  1. Yea coolts, I dont want to spend loads on pedals, as its like you say, its under the desk, nobody gunna see them, aslong as they work and do the deed then they can be fugly looking things, I dont care as long as they work and dont break and they are not too costly, especially since the warthog is gunna be the guts of 400 quid. Since my feet are gunna be on them I would prefer quality, as I am one clumsy mofo, so I would like the ruggest of builds for the pedals as knowing me i will break them somehow. So its CH Pro pedals, I will look out for them, as I know CH do good kit, didnt know they made pedals though. I have to agree with you, flying in lockon is easy with the 52, the rudder easy peasy, but dcs, it can be a pain at times when it comes to the twist stick and the helo.
  2. Gettin back on topic. Check this out, its from 2007 but its about sams being fired at planes, c130 being locked up by one. http://www.afghanistanwatch.org/2007/07/first-surface-t.html little touch more info about the same thing. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/majornews/1558756/Taliban-in-first-heat-seeking-missile-attack.html Also this from last year about the insurgents having SA14's and trying to use them. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5822094.ece Suddenly the thought of me wanting to be a helo pilot for the army diminishes every single time I read about missiles being used against helos. I have always dreamed about wanting to fly a helo in combat ( it would of never of happened ) but I really would hate to be in a helo at less than 500 feet and for a missile to be fired at me, even if I did have a disco ball on the helo, I wouldnt be happy unless the disco ball was pumping out staying alive by the bee gees, respect goes out to these pilots as it must be uber scary work at times.
  3. Yea, making profiles is a PITA big time, takes me ages to remember what all the buttons do, once i start to remember them, my pc needs formatting and I make a totally different profile and have to start learning from scratch all over again as the buttons invariably end up in different positions. I dont have existing pedals, I used the twist stick x52 for my rudder, but I very much doubt that the warthog can twist and be used as a rudder. So unless I use the keyboard for rudder, which is not gunna happen I will have to get pedals, I will just have to start looking for a set, from who or where I dunno, well except for the kind gentleman above you who mentioned a set. I will check them out, as I honestly dont know of any other makers of pedals.
  4. I cant wait til it goes on sale, finally a joystick that is plug and pray with lockon/dcs, instead of sitting at your pc for about a month making and tweaking a profile, only to do the same thing over and over again each and everytime you format your pc. It takes me roughly 1-2 months to make a complete profile and to remember where all the keys are, as I first off make a preliminary one, then I game with it and then start tweaking it over the space of those 2 months, I then finally have a working profile that I love, only for something to happen that makes me format my pc. Instead of saving the profiles like I always remind myself to do, I forget and end up having to do the same profile making all over again, the same with TIR and my g15. so it will be great for once to just install the game and stick and just play. I will now have to also buy pedals alogn with the hog, as I wont have a rudder control when I dump my x52, so I will need pedals and I have NO idea who makes them and what are a good make. So I need to find out who makes a decent set of pedals.
  5. That isnt monopolistic, thats good business sense, example, say you made a piece of software and were selling it and it did X function, say some kid programmer came along and ripped your software code to see how it worked and then made his own software that mimics yours, but needed parts of your software/module to actually work correctly with games, without your module/interface his sytemw ould be totally useless. So dont you think its fair for NP to stop someone that is UNAUTHORISED from using/abusing their code ? Trying to be a competitor to an established company by mimicing them and needing parts of their system for your system to actually work, and then to offer it for free, how would you expect NP to take this ? say to freetrack that they did a great job ? come on, this is business and if you think any business is going to standby whilst some programmer is makin free competitive software that is using part of NP's system to work in the first place, then you are sadly mistaken, its stupidity that you come on here and claim that NP is monopolistic because its stopping a freeware competitor from interfacing with it, seriously. How would you feel if you designed something and a programmer came along and copied its functions to an extent, but needed a certain part of your system for his system to work, and then offered it up to the world for free ? I am sure you would be happy and thrilled with such a situation, especially when you started to see lost revenue because of it. If free track want to make a head tracking system, a proper one and to offer it for free, ( I will say that I used it before buying tir and I didnt think much of it ), but if they want to make one that works with games, then they should make their OWN software and interface with games using their own interface module, not somebody elses. So it isnt monopolisitc, even though you may feel it is, its just a company keeping other people from abusing its software. You want to interface with a car, you need a key, now say some idiot comes along and interfaces with your car by ripping out the ignition and using your car that way, would you be happy ? no of course you wouldnt because they would be stealing your car. And I think you will find that speaking about cracks and hacks, regardless of what its for is frowned upon and banned on this forum.
  6. yea, the clipping fix isnt a fix per'se, its more of a trade off, tbh, for the miniscule amount of time you are on the deck, it really isnt worth doing anything about, now if it affected us whilst in the air, thats a different story, but for taxing, takeoff and landing, its barely noticeable. When I think of something thats called a "Fix" I think of something that is completely fixed and it doesnt mess up or cause any problems elsewhere in the game which unfortunately the clipping "fix" does.
  7. Yea, I knew you were talking bout helos, I just mentioned a similar story of where something unknown went between the 2 harriers and it gave off alot of smoke. I agree it could of been a Sa2 launched ballistically as it wouldnt give off any warnings except smoke and if the planes hadnt had a MWS that picked up moving objects in your vicinity regardless if it was active or not, which looked like the case here, then they wouldnt of known anything about it til they saw it. Crazy if it was one of them, as A, where did it come from and B, how can they hide a flying telegraph pole from the eyes in the sky, cuz the thing is massive and would of needed transport and setting up, crazy, really is crazy if things like that are being used but, I would still rather be up high and take my chances with the telegraph pole than down low and take my chance against the heaters.
  8. 2 british harriers at 21 thousand feet circling some enemy saw a missile or something fly between them, it detonated above them and left a smoke trail that lasted over 3 minutes. UK Army or RAF said it was RPG :megalol: But, 21 thousand feet, thats surely out of the range for heaters ? plus they got no warning about it until it passed between them, so I think they used a katyusha or some other long range rocket, and shoot it straight up and just got lucky that it went between them, either that or their are uber long range heaters over there ? But a missile or rocket that can get to 21k feet must be a fair size, so I wonder what it was that got shot at them? edit: MIRC Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, so it isnt some Intelligence dude being lazy and using MIRC to chat to his buddies :D
  9. yea, they are back to front, however I fixed it, not sure if you saw the thread that had the fix available, if you never saw it, here it is; http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=927779&postcount=11 basically, it just means putting the tanks in their correct numbered order. 137 and 138 just reverse those numbers for the tanks affected, so if forward tanks is number 137 and rear tank is 138, then change the numbers so that rear tank is 137 and forward tank is 138 and the guages ingame will be correct, works perfect.
  10. No, its been clarified, it came out yesterday, people from within the UK gov have admitted it so the news said this morning. A whole pile of info was leaked to wikileaks and in the 90 thousand files leaked, was the fact that IR missiles have been used to shoot down helos. Up until yesterday I would of went along with you and said none were shotdown as thats what we were lead to believe, obviously for security reasons, but since the leaked materiall became public knowledge it has been verified that the downings indeed did happen, it was all over the UK news this morning.
  11. A couple of aircraft have been shotdown by missiles in Afghanistan, 2007 a uk helo was downed and before that a US helo? both with IR missiles. Both were hushed up and the cause attirubuted to something other than missiles. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jul/25/afghanistan-taliban-missile-strike-chinook
  12. Baby be mine :) and only 399 euros = Ordered.
  13. Nice pic.
  14. and it looks like it even has a rocker rudder, thats something I miss from my old broken x45, I loved that rocker rudder, I hate the twist sticks that saitek released after the 45.
  15. Yup, the escape rocket ontop of the Apollo rockets wouldnt of pulled the re-entry module away from the apollo in time before the rocket blew up. Its on a nasa documentary that was all about the moon landings, the people in command knew about it, not sure if the astronauts knew about it before hand, but they do know about it now as they were on the same programme when it was discussed. It would of taken roughly 4 or 5 seconds for some signal or something to get the escape system to kickin and start to work, by that time the rocket would of been destroyed. Basically the system they speak off was activated by the people on the ground and the signals would of taken to long to get the thing to work before the thing blew up. Now, thats people at nasa saying it, not me, I am only saying what was on the programme, I suppose in certain conditions it might of worked, but if the apollo rocket blew up, or started to they wouldnt of had time to escape so they say. I have a few, well more than a few nasa docos on my harddrive, it will be in one of them, I will have a hunt through them and then host it for you if you are interested, and you see them explain that the escape system and how it was there for show more than anything.
  16. I have a window at my back and its the sunniest window of the whole house and I gave up trying to play when its sunny, even with curtains closed as the tir unit picks up all the IR coming through the curtain fabric. I use the track clip pro which is better than the normal tir hat thingy and it still gets raped by the sun, if I really want to fly on a sunny day I close curtains and clip a tartan rug to the curtain rail to give me that extra sheet to blcok the sun, it works 95% of the time but sometimes it will still steal the tir from me, but a quick re-adjustment of the tir unit usually fixes it if I have the tartan sheet hooked up :) But, here is the thing, you havent really experienced flight because your joystick really is no good, seriously, I have a few sticks and until I got my first hotas years ago I didnt know what I was missing. So since you have a logitech 3d stick, then I would advise against the TIR and I would advise you to buy a decent HOTAS setup first, as that is the most critical part of your setup, the tir can come later and with your hotas you have hat switches so you will get better view control than what you have now with your 3d stick, due to the hats and the mouse stick. HOTAS should ideally come first and tir second in my opinion. better way to look around the cockpit, the x52 and above and some other hotas sticks have a mouse control stick on the throttle, use that and its just like using your mouse to look around the cockpit, faster than a hat switch and better in my opinion when cockpit mouse = true is enabled, that should cover you til say xmas time when you might be able to get tir ?
  17. The unlimited weapons work ok on the 25 and 25t, its just the fuel and immortal that doesnt work. The immortal part was just a test to see if that was also affected. So basically Unlimited Ammo works fine in ALL user aircraft Unlimited Fuel, does not work on the Su25 and Su25t, but it works on all the other user aircraft. Immortal, doesnt work on the su25 and su25t but does work on the other user aircraft. I am not really worried about the fuel or immortal or even the ammo, as I dotn fly like that, it was just last night, I had made a playlist of music and for somereason I was in the mood to just fly for ages around dusk, so I placed a good few targets on the map, spread out all over and I decided that I couldnt be bothered going back and forth re-arming and re-fueling, so I decided to turn on unlimited fuel and unlimited ammo, well the unlimited ammo worked no problem, but then i heard the lady saying fuel 1500 and then bingo fuel etc and I thought, hmm, I hope she is just going through the motions and my fuel really wont run out. I looked at the fuel bars and they were still at full, but the numbers were counting down and then all of a sudden my engines died :( I thought it was a bug or something corrupt in my game, so i then tested other planes with the fuel and ammo and immortal settings, and on the rest of the planes they all worked as expected, only the 25s had problems with fuel and immortal, the immortal i dont care about, but the unlimited fuel is a bugger because it would be good at times to just have unlimited fuel and to fly about without having to land and top up.
  18. They come in red and white ???? I only ever seen black. To the OP, if you have a HOTAS, get tir, if you havent got a hotas get a hotas. TIR is magic, seriously, its like a totally new game when you start flying with tir, but dont fly with a window to your back, as the tir will go nuts on sunny days even with the curtains closed. Also, to answer pythons problems, instead of having to push f12 constantly to recentre the view, do what everyone else does, setup a button on your joystick to do it, so that it becomes natural, even then if you setup your tir correctly and you dont move your body and head from the centre of your monitor, i.e you sit in roughly the same position when playing you should rarely need to push the recentre button unless of course you move your body off centre of your previous centred position or if their is backlighting affecting the tir unit which then basically steals the tir from you and when it gives it back it can sometimes be off centre. Although I find I have to push it more in blackshark than I do in lockon, probably cuz lockon has the full 6dof and lockon hasnt.
  19. Anyone got any ideas why Unlimited fuel doesnt work for the su25 and su25t ? it works for all other planes. Same with Immortal, works for all planes except the su25 and 25t unlimited Ammo works for all planes no problem, but fuel and immortal dont work for the 25s. Reason I ask is, because yesterday I was in the mood to just fly for hours, I cudnt be ass'd refueling, so I turned on unlimited fuel and unlimited weapons. The weapons worked no problem, the fuel bars in the su25t didnt move, they stayed at same level all the time, but the fuel amount readout with the numbers slowly ticked down and when it got to 0 my engines cut out. The fuel bars in the vanilla 25, they slowly decreased as usual, even with unlimited fuel enabled. I then cued up the other planes and unlimited fuel worked perfect with them, so I then tested immortal to see if it had the same problem, I nose dived into the deck with a 29 and indeed I bounced, I then tried with both 25/t and I blew up. So does anyone have any ideas ? is this a known bug ? or is it my install thats fubar'd or does the unlimited fuel and immortal only work for the non AFM planes ?
  20. Alot of songs from Muse is magic to fly to, I have setup a playlist specifically for flying. and finally moving on from muse, if you join a server with whiny little bitches who shoot you on takeoff constantly, this song is dedicated to them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvGW3FonP_8
  21. But its not exactly going to DESTROY NORTH AMERICA as stated is it ? And TBH, although I am not a scientist, I would generally think that Crude oil is too heavy and dense for it to turn into rain. I would take reports of "Oil Rain" in the same vain as I would "Big Bird from Sesame Street shot JFK", until a scientist or Gov spokesperson actually says that they have 100% identified Oil that has rained, then I personally dont believe it as I live next to 2345678909876543 Oilrigs which have had many oil disasters from oil tankers that have run aground and discharged its contents, to the Biggest oil rig in the north sea that was the Main Oil and Gas pumping rig to mainland UK that blew up, and I live in one of the windiest places in the world at times, in winter winds of 80-100mph is the norm for weeks on end at times and I have yet to see Oil Rain hitting my city. I am not saying it cant happen, because I dont know if it can happen, but I just doubt that crude oil can disperse into the air and rain down, maybe if a typhoon picked it up yes, but apart from that then I would have difficulty in believeing it, unless proven by someone with some authority Some Farmer or some media outlet Shouting, Oil Rain >Here< does not count, as their is alot of dodgy crap going on, from defrauding BP by workers claiming to work X hours and days when they didnt work, BP knows about it and have said to their contractors to just pay the workers regardless if they worked or not so that anymore bad publicity is avoided, to a supposed 61'000 bogus, hmm maybe dubious is a better word, claims for compensation, so I would take rumours of Oil Rain with not a pinch but a grain of salt. If it is true, then its a good thing as nobody need drill for oil again, just collect it in buckets and if it lands on your land, sell it to the refineries :D Transocean is an American company Based in Switzerland, it moved there last year - 2009, but its a US company but based over there probably due to the insane amount of money the company makes due to it being the largest offshore drilling company in the world, and the fact that the Swiss have a great setup for big companies like that, rwhen it comes to cash and taxes. TBH, I dont see how the oil leak has made such bad headlines around the world, it isnt exactly that bad, there has been worse, much much worse infact. After katrina and some other natural disasters that the region has experienced, alot of people were wiped out business wise and never got a penny from the US gov, they are now employed by BP cleaning up and may even get some compensation from them ?, when even their own GOV didnt compensate them when katrina and other things hit and caused billions in damages and left the area in a mess and many people homeless and without a single posession to their name. In one place, I cant recall the name, but in one town or city the people there are applauding BP, they know it was an accident, they understand accidents do happen, they see that BP is making amends and is doing as much as anybody can do and have provided for the future enviroment, plus they have employed the majority of the town/city who were unemployed due to previous disasters and were in desperate need of employment. In those peoples eyes, BP has saved that city or town by bringing badly needed money back into the area, ok they would rather it didnt happen, but the way they see it was that they were already living in the worst times they had experienced due to katrina and other things, some lost everything, so to them they were living a disaster before the spill ever happened, BP came along and opened up a main base there to cope with the spill and employed anyone who wanted work and it in a short space of time, it has started to transform those peoples lives simply because they now have money when they previously didnt have any, and their GOV never came to help them, yet it takes an oil spill for these people to start to see a future ahead of them now. How strange things can be, on one hand we have a disaster which nobody wanted to happen, but yet on the other we have people who are glad it happened as it has transformed their lives simply due to $$$$. One side effect to this is my Brother works on a Diving Vessel as a saturation chamber supervisor, basically being in charge of the chamber that the divers live in and then goto work in, and because of the spill his boat has been called back from the gulf and he hasnt worked over there for a few months now, he is stuck in an office and is uber pissed off as he doesnt like the office work, plus being on the boat pays about 2-3 times as much as he gets being onland, but he gets to see his girls everyday so I suppose that makes up for it ? but then again seeing his girls doesnt pay his mortgage :)
  22. Thats why it was called/given the nickname Baby Buff aka Baby B52.
  23. Bring back the piston engined Sky Raider, that would be PERFECT for A'Stan, seriously, great load, great loiter times and fast but slow enough to keep out of harms reach. The Skyraider would be a perfect compliment to the A10 in Stan if you ask me.
  24. This dude once again is nuts. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-10679543?ls Trying to drive faster than 1000mph in a car with a eurofighter engine which gives 9 tons of thrust and a rocket engine that gives out 12 tons of thrust. And on top of that, the wheels are under a 50 THOUSAND G load, yea you heard right, 50 THOUSAND G. I fear we have another Donald Campbell on our hands, even though Wing Commander Green already drove Thrust SSC a few years back, but this attempt is pushing it too far if you ask me and, No way would you get me into one of them, things with wheels that drive along the ground just arent meant to be driven as fast as 1100MPH. I have the utmost respect for him, but he has a uber scary job when it comes to driving the thing.
  25. Seems to be holding, although they are still pressure testing, but the signs look good as no oil is flowing at all at the moment and they only have 30 feet to go on the drilling of relief wells. So it really does look like its coming to an end, the leaking part anyway, the clean up operation on the other hand is only just begining and will take 20 + years to complete, if not 30+ years. But hey, USA has been polluting everyone elses backyard in their search for oil over the years, it had to come back and bite them sooner or later. I remember Piper Alpha, its only 150 miles away from me and when that happened and killed 167 people and destroyed a rig much much bigger than the transocean one, our government and our citizens didnt go apeshite crazy against the USA like the USA has against BP and Britain, Occidental was US owned yet we didnt let loose with all the crazyness that we have seen so far on TV in regards to Blaming the accident on Britain. Typical if you ask me, I just wonder if it was an American company that had caused the accident if tempers would of still run so high ??? But, after alls said and done, I hope the leak has come to an end now. EDIT: If people are gettin sick due to them helping cleanup the spill, then its their own fault for not wearing masks and protective clothing, everybody must know that breathing in fuel fumes is harmful in large quantities, but saying that, I doubt very much people will get sick to any degree that it lasts for the rest of their life, but in the short term it will make people dizzy, sick, etc etc, but lasting health problems I very much doubt. Unless of course the detergent that they spray to disperse the oil on the surface of the water contains bad ass chemicals, but even then I doubt that because the chemicals supposedly cannot be harmful to a large degree to stuff living in the seas. But knowing America, I expect to see a flood of claims against BP in regards to health problems, which probably have nothing to do with the spill, similar to the 61'000 claims for money that BP think are suspect claims, they have already paid out 32'000 claims with another 17'000 in the process of being paid out, but 61'000 are suspect claims in BP's eyes, so I fully expect the same with bogus health claims, not saying everyone will be bogus, but I suspect a whack of them will be and will eventually be denied. This Quote is Stupidity at its best, it was a US News Item with the headline; Toxic Oil Spill Rains Warned Could Destroy North America. WTF, uber scaremongering or what ?
