  1. Just cancel the pre-order, before it ships. If it looks like the eye tracking version is maybe a few months more of a wait I may just hold off on the purchase. Although it`s unlikely DCS will be able to take advantage in the near future.
  2. Just ordered the G2 from Amazon Spain. So if anyone is interested in a lightly used top condition Reverb G1 they can drop me a PM.
  3. Amazon Spain still has it at 599 euro,549 w/o controllers. Stlll wondering if it`s worth the upgrade from my year old Reverb.
  4. Great job Mikhail, no rush. I'll fix you up as soon as you are ready.
  5. Just to touch base Mikhail. I am pretty sure I sent you a personal message with my email back at the start of April with my order request. No particular rush on delivery, just a catch up to make sure you have that email. If you haven`t, then just let me know and I`ll forward it again.
  6. Maybe you are confusing running like a pig with looking like a pig. As I said the map looks excellent, but runs very poorly in VR. That's with a 2080 and the Reverb on native resolution, flat shadows, etc. Add a complex scenario, forget about it. Some of the WW2 paid campaigns in DCS are unuseable in VR, and that's on the newly optimised Normandy map.
  7. It`s going to be interesting the hear the gnashing of teeth from those that purchase the new 3090 etc. When they still find themselves struggling with their VR fps in DCS. I just cannot see next gen hardware being able to brute force a solution to ED`s failings in relation the the core development and proper optimization of their game engine. I suspect it`s half the reason there is no dynamic campaign yet. Put multiple sea. air and ground units on a map and the whole VR experience coughs and splutters before coming to a grinding halt. The Channel map is virtually unplayable, add a complex scenario and it will make your eyes bleed. ED have to drop everything else and modernise their game engine asap. Adding more bells and whistles is beginning to resemble putting lipstick on a pig.
  8. Windows update can also cause errors for DCS, any game updates or user actions involving admin permissions. The latest windows 10 update corrupted my user account data and removed my ability to give user admin permissions. Therefore DCS was unable to update or repair even via the CMD method. I couldn`t even open the CMD window with admin permissions w/o a user account error. I was looking at a Windows refresh or reinstall. After much digging I found replacing the 32 & 40 image files within my windows user account pictures with those copied from from the same location on my laptop, solved the issue and restored my admin permissions. Thus allowing me to update DCS as usual.
  9. I think wireless HMDs will likely arrive faster than we think. There is talk of 6ghz connections for high bandwidth, with a number of new headsets in the works. Some have eye tracking. VR is becoming more widespread which will benefit those of us in the sim community. It will be interesting to see what Oculus brings with the new quest.
  10. Seems a bit crazy to add support for Varjo, when I`d imagine those with such a HMD would be in the single numbers. While leaving WMR still waiting for native support bearing in mind that the number of such users would be substantially higher. Unless of course it`s proving problematic to implement.
  11. Flying the K-4 I got in a skirmish and lost aileron control, like the control cables were shot out. I had to use rudder to control my roll and maintain level flight. Managed to land in a reasonably controlled manner. The damage model is definitely improving and becoming more intricate.
  12. I have followed Greg`s excellent youtube channel for a good while. Great source of technical knowledge. Part 6 details the P-47`s ability to carry drop tanks from 1943 which gave it the ability as a bomber escort to range well into Germany and back, well before the P-51 arrived. The "bomber mafia" caused a lot of needless deaths due to their failed ideology and covered it up by rewriting history. Shocking stuff if his description is in anyway accurate, the top brass responsible should have been shot for stupidity and dereliction of duty. or at the very least jailed.
  13. Got the notification email 2 hours ago for preorder from the same Dutch online shop I purchased the Reverb last year. 725 euro including the VAT. Similar price to my original. Tempting but a better FOV would have near sealed the upgrade. The limited FOV can be a pain in the neck, in every sense. I'll wait and see what other HMD's come to the fore in the meantime.
  14. Get off the high horse and don't be so defensive. No one is putting words in anyone's mouth. This is an adult conversation and not a children's playground.
  15. How long do you think the Intel chip can sustain 5.3ghz, even on water. Before it begins to fry and throttle back. 5.3ghz sustained is not going to happen, it's just marketing desperation to try and stem the flood to AMD. Frankly you'd want to be mad or just want to waste money buying the i10 chip. I just wouldn't upgrade on any platform atm as we are on the verge of a new generation transition.
  16. Not a good time to upgrade, the i10 CPUs are a bit of a desperate stopgap from Intel and the last gasp of 14nm(hopefully). They have crazy power demands that bring issues with thermals. Ryzen is a much more power/thermal efficient CPU and brings PCIe 4.0 to the party. I currently use a i7 4790k @ 4.7ghz, 23gb ram, paired with a 2080. Personally I`m waiting for Zen 4 AM5 socket and DDR 5, plus the likely next gen SSDs, which will have crazy speeds. Likely another 18 months. DCS is just a CPU bottleneck at present, hopefully by the time I`m ready to upgrade from my 2014 system it will actually be worth it. But it has served me very well to date for VR with the Reverb, and hopefully a little longer
  17. Yeah I can see you're in a bit of a bind on that front, if you have no PC at present. As a Reverb user, I can tell you the DCS is very single core CPU bound in VR. Even the next 3080ti will be hamstrung by poor optimisation. Vulcan really is a must for VR as busy missions are a bit of a slideshow. Some campaigns are pretty unplayable atm until DCS get the finger out in relation to same.
  18. Nvidia have new GPUs releasing in a few months that will be a big jump in performance over the current 2080ti. AMD have big Navi releasing likely before that. Not a great time to be buying new PC parts or new builds atm. At the very least such parts will be cheaper as they are surpassed. Even Intels i10 CPUs are only a hail mary stopgap, they are still stuck on PCIe 3.0, while Zen 3 later this year from AMD will likely blow Intel out of the water. Also DDR 5 again from AMD possibly next year.
  19. I usually edit the missions in VR (clarity is not an issue with the Reverb), bit you can always start DCS in non VR mode via SkateZilla`s DCS Updater GUI / Launcher Utility. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053
  20. As the previous contributors have said. I have WMR home starting on windows startup. Then i start steam and click on steam VR. The steam window can be closed as steam vr will remain open. Then on the desktop I just double click the DCS icon and put on the HMD.
  21. Jesus, the bloody SC carrier module is half price, that`s before it`s even released. It is for peanuts at 25 dollars. If it was for a fiver, people would still come on this forum and whinge about paying for it. Do these people work for nothing in real life or do they expect stuff to land in their lap like manna from heaven.
  22. Agreed. A fully fledged Kuznetsov with active deck crew, LSO etc as per the upcoming SC, would be a must have for full fidelity Russian aircraft as mentioned above. But to look for it for 10 dollars as the OP has stated, is just farcical when you can currently buy the upcoming SC modules for 25 dollars (50% off). For that you get an upgraded Kuznetsov and the the SC with deck crew et al. I mean such whinging is nonsensical when there are bigger fish to fry like core game features, performance optimization etc. Christ, at this stage I`d gladly pay 50 euro for the doubling of my fps in VR and a state of the art dynamic campaign. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper than running out and buying a 2080ti.
  23. Zoomer

    ee lightning?

A bit of a ugly duckling and somewhat limited. But it flies, so will end up a likely purchase at some stage. Seems even a novice can get airborne, landing might be a bit more tricky. :)
