  1. If you don't have the money, I would suggest a completely different alternative. Get Cachya which works just as well as Track IR, if not better, (tested this already). This program is only $14.99 and uses a webcam. You can find it at www.Cachya.com It works the same way as Track IR and has the same 6DOF that Track IR uses. If you have a webcam already, all you do is buy the program for $14.99 and print out, (or draw) a head sign that you attach to a hat. You can find the printout on the website. The program works awesome and tracks your head movements very smoothly. You WON'T be disappointed. I tested Track IR already and I can honestly say that Track IR does not work any better than Cachya. DON'T waste your money on Track IR when there are cheaper and just as good alternatives out there. There is a free trial version of Cachya on the website so you can try it out. It only uses 1 axis though. I suggest buying cachya though so you can make use of the full 6DOF. *Just a note. This program works the best when you have a light above your monitor so that it illuminates your sign much better. You also want a fairly dark room with no windows behind you during the day. Then it takes about an hour to 2 hours to tweak the program so it works perfect. __________________

  3. Have to say, I love the Shark. My desktop consists of a wallpaper I created myself using Photoshop and one of my own skins. ** The wife still hasn't noticed the busted beauty on the nose for about a week now. :music_whistling::thumbup:
  4. That would be my choice as well. The Harrier would be a cool idea as well. That is definitely something I would like to try in a realistic sim.
  5. The correct way to turn is to do a co-ordinated turn. To do a co-ordinated turn, you must first understand what each input does. If you are flying forward and you apply right rudder, the nose of the aircraft will turn to the right. The aircraft will still maintain the same heading however. In essence, you will be sideslipping. If you are flying forward and this time you push the cyclic to the right, the aircraft will start turning to the right with your nose slowly turning right but not pointing in the direction of flight. In essence you will now be sideslipping in the direction of your turn. This is where you apply the co-ordinated turn, (or centering the bubble). This time, when you turn to the right first push the cyclic to the right so you start your turn. Then apply right rudder to align your nose in the direction of the turn. You can watch the bubble on your SAI to make sure it is centered by applying left or right rudder to center it. By centering the bubble, you now have the nose of the helicopter pointed in the direction of flight. Hope this helps. :)
  6. Lookin' good Chazz!
  7. What do you find easier to understand though, the producers notes or the manual. I'll bet you learned a lot more through the producers notes than the manual, just like I did. The producers notes you can watch and see how things are applied too the sim. I'm not saying that I didn't look through the manual and not find anything of help in there. I know that the majority of it is in english. I'm just saying I learned a lot more from the producers notes than the manual. The fact that the labels and pictures are in russian make you have to remember where that label is applied and what it means. I don't want to have to do that. I just want to be able to read the manual and know just by looking at a switch in the manual, what it means.
  8. No, I bought english version. Still has russian labels and pictures in russian in the manual.
  9. You are right, they are in english, but if you look at all the pictures of the cockpit switches and knobs, they are still in russian, which you kind of need to know. I just think that the Whole manual should be in english, with english cockpit pictures and english labels. After all, I bought the english version, not the Russian version. I find it hard to read when vital pieces of information are in Russian.
  10. Nice detailed description.
  11. Just bring yourself up to 250 km/h, then go to your outside view and look at your helicopter from behind. You will see that on the right side of the helicopter, the upper and lower rotors are close together, almost ready to strike. If you bring it up to 300km/h, it looks like they are almost contacting each other. You will also notice on the opposite side, they are further apart. This is due to retreating blade stalls on both rotors. Since they are spinning in opposite directions, the top rotor has more lift on the left side and no lift on the right side. The bottom rotors have more lift on the right side and no lift on the left. This is why the bottom rotor is flexing up towards the top rotor on the right, and the top rotor isn't flexing at all on the right. If you do any sudden maneuvers to the right with rudder at highspeed, it flexes the bottom rotors even higher causing the rotors to strike. That is why they say, avoid harsh manueuvering to the right. Same with collective, too much collective will cause them to strike.:)
  12. The semi-rigid mounting on the Ka-50 improves the cannon's accuracy, giving the 30 mm a longer practical range and better hit ratio at medium ranges than with a free-turning turret mounted on the nose.
  13. On the main website under files. It is in the videos.
  14. Unless you know how to read russian, the manual isn't going to help you to learn this chopper more than the producers notes. The producers notes explains how to utilize all the tools in the cockpit much better than the manual. Yeah, you are going to be able to learn a few basics from the manual, but trust me you will learn a heck of a lot more from the producers notes, than you will the manual. As far as I'm concerned, the producers notes are the manual. I can't read russian after all. When I found out that the manual that they were going to be releasing in North America was the same as the PDF file, (with Russian Labels), I decided that I am definitely not buying the manual. :music_whistling:

Answer: In a turn, the AP yaw channel should try to maintain your turn parameters, not your heading. This logic was presented to ED after code final, so it will be added in the patch. __________________ EB Am I evil? I am man Last edited by EvilBivol-1; 04-17-2009 at 01:36 AM. 16. Just a note, you guys aren't crazy. The game was programmed so that the helicopter would try to keep the heading with the autopilot using the rudder. If you start a coordinated turn and then straighten out, the rudder will point the nose in the previous heading that the autopilot was trimmed to. This is not the way the FM is supposed to work. When turning, the rudder is supposed to keep the coordinated turn. This was a mistake in the programming and this has been brought up by a pilot already. ED is apparently rectifying this issue in the patch. To get by until then, either use flight director which only dampens the controls, or hold the trim button during any coordinated turn and release after holding present heading. Some people just don't notice this issue because they have just become accustomed to holding the trim down during turns. Just test this out. Lift off from an airfield without giving any inputs. Then use your rudder to turn the aircraft. You will notice that when you center the rudder, it will turn back to the previous heading from when you lifted off. This is not supposed to happen. In the real aircraft, when you center the rudder, the aircraft should maintain the current heading. ;) I just hope a patch comes out soon to resolve this issue.
  17. I have good news for some of you. I was just in the Abbotsford Future shop today and I asked them about whether they would be getting DCS Black Shark. I saw him look it up in the system and he said that they are on order but they haven't recieved any yet. I saw it on the computer as getting 9 copies. He said they wouldn't necessarily be coming to that particular store though.
  18. I think it would be nice to have a patch now that fixes the major issues, and another patch down the road that fixes the minor ones, or the ones that ED is having problems fixing. One of the major issues is the autopilot holding the heading when you turn. This, apparently, isn't how the ka-50 is supposed to handle. So it would be nice to see a patch come out now with that fixed, for example.
  19. Glad you got it sorted out.
  20. That is why my auto pilot turns off sometimes. I was wondering why it did that occasionally. Thanks for bringing that to my attention as well.
  21. Awe man that is great news about adding that to the patch. I always thought that was weird that the helicopter would try to maintain its heading. It just didn't seem right. Thanks for bringing that to our attention and fixing it in the patch. Now I really can't wait for the patch.
  22. This is funny, I was searching all over Abbotsford BC in January of this year to see what store would be selling DCS. I went to EB first thinking that they would be selling it for sure. They had never heard of it, and it looked like they weren't even selling pc games any more. I then went to the next obvious choice, Future Shop. The guy I talked to in there had never heard of it either. Got into a discussion with him about it and told him that they should definitely bring this game in, but it seemed to fall on deaf shoulders. I then thought that maybe London Drugs (just on an off chance) might carry it. They were in the same plaza as future shop so I thought I'd give it a try. I got into a very lengthy discussion with the manager in the software section telling him about this game and that they should bring it in. He sounded very interested in it and was very much into simulations himself. I showed him the website and he started really looking into whether London Drugs would be bringing it in. He really showed a lot of interest in it. I thought to myself, yeah right, london drugs isn't going to bring this sim in if no one else seems to be bringing it in. And now here we are, London Drugs comes to the rescue. ROFL :megalol:
  23. You have modman installed already. You just need modman and my cdds file thats embedded in the modman file. You can then create your own modman file using modman. Just alter the .lma7 skin file to make it for russia. There is an excellent tutorial on lockonfiles made by RCN_moose to create your own skins. You can use that information to create your own modman file.
  24. I'm sorry to say that every time you install files with Modman, it alters your database files already, so if you don't like to do it, you have already done it. :smilewink: Just save your db.countries.lua file first to a different folder before installing all countries mod. That way, if there is a problem, you can just reinstall the old db.countries.lua file. Just uninstall all addons first with modman, install all countries mod, then reinstall all addons including skins. If you really don't want to go this route I can make a separate modman skin that is capable of being installed to russia, but you will still be altering the database files. :)
  25. Thats pretty funny Yoti! Nice job so far SSneg.
