  1. The Hornet is the master jack of all trades. Even in its still incomplete state, it's the Swiss army knife of the sky. Great buy, even at full price.
  2. I have mine set to 100% to get the closest to native.
  3. Oh boy, your description at a quick glance looks like you're trying to unscramble an egg. As you say, and like you, my WMR portal or house (whatever) starts automatically on widows startup, I then just double click on the desktop icon for DCS (non-steam version) on my actual desktop (monitor) and not in VR (hmd environment). DCS then starts in VR and steam VR also starts automatically. I then alt enter to maximize the mirror on my monitor, put on the hmd and work the in game menu from there. If I had manually shutdown the WMR software on the desktop as I was no longer using the hmd, but using the pc for something else. To restart the WMR software (portal/house) I just go into my steam library and launch the MMR VR software from there and proceed as above.
  4. The Reverb is straight forward, I use the WMR beta and steam vr beta software. WMR starts up immediately when the pc starts and the HMD is on, then click on the DCS icon (standalone) and steam vr starts along with the game. Everything else is a non issue. As for altering the text file for reprojection and the colour bars as described, I followed reddit, deleting // as stated and it worked as was described. Really the Reverb is nearly as hassle free as the old CV1 I had. It just works and is a really simple setup. Just to clarify, the WMR software can also be launched via steam, and is the MR portal house. If for whatever reason my WMR software (house) did not start automatically on pc startup, or I had shutdown the software to turn off the hmd while using the PC for non VR stuff. I would just go into my steam library and from the VR software section, launch it and proceed as before/normal. You need steam VR to play DCS as well as the WMR software as far as I am aware, until DCS bring in direct WMR utilization.
  5. At half price its a no brainer, well worth it. A unique aircraft in DCS.
  6. WMR just starts automatically for me when I turn on my pc, I then click on the desktop icon for my standalone DCS and it automatically starts Steam VR and the game loads and starts in VR. If I closed down the WMR software for any reason before starting the game I just restart it again from the steam library/software and proceed as before. You can stop the Oculus program from starting by right clicking on it and go into properties and alter its startup permissions. IPD adjustment is done in your Windows setting -> mixed reality, on the desktop and not within the VR headset. Not sure it works as intended yet as it seems to make little difference atm.
  7. I have an oc`ed 4790k, 24gb ram and a oc`ed 2080. The Reverb is not a problem, and runs better at it`s 2k per eye than my old CV1. DCS optimization is a BIG problem, and until we have Vulkan then the single thread bottleneck has GPU`s potential choked. A busy map and the GPU will likely be running at half steam. MSAA is also a big resource hog and there should be better AA options. Can hover around 80/90fps near the ground on the Nevada map with the majority of planes bar the F-14, Viggen and maybe the MiG-21(haven`t flown it in a while). PG is also pretty good away from the city areas.
  8. I have the Reverb and it works w\o issue everytime. I just star the pc, click on steam to start the wmr software, sometimes it starts up automatically when the pc starts. I then double click the dcs desktop icon (non steam version), and it starts up with steam vr. Then alt enter and I work away. The only issue I may have is I may have to redo the boundary for WMR before I start dcs. No issues with dcs, although taking steam out of the equation would get rid of the extra overhead. As for the Windows+Y, that's to switch between the hmd and the desktop, but as usual you have to click on the dcs window to use\interact with the dcs menu and use alt enter to maximise the dcs window so it doesn't do it's escape act as you interact with the cockpit. It's all more or less a non issue and very straightforward.
  9. I have the TPR pedals on my sim rig, purchased on the summer sale. I can`t fault them. The motion feels more natural (having used the pivot system), and I find them extremely accurate and responsive.
  10. I like yourself per-purchased the Viper on day one, nonetheless there would be some competition for sales if they released in close proximity to each other. As for my clairvoyance, my crystal ball is on the blink and I am currently relying on my waters, which at the moment are about 90 proof.
  11. I do likewise, but is it good long term for the screens is my worry.
  12. I'd imagine the release of the Viper will not clash with the JF-17, rumoured for the 1rst of October. You'd think ED would like not to compete with Deka for cash, especially as the JF-17 is likely a good deal more complete and operational than the F-16. So either ED beats Deka to the punch for sales/cash by a release before the end of this month or the Viper will be released a lot closer to xmas. As for the aircraft carrier module, again is it likely this year and will it clash with the Viper release.
  13. Mine went to the steam grid initially, but I unticked that option and got the screen flickering as expected when loading DCS missions. I think I'll go back to the grid as it's a pain to experience the flickering.
  14. Is there anyway to adjust the IPD slider beyond 67 in the WMR settings, maybe via config setting etc.
  15. Coming from a 1080ti, a 2080 super or regular will give little or negligible advances for the money. A 2080ti is a massive investment for ~25% increase. All this in light of crap cpu optimisation. We'll have to hope for Vulkan api to increase performance instead of brute force gpu's. I came from a 1070 which I sold for a good price to make the jump to the 2080 on its release. Likewise I'll sell it again to trade up for my next gen. Regardless the 2080 will run the majority of VR developed games at 90fps with the Reverb 2160x2 res w/o issue. Software is the problem and not hardware atm.
  16. I have a 2080 and 4790k, 45fps with reprojection is an non issue. The gpu is sitting around 60-70% usuage. It's hitting 90 w/o reprojection that's what is needed, and a 2080ti no more than a 2080 is not going to hit it at low altitude. Therefore the best bang for buck is your 2080 or the new super 2080, as it has released. The extra cost for the small performance increase of the 2080ti, imo is not worth it. Poor optimisation and resulting cpu blockages due to high object counts makes a mockery of any gpu.
  17. Excellent module, and the most versatile aircraft in DCS atm. Easily worth the price.
  18. Yes they all have some mura, but in game it's very much unnoticeable. The clarity is just way beyond the rest of the hmd field. Target acquisition is on a different level with the high ppd. 2160x2 should really be the new baseline, add that to a large fov, oculus optics and mech ipd, then I'd pay 1k euro w/o question.
  19. WMR beta and steam vr stable release. Steam vr beta is said to have performance issue's, I haven't tried it. Maybe someone can confirm it or not.
  20. I've been messing around with my reverb settings. Previously I had global and application set to 100%, but this gives a resolution higher than the native 2160x2. So I brought global to 78%, to bring it just over native. I didn't see any degrading in game res and it looked pretty good. I also have msaa x2 and medium textures and water. With my oc'ed 2080 & 4790k I can keep a steady 60fps @ 60hz on most instances until it gets really busy. At altitude I can keep 90 @ 90hz. I'm still experimenting with the settings, 60hz setting is fine, but the 90hz is smoother. Reprojection is also quite smooth but gives you ghosting like asw on the rift. Overall it runs better than the CV1, SS is a resource hog.
  21. Get the Reverb and spot targets from 20k feet.
  22. Another more capable Mirage variant is an instant buy for me. I have all of Razbam's (and DCS) modules, with the Harrier and Mirage among my top picks. The AV-8B is one of the most versatile and enjoyable modules along with the F/A-18C. Razbam have shown they can produce high quality and very interesting aircraft for DCS, and have shown improvement in their approach. Consequently I'll continue to fund their developments.
  23. Thinking about the Reverb myself. How much clearer is it over the index, and how wider is the fov vertically and horizontally in comparison. I would be mostly using it for dcs.
