  1. Holy hell that is quite a limitation!
  2. Hi guys, I am probably missing something. I am not able to figure this out. - If I equip only rocket's pods (4 pods), I can use these without any issues by selecting "Rocket" on the armament selection. - If I equip only gun's pods (GUV-8700), I can use these without any issues by selecting 12.7mm+7.62 on the armament selection. BUT: - If I equip the hind with two rocket pods (example: UB-32a) and two GUV-8700 gun pods, the gun pods will work, but I am not able to fire rockets even while selecting "Rockets" on the armament selection switch. I am surely missing something? Or is it a know bug?
  3. Came here with the exact same question! You guys made my day. This forum is a bless.
  4. What !? I did not know about this. Auto aim dont work with rocket?! I did not notice this! Not challenging what you are saying since I just scratched the surface with weapons at this point. But indeed it will be a pain! So you are saying that you are auto aiming with the 30, notice the impact point on your sight, than switch to rocket? They share similar ballistic?
  5. Oh I can see here why they would use grenades instead of rockets. They would fall thru little street, crack and defenses wall ... not exploding on contact. That would make sense in some scenarios! Not in DCS, but I can understand now how they could be used. Ahah, I also heard that trying to manually aim the rockets (without the auto aim) is kind of useless as well. GOOD LUCK getting good with that one
  6. Hi guys, anyone found a good use to the grenade launcher? Not sure if it is fully implemented but I do not see how this thing could be better in any scenario that the usual rockets. Your thoughts?
  7. If you mean while sitting on the ground. Yes it's normal. The only thing that will block it from rolling is to hold the brake (or parking brake).
  8. I do agree 100%. Did not have that much fun for months!
  9. Found few threads here and there on the subject, but not in the bug section. In the Syria map, the doppler scale button will return a black map! I think the ground crew forgot to put maps in
  10. Good to hear Now its time to learn to swear until you figure out how to handle that beast perfectly. Hours of fun, and so rewarding!
  11. Indeed it really clarified that auto pilot thing. The problem reported to the OP was happening to me a lot. Thanks guys!
  12. This is the video yngvef is talking about. This thing is GOLD. I thought I was the only one thinking that the rocket blast effect was too weak. He also mentioned this, so that made my day.
  13. Hi guys, I noticed that when clicking on the map doppler scale button on the Syria map, the zoomed map is black. I just want to double check with you guys if I am not missing anything before opening a bug. Could also be an early access thing, but don't remember reading anything about this one.
  14. You guys were right. I was able to reproduce it. Sorry for my ignorance on this! Indeed, diving for a rocket run will easily throw you at that speed if you are not careful. Thanks for your help guys!
  15. Hi guys, something weird happened to me twice and I thought about asking here since I was not able to figure it out. Twice this week, the Mi-24 started to ROLL on itself like crazy while starting a rocket attack. The chopper get out of control and I cannot get it back (to finally crash). Any hints of what could happen? Next time I will keep the track and post it here. Wonder if its a bug or something I am missing. Just checking here if someone would have a hunch about what it happening...
  16. Both aircraft are awesome. So it all depend of what you feel to do. I do prefer the F16 as it does not feel like a flying computer like the F18. I like its raw attitude and maneuverability. But do not get me wrong, the F18 has its strength also. If you feel to operate from an aircraft carrier, then it's not like to have the choice! Pretty sure that many guys here fly both.
  17. Did not try 2.7 Stable in VR yet, but would the new skies looks WAY better than the old one anyway? (Even while considering the glitches). Maybe this is the reason why they decided to release these.
  18. Wow quite a detailed and impressive setup! If you have few mins, I am pretty sure some would be interested in the details of these program (number dispensed, interval ...) Now about the F16 and the fuel. If you think that the F16 drinks like a drunk on the 4th of july ... my guess is that you did not fly the F5. That thing can barely take-off LOL
  19. This thing is pure gold!
  20. HOLY HELL, you are right. I was using the CHAFF/FLARE Dispense in the CONTROLS section. I linked the FWD switch instead and it worked on the first try. You guys rules! Thank you all.
  21. Hi guys, I asked a question on the Mi-24 Hind section and was not able to get an answer so far. I am linking it here since I know that most of the rotor head are hanging out around here. My question is about the Hind, but I guess that the strategy would apply to mostly all choppers escort scenarios. So here it is:
  22. mmmm weird. Wanted to test this out. I simply started a mission with the F16 already in flight, set the MODE to BYP and pressed the dispenser button. Like 40 were spammed. I attached the track. Any idea what I am doing wrong? flare.trk
  23. Holy hell! Lot of views and not much replies. I guess the Russians were able to keep their escort tactics in the shade
  24. Hi guys, let's put in place a small scenario. A Hind has for mission to escort two MI-8 full of troops heading to a hot landing zone. Someone here knows how the Russians would officially do this? Would the hind be few kilometers if front opening the path? Or it would stick with the MI-8 in formation and respond to an attack? Would the MI-8 tell the Hind where to hit? Briefly, I am interested in the logistic of the Hind used as an escort of transport choppers. I get the general idea, but I am interested in the details of how they would fly this out.
  25. Good idea! I read the A10 one, which was excellent. I did not read the F16 one yet for some reason. I will check it out! No I would not only dispense one, but I like having control of how many I dispense while dogfighting. Why spending 20 more chaffs/flares when the bogey IR missile just zoomed pass you and is no longer a threat. It is a very common scenario for me these days. I am mostly always BINGO of these. I really like the F5 system, where you simply input the number to dispense and use it. For sure the F16 is more complete, but I think it is overcomplicated. In conclusion, I will check out Chuck's guide and see if I can program that thing to my taste.
