  1. As usual, there is a section of the population that would be late for their own funeral. ....... and of course it would be someone else`s fault.
  2. I`m just wondering is this the model you purchased, https://andres.shop/jetseat/16-64-jetseat-kw-901.html#/30-additional_software_included-none. Previously in Andre`s shop there were the flightsim versions available, but they seem unlisted on the store page atm.
  3. The C-101 is a great little module and very good value at 50% off, with a good vary of weapons on tap, including anti-ship missiles. As for the MiG-19 v the A8, it depends if you are more into WW2 v jets. Both modules are well done but need better scenarios, a Vietnam map/campaign for the MiG would be a big plus. like yourself I have passed on the CE, the rest I gave in to temptation I`m afraid, but for the most part at sale price @50% off or more. From my brief time with the A8 it seems a more stable weapons platform than the Dora but obviously slower, and is a lot better for A/G low altitude work. Also the big radial will survive better, battle damage wise, and it`s a nice stable aircraft to fly at low level.
  4. You`re kidding right. I presume you are out of nappies at this stage, so time to man up and take responsibility for your own decisions. Besides that you can sell your Index and likely make a profit. VR is just not for you, give yourself another 10 yrs while the rest of us enjoy our VR experience. We`ll just have to manage w/o your vr input in the meantime.
  5. Thanks for the info. How are the lenses, lot`s of talk about godray`s etc.
  6. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. I have the CV1 and have finished playing pancake games. For sims such as DCS etc. VR is the crossing of the Rubicon, a one way trip once you have experienced the immersion. VR is to the flat screen as the internal combustion engine was to the horse.
  7. Thrustmaster have a summer sale atm with the Warthog hotas for 353 euro,https://shop.thrustmaster.com/en_ie/hotas-warthogtm.html. Unfortunately for me I bought the Warthog hotas on Amazon UK two days ago and it cost me ~420 euro and only spotted the sale just as I unpacked the box. Of course to make up for giving 70 euro more than I could have I went and bought the TPR Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder, https://shop.thrustmaster.com/en_ie/tpr-thrustmaster-pendular-rudder.html on sale for ~450 euro. Suckered a second time. I have the GT1 Evo cockpit from Sim-Labs in transit, coming next week. So I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. Next hit is the Reverb to replace the CV1, that`s if it`s issues get sorted in the next batch, otherwise I`ll be waiting for the next VR release from Samsung, hopefully SOON.
  8. You also have the consider the security vulnerabilities of the intel cpu`s due to their architecture which have resulted in anything up to and above a 20% hit in performance due to Zombieload etc. So a 5ghz intel cpu will not perform as a 5gig part. Lot`s of issues with intel, I`m saying this as someone who has always had intel and is rocking a oc`ed i7 4790k. My next build is likely AMD, who have also been breaking new ground with PCIe 4.0 giving 5gb/s data transfer for new gen ssd`s with Samsung getting 15gb/s in a raid setup. Ryzen 3000 brings higher IPC, double cache size for better gaming performance and support for 5000mhz ram, a big improvement for latency and VR. .... and of course AMD matching/exceeding intel`s i9 at $499, half the price.
  9. AMD Ryzen 3000 is 7nm so will deliver more for less, Intel i9 is a 14nm processor, they haven`t even hit 10nm`s yet. Your current cooling will work fine, i 9`s are known to run quiet hot, I`d say the new AMD chips will be cooler.
  10. It`s very much about ghz and single core speed atm. Hopefully Vulkan will rectify that when we eventually get it. Add to the fact that intel chips are getting worse over time with an estimated up to 20% loss or more via security vulnerabilities - Zombieload etc. I have always had intel but now I`m seriously thinking of dumping them for AMD who have matched or surpassed them with their IPC jump, more cores and better security. Add Vulkan to the mix an it`s even more suited to AMD and the extra cores. Intel had a very good run, but got sloppy and complacent. It`s good for them to get a kick in the arse now and then. Competition is good for us consumers.
  11. The 570 mb`s will come down in price after a while, but they bring some big improvements. PCIe 4.0 and AMD Ryzen 3000 series CPUs would be able to hit a maximum of 5000 MHz DDR4 memory speeds with X570. That will do wonders for latency and VR. If the reviews back up the hype, I`ll likely go AMD 3000/X570 for a new build, we`ll see how the Black Friday sales go.
  12. An i9 would make little to no difference over an oc`ed 4790k in DCS. My 5yr old 4790k is still nipping on the heels of intel`s latest cpu`s. Intel have been running on the spot for the last few gens, absolutely no value in upgrading from Haswell for gaming. AMD with their new Ryzen 3000 may be the best out there in the next few months while delivering a great price and worth consideration.
  13. Yeah I`m aware of the mirroring, I just try and keep the overheads to a minimum, even though I`m running a i7 plus a 2080.
  14. Well you are using more gpu/cpu power to have that 4k res on your monitor (which is really surplus to requirements) than to have a lower res on same. It may be just a few fps, but I`d rather have it in the HMD.
  15. I see you have 4k resolution on the monitor, personally I reduce it to a minimum to give max gpu power to the HMD.
  16. Some very informative reviews, thanks to those concerned for their efforts. Like all the hmd's, there are compromises. The Reverb still seems the one best suited for simmers.
  17. Thanks for the info.
  18. Some people are posting informative reviews while others are giving their verbal version of an unboxing video, which I always find moronic. Informative info for those of us waiting to purchase same and less waffle should be the order of the day.
  19. Maybe it`s hard to tell, but the sweet spot looks quiet a good size on the Reverb as he was scanning the cockpit. The video looks extremely promising and I am definitely going to make a purchase as soon as it lands on Amazon, unless Acer suddenly bring their HMD to the fore. As for the Rift S, it`s not even in the reckoning unless I could pick it up at 1/2 price.
  20. Sounds like a plan.
  21. Well it`s a symbiotic relationship, one cannot not function or exist without the other. You and the team keep pushing the envelope, virtual and otherwise, and the community will be fully behind ED`s endeavors. The promise of flying the the F-16 in VR, plus the quality and experience of the Hornet, made the Viper an instant buy for me. Thank you.
  22. I think ED should just stop further developments and upgrades to the game so those wishing to hold on to their money and not purchase any further content would be happy and remain silent. But then of course I feel such people would be the first to whinge about said lack of development. Luckily you have free will to spend or not to spend, just put that free will into practice and let the rest of us do the same.
  23. I have them all (inc. maps & campaigns) bar the CEII. The F-16 is the next purchase as soon as it`s in the store. I think to really appreciate these aircraft and fully experience what`s on offer you need VR, and in VR the value for money for that experience is beyond question. It`s as close as most of us will ever get to the real thing and we are extremely lucky even to have that opportunity. On top of that we are supporting an ever improving DCS. So all in all easily worth the price and I`m sure the up coming HP Reverb will take the immersion to a new level.
  24. Quick overview The HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset - Professional Edition In the box HP Reverb Virtual Reality headset - professional edition 3.5 m headset cable for desktop and mobile PCs 0.6 m headset cable for portable VR VR backpack from HP Z VR 2 motion controllers 1 DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort ™ adapter Setup document 1 year limited warranty It`s the more expensive pro version, so the consumer version should be ~600 euro mark including VAT.
  25. That been the Pro version the standard should be at the 600 euro mark. Another month or so, and some more "in the wild" reviews and we`ll be good to go. Hopefully Acer will provide some info on their HMD in the meantime to increase the choice.
