  1. That been the Pro version the standard should be at the 600 euro mark. Another month or so, and some more "in the wild" reviews and we`ll be good to go. Hopefully Acer will provide some info on their HMD in the meantime to increase the choice.
  2. I have been looking at the warthog setup for a while, currently using a the t1600m stick, throttle & pedals setup. I holding out in the hope that there may be a refresh with improvements to the throttle in the next year or so. It seems neglectful on TM's part to continue producing a throttle with such obvious flaws that could be easily and cheaply sorted. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a GT1 cockpit from sim-labs and hopefully soon the HP Reverb. Thrustmaster just make the few improvements and I will make the purchase.
  3. Has anyone an idea of how much roughly we are looking at cost wise for a four unit setup (actuators & controllers) like in the previously shown clip.
  4. The Reverb is definitely worth a try when it arrives on Amazon. With 30 day hassle free returns as an option, it`s a no brainer. I would like now for Acer to get the finger out and provide us with another high spec option to choose from. I think simmers can more or less bin the rest of the field of gen 1.5 HMD`s as of the Reverb`s release.
  5. You seem a tad confused. I never said I had a Reverb, I said I`ll be waiting for reviews. I thought what I said was couched in a non complex manner, unless of course English is not your first language. In which case I`m glad to clarify. Having a good resolution on a HMD is comparable to having a good foundation on a house. Skimp on the foundation and all the fancy furniture and features in the house aren`t worth crap as it falls down around you. Likewise if the res is not up to snuff on the HMD, then a fancy pair of earphones or godlike tracking can be consigned to the bin. I`ll take the resolution first, and work from there. WMR tracking will suffice for me as a simmer and optics will be assessed on review. I imagine they will be a step above my CV1 which together with the vastly superior resolution will work for me. As for the IPD, that will all be considered on review, noting the Acer HMD in the works. The superior resolution solutions of both these units have put them front and center in my considerations with the inferior 1.5 Rift S and Index already halfway to the non consideration bin as is. I may be tempted to pick up the Rift S if it dropped to 250 euro or less, otherwise it`s also for the crapper.
  6. I reckon most people will do the sensible thing and just wait for some reviews before parting with their money. Waiting a month for the dust to settle seems the optimum choice. Regardless the higher resolution makes it a no brainer for VR simmers in relation to the other pretenders 1.5 HMD`s. Going by the pics on the thread the Reverb is the obvious choice or the Acer high res version if it has the mechanical IPD. The other units just look piss poor versus the Reverb as of now.
  7. The Reverb looks vastly superior to the rest of the runners. As for running the Reverb, it`s native resolution will greatly surpass that of the vive pro & Index and running it should be commensurate with, or less than, running those lower res units with increased PD to try and compensate for the lack of res on those panels. It`s the old story of not been able to make a silk purse out of a pig`s ear. Reverb high res being the silk purse and the rest, the pig`s ear.
  8. I believe it would run the Reverb`s native resolution easier than using supersampling which is more taxing on the GPU resources. Personally I have a 2080 and expect it to be fine with the Reverb.
  9. 99% of DCS VR users are not going to be paying ~5000 euro for the XTAL. Therefore it`s an non issue and exists outside the norms of such use. When you pick up yours you can get back to us with a review to see if it`s worth the price.
  10. Those (Norm-Tested) that have tried all the new HMD`s inc. the Valve Index and the Reverb have said the Reverb surpasses all, and is the benchmark in clarity/fidelity as of today.
  11. Well I`d hoped the "Displayport 1.2" was just a placeholder, alas no. Valve have just seemingly strived for the last few years to produce a vive pro clone at a slightly cheaper price and a year and half late. So much for original thought. Like yourself I may pick up the index controllers/lighthouses when they have reduced significantly in price, otherwise I`ll give them a miss. I`m mostly a simmer and can use the rift for the occasional standing game if needs be.
  12. The Valve Index is just another sub-par gen 1.5 HMD. I`m disappointed and hoped it would have been otherwise, as I would have ordered the full pack for ~1K euro this week if the res matched or surpassed the reverb. It`s a bit pathetic to watch the usual VR youtubers gushing about such a deficient hmd for the price. It`s like watching sheep being herded into a pen. At least I`ll save 400 odd euro going for the Reverb.
  13. The Mirage I feel, is a must have module for DCS. The Harrier is also a good buy at 50% off. I say treat yourself and get both. Then again I have them all bar the CEII, no rush with that particular one. As for for a heli, go for the Mi-8. It`s a very well done module.
  14. I`m saying give me clarity and the advantages it naturally brings over the small bump in fov. If you compromise on ppd then you are stuck with it. Coming from the rift I`ll take ability to see detail as the dictating factor in my choice of upgrade.
  15. I think for Valve to release a next gen VR headset with their new gen knuckles and limit it to not use Virtual link plus less res than the Reverb, would be the height of stupidity. This headset is meant to span the next 3+yrs of hardware/software development. The Rift S is already a yellow pack effort for those that that don`t know any better in relation to VR. Nvidia/AMD settled on Virtual link as the way forward in coordination with the headset manufactures.
  16. Give me clarity/ppd over a small bump in FOV any and every day. No point in having a 150 or 200 degree fov if everything is barely legible. I`m in the Reverb corner looking at Valve. If the valve index is the same as the vive pro res, then it`s a non runner for me. If it matches or is superior to that of the reverb, then it`s a definite buy. Even if it`s around the 800 euro mark, with included knuckles and lighthouses etc. I spent similar money for my 2080 so to maximise my VR experience.
  17. 2160x2400 will make it a definite buy for me, if true, and priced anyway reasonably. I was going to opt for the Reverb next month but will keep my powder dry until firm details arrive. As of now, the the sub standard Rift S is definitely a non runner. It`s firmly placed in the low to medium category in the VR stakes. It will be good for those with lower end systems, new to the genre with lower expectations.
  18. Again, you may want to dial down you readiness to take offence and go all snowflake, and relax a small bit. I would class serious simmers as people who predominately play sim games such as DCS, IL2, racing games etc. Therefore mostly seated VR, and as such would prioritise the needs of same over the requirements for standing games etc. The need for seeing cockpit details etc. would require the need for fidelity as stated. As for your 10k/gear waffle, that`s exactly what it is.
  19. I think you need to relax a small bit and be less of a snowflake in your efforts to stand up for oculus, unless you are on the payroll. They have PR people employed to do that job. I never mentioned the phrase "real simmers", I said "serious simmers". Serious simmers will always put hi-res/fidelity and sufficient tracking for seated vr above everything else. If the tracking and controls are also good for standing games etc. then all the better, but they will not be the priority. I`ll take the far higher res, built in headphones and proven design of the reverb over the inferior lenovo from oculus all day long.
  20. I am definitely interested in the Reverb, it`s 90% of what the new rift should have been instead of the damp squib/afterthought the Rift S is. For simmmers the Rift S is pointless when much better res units are on the field for a little extra cash. I`m skipping oculus for now, and likely will still hold onto my old rift though I`m a bit jaded of it`s low-res at this stage. Roll on the Reverb and I`ll also watch HTC to see if they bring something worth considering at a similar price. HP look like the new goto option for any serious simmers. Forget about oculus for the next couple of years.
  21. If you first recenter you position in VR, then line up your aiming eye with the reticle and press f10. The viewpoint will adjust.
  22. Serious work, kudos to the devs. Thank you.

    F-18 or F-14

Like everyone here, I`m looking forward to the Tomcat and have it pre-purchased since before Christmas. No doubt it will be an excellent module, but the F/A-18 is a fantastic module and very well done. I think the F/A-18 will be a more versatile aircraft when completed, and it is relatively easy to fly. The one fault with the F/A-18 is it`s short legs and a drop tank is a necessity on any mission of length, of course you have A2A refueling. It`s a difficult choice to make as the Tomcat has yet to be released, but I can say the F/A-18 is well worth the full asking price.
  24. I like the MiG but the Mirage is more versatile and a really nice aircraft to fly. Both aircraft are receiving an update, the larger one for the Mirage I believe. Of course both are well worth the sale price if you can stretch to it, but atm I find the Mirage my 2nd goto after the F/A-18. If the Mirage had the ability to lase targets it would great. I`d buy the two-seater D version w/o question if released.
