon is selected in the computer via the STORES page. Track attached. MAV DSPLY.miz.trk

Unless this is only on the Super Hornet, according to an ex-pilot from the Fighter Pilot Podcast (and demonstrated in this video), an advisory pops up whenever your plane is responding to a Mode 4 interrogation. (timestamp 7:33. ~1:00 to ~6:45 you can see the actual ADV-M4 OK).

LTWS is really just a display mode. RWS already gets all this info. It's not changing what the radar is actually doing unlike say TWS. Also, yes, it does have "L&S" capability.. that's just the name for a contact designated as basically the primary target; signified by the star HAFU. But no, you do not need to unbox LTWS to go STT. Just press TDC depress until it is STT'd (for L&S, it will be one press, for a DT2, it will be two - one to make it L&S, another to make it STT, and for an undesignated target it'll be two or three) - or, more efficiently, press sensor control switch right when the TDC is over the contact. Doing this once will put it in STT no matter what.
-
As gekoiq said I believe the actual employment and programming of the JSOW will be near identical to the JDAM. Just has a longer range to actually release.
-
A waypoint is just one way to designate a TGT. Will also be able to do it with targeting pod and A/G radar and such. What I'm saying is you cannot designate a TGT via the HUD unless you have an AUTO bomb profile selected, yet you can always designate one via the HSI.
-
Only when you have an AUTO bombing profile and the bomb selected are you able to designate an A/G TGT via the HUD. This seems odd to me... is this a bug or can you really not designate, via the HUD, a target except with AUTO bombing in the real Hornet? To note if you designate a TGT via the HSI you can actually slew it on the HUD even without an AUTO bomb.
-
A/A weapons are selected via the weapon select switch (forward for AIM-7, down for AIM-9, aft for gun, and right for AIM-120), but you can see what A/A weapons you have on the STORES page still.

[CANNOT REPRODUCE, MISSING TRACK FILE] Is the TA vector missing in STT?
Jak525 replied to Razi's topic in Bugs and Problems
Probably goes away because the vector heading of the target is shown in the upper left. -
That's interesting. Guess they are able to do NVG with JHMCS.
-
Indeed, I also heard this from pilots on the Fighter Pilot Podcast. They said they'd normally take NVGs instead of HMD or in large flights they might have a mix. I think the only HMD+NVG simultaneous tech is the F-35's one.
-
TGP should be coming after the HARM Pre-Briefed (PB) mode and pullback function is done, as per Wags.
-
On the EW format the chaff and flare count only appear when the ALE-47 is ON rather than BYPASS, and yet the SA format shows it either way. Is this intentional or is one of them wrong?

[MISSING TRACK FILE] A/A waypoint draws twice when selected
Jak525 replied to Jak525's topic in Bugs and Problems
Track now attached ... in this example, it's less noticeable, but you can still see it drawing over it again as the circle gets thicker. When I first encountered it, it was drawing quite a bit offset, so you could clearly see there being 2.
