Don't worry, I am done defending the JF-17. I just didnt want this forum to become crowded by all the people coming in here demanding the missile to be brought down to the old AIM-120 standards for fairness. It is clear that recent ED actions about fixing the AIM-120 were direct reaction to all the content creators suddenly saying how AIM-120 was underperforming when compared with SD-10. Before this, they were frozen on saying that the AIM-120 will only be fixed when the new missile API is finished. It is not my place to give out name or point fingers but I am glad that people are starting to accept that JF-17 is not something overpowered. I was just really happy with how much detail was present in this jet and the air to air missiles actually hit the targets and not just do close fly-bys like the old AIM-120. At least those jets have the luxury of carrying up to 10 missiles while this one only gets 4. (not counting heat seekers). Currently, in multiplayer the SD-10 missiles seem to fly past the enemy jets if they even do a little nudge before impact. I have compared the TACVIEW recordings from previous engagements. The missile behaviour is quite dumb now compared with before. The missile does not seem to lead much now. Not sure if bug or done on purpose. Regarding the range, I really don't care since in pvp everyone will always have to dodge through SPAMRAAM so nothing was different before that changed now in that department. At this point if the JF-17 has been fixed/nerfed/balanced or whatever they call it, I am going to go back to flying the F-14 and F/A-18 for air engagements since why fly a jet which is constantly bouncing up and down with each patch. I already have too many nato jets now so it was a nice change of pace to try something different. Still fun to do ground attacks. I hope they dont fix/balance/nerf that as well.

Hmm, where are these people getting the information that JF-17 got nerfed or Deka corrected the performance of the SD-10 with the new patch that fixed AIM-120? I do not see anything like that in the Patch notes. If anything like that did happen, where did Deka provide the changelog?

I doubt it since someone will make a video detailing the difference and the blowback would be huge for doing a ninja downgrade. Not worth the hassle after ED said that they will be completely transparent with the community. The only thing that has been confirm is that ED believes that SD-10 has WIP errors with proof and will discuss them with Deka.

You are right. You have complete freedom to just come to this thread and start calling people rude while being rude to them yourself. I must agree with LastRifleRound here, you really are the other side of the same coin. Probably RAZBAM had nothing to do with so many people being upset at them. I am sure, just like you they think that the Harrier has minor faults and nothing really a priority. All these people getting upset are just being overly dramatic. Keeping jets in EA for years while giving constant excuses for delays should not be a reason for people to eventually get upset. After Heatblur and Deka came along to show how competent and fast a 3rd party developer can be, it has really put into light on how disorganised RAZBAM have been so far. Especially considering that those devs have smaller team than RAZBAM. Just look at the amount of projects they are working on at the same time compared to other 3rd party devs. I hope the pressure gets them to be more open with community regarding what will be fixed next and then they actually do it properly. Not that hard to please the community of DCS. All the other devs have their die hard fans while RAZBAM have their fans angry at them.

The classic case of "I see nothing wrong with this so everyone needs to chill out". Everyone here has a right to share their experience. Keep flying the harrier for a while and see how that goes. When you find the little bugs which start repeating everytime you fly, I hope you do not get frustrated and continue to fly it afterwards. Giving out conflicting analogies over hot topics is just as brave behind the anonymity of their computer screens. Sorry I was just trying to say that mirage does not even have that many features when compared with the scope of the Harrier jet. I vent my frustration because Harrier is one of my favourite jets. I would love to use it effectively but when things that should work, stop working and you already spent so much time in preparation and getting to the area, it becomes frustrating after a while.

I am beginning to think that RAZBAM have reached the peak of their abilities. They do not hold the knowledge to develop complex systems that are present in the modern aircrafts. Similar to how Heatblur stays away from modern jets since modern multi functional systems is probably not their forte (yet). Even though they might look and feel simple, the modern jets have a lot of capabilities, calculations and features when compared with the old analogue and guage ridden aircrafts. My fear now is that RAZBAM is sitting on the most powerful license. The F-15. I do not think they will be able to simulate the amount of systems that are present in that aircraft and do a quick job while keeping it in EA forever. Currently, the Mirage is 4 missiles and 1 radar. The Harrier is Broken screen pages, buggy targetting pod, super hover engine where even after water runs out it does not take damage, no modeled ins alignment? etc, and etc... I own these modules now so all I can do is wait and get upset everytime they show something from one of many projects they are working on at once. In the end, I am not getting any younger and waiting years for certain bugs to be fixed should not be expected of us.

It might just be that you have your view distance set to low? Try checking your graphics settings.

That was an odd and pointless statement. Anyway, as for this topic, I believe the jet sounds quite alright. I can hear the wind speed around the airframe. The surround sound effect is present. Not really sure how much sound the engine should make since even if it is a powerful version of mig 29 engine, we dont know how loud it is in pressurized cockpit. I would love to get a bit louder engine sound on the exterior view though.

Alright, you are just going to reword my statements and just deny certain comments. You clearly got upset over me mentioning the nato fanboys. I stand by what I said and you just saying it’s not true doesn’t change the fact what people had been saying about the jet when it was released. Just look at the old SD-10 posts here. Look at the comments on the pre release videos. This is off topic talk now so I will not be doing this discussion any further unless you have something regarding the SD-10. Or just continue to cherry pick what I said and reply to it in multiple quotes.

You are even insulting the jet while saying nobody talks negative about it. So far ED has only buffed nato weapons and released nato jets. Even the Russian community is upset about that. Just calling people wrong on this forum is all what you seem to be doing lately.

I would rather they come to a factual conclusion and not barter with each other for a middle ground. Please don’t take it as a negative response to your original comment. :)

Didn’t that version just come out like yesterday or something? If I remember correctly, that version has a lot of changes because it was designed to stand against the current Indian arsenal. That includes ability to combat against the Rafale. If something like that gets added here, we will have the most advanced jet within the world of DCS. Highly unlikely since having just the current version is kicking up a lot of doubts and people are demanding Deka to provide them with official documentation which show its performance. This is obviously not going to happen.

I doubt that Deka would even have the right connections and access to the Russian technology for this task. It will probably take some Russian developers to develop this jet properly.

If the nato community keep acting like this, they will cannibalise their own hobby. After seeing all the drama that is kicking out over this, which other 3rd party will be willing so spend years making a jet and doing lots of research because in the end if it outperforms the nato ones, it will be an unwelcome addition. All we will get then are some amature devs like the ones who made the mess with the hawk jet. Current ED practices also show favour towards nato side with their updates and development priorities.

Since you guys do not trust the word of that one user and nobody else seems to be giving you any solid proof, I will drop this link here for you which was back when Jabbers interviewed Deka before the public release of JF-17. I have timestamped it for you to where they discuss it. I hope this clears things up a bit.

The performance capabilities of JF-17 has really surprised the whole nato side up to a point of disbelief in its performance claims. They are almost always rude or negative when they speak about it outside this forum. Not really surprised that even ED has their doubts at this point and are cracking rude jokes with their community. The general idea is that JF-17 is a very cheap bucket with wings and chinese weapons are not that great when compared with "giant" nations like Russia and USA. Even the nickname Jeff was given to it as more of a rude joke within the hoggit community. ED is more active in hoggit reddit and even release a lot of official statements there randomly so I'm not really surprised about this. I am curious to see how they will blow these chinese rockets. I just find the level of ignorance quite revealing.

I'm sure RAZBAM will just say "If ED develops it, we will add it". They said that about pretty much every other major jet feature people have asked them to implement.

Those rims seem to have more metalic shine to them as well.

Why does ED drop official statements in random locations were not many people are looking? Seems like their employees are more active in reddit than here. These are very big statements for just posting as a reply to some negative comment which gets hidden automatically.

Regarding the missile out performing or underperforming, you might want to provide some ingame proof for developers to go by. Also link your sources for the range claim studies.

Just few days back similar thread was locked because nato boys came raging here demanding SD-10 to be nerfed because they claimed it was not realistic when compared with DCS AIM-120C. You are here doing the same, claiming it is unrealistic and demanding Deka to give you some proof without you yourself giving any valid reason behind it other than some chat somewhere said so.
