  1. Dont go nuts and shut down stuff that Blackviper says is ok to shutdown, alot of those services are needed and just because Bviper says that they are ok to shutdown, the chances are that you will end up with something that wont work in your windows install. I think you are doing pretty good if you only have 40 processes running in windows 7 ultimate as thats what I use and I have 50 or so and I keep a tight clean ship, so god knows what all you have shut down. Windows 7 and vista is a totally different beast from XP and shutting all those things down is basically asking for trouble, having programs not start on startup is ok, but shutting down loads of services is aksign for trouble if you ask me.
  2. Yea, I know, the lower I turn it, anti clockwise, the deeper the green gets, the higher I turn it clock wise, the lighter the green gets, but the picture above is with the brightness full up, so thats as light as the green colour goes. I have uninstalled the game, I will reinstall and see if it was something to do with the install or my file tweaks, because I dont like it that colour and, if I remember, it was never that deep of a green that I am seeing now. I know people are saying that its the same as theres and its always been like that, but since BS came out and up until the end of last year, my NV was nothing like the pic I posted above today. I dont touch any colour settings via drivers or on my monitor as all desktop colours and ingame colours are perfect with the exception of the NV, so if no one can remember a patch changing the NV colour, then something has went wrong at my end and what has caused it I do not know. I will re-install and then try it again before I do any tweaks this time, I had added all my tweaks before I started to play last time, so I shall try again without the tweaks and see whats up. I think there is even a post regarding the lack of green colour in the NV system when BS first came out, if I recall it was something to do with the fact that the goggles were image intensifiers that just magnified the ambient light and gave a black/grey/white picture hence the lack of green.
  3. Yea, I know the hud has a night mode and it is in night mode, I just dont remember it being this green, I only seem to recall it being like the youtube video because I liked that so much and I knew straight away something had changed as soon as I pushed H to bring the googles down, even though it was my first night flight for about 6 months or so. I dont touch my gamma and other settings, so they should be the same from vista to win7, i mean every other colour is the same barring the NV which seems to be uber green compared to what I recall what it was like previously. I just dont get it, something is different, but I cant think of anything that would of made it like this apart from a patch ? and I am not even sure if the NV got upgraded in a patch or not.
  4. If you watch this video, from 5:10 onwards you can see the colour of NV I am on about, thats how it used to look like for me, without mods. in that video is how I remember it to be, but flying tonight for the first time since last year, the NV now has a much stronger tint of green to it and to me it looks totally different than what the NV used to look like if I remember correctly, hence I was wondering if there had been a change in any of the patches and also if my picture above looked the same as everyone elses NV. I just cannot recall it being so green, I always remembered it as like a black/grey and white grainy colour, not this green that I see now. Could someone do me a favour and take a pic of their NV and post it here for me to see, because I really think my version is too green, even the hud lettering is green whereas it used to be white at night, so if anyone can post a pic of them up high at night ( not sitting on the runway in the glare of lights ) I would appreaciate it.
  5. I have been away from Blackshark for about 6 months, so I decided to go back it as I never got around to installing it when I got windows 7 last year as I was always going to reinstall windows, basically I was going to use my first install of win7 64 as a test to see how good it was and then following that I would do a real install and then put my games in. Anyway, I didnt get around to a second install because I am lazy and because win7 64 works good, so I decided to install BS last week. Now, flying at night, I always remember the Nighvision system in the shark to be more of a black and white grainy colour than the Green colour that I am getting just now. I did search to see if the newest patch changed the NV colours but I cant find anything anywhere, so what I am asking is, did the NV colours get changed during one of the patches, because I am now seeing a deep green colour for NV compared to the black and white/grey NV of the original shark release. Is this picture the same colour as everyone elses NV ?
  6. If they ever do the Harrier, then it HAS to be the Sea Harrier with the Blue Circle, I mean Blue Vixen Radar :p. No other model will suffice.
  7. Obviously, for safety reasons if not anything else. It was just me saying that I could just "Imagine" them jumping into the pit and going for a joyride dressed as a clown for charity, obviously it wouldnt happen/be allowed, but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pic. Keep up the Joviality, its sorely needed in the RAF ;)
  8. after seeing this post, I went to the xfire website, I dont like xfire myself but I went and watched someone called DangerTM Airborne shoot a few tanks, video was jumpy/jerky at times but on the whole it was smooth enough and I could hear Rob D Clubbed To Death playing in the background :) He needs TIR ;) All in All it was pretty decent.
  9. LOL :megalol: I can just imagine, one of them clowns in the pit flying it for charity or something.
  10. Hallelujah Praise The Lawd
  11. You Still a lover of the green Baize Steve ? I would of thought that with your winnings you could of had a proper hydraulic simulator in your home :) Hope you get your stick sold for a decent price ;)
  12. Umm, you quite sure about that ? because if thats true, then they wouldnt of been flying and fighting in Gulf War 1, yes I know, the Desert is a really Cold place  It was the very early Jags that had difficulty with a *FULL LOAD* taking off in hot weather in Germany, because of their underpowered Ardour engines. Yes, they have no radar, but then again neither does the 25/25t and neither does the A10 and you cant argue that they cant do their job properly ? The nav is better than the su25's, the Jags had a glass MFD cockpit display upgrade which had a moving map display, it had a gps receiver and a terrain comparison system, also it got better ardour 104 engines which solved the problem of the limited payload in hot weather and, then it got better 106 engines. It had helmet mounted sight systems, not exactly shoddy now. The jaguars were pretty decent aircraft and the decision to mothball them early in RAF service was a load of bollocks, they were cheap to build and run compared to other jets and on the whole the jags were reliable and could of easily had a few more years of service before they got scrapped. If they had a couple more hardpoints on each side, they would of been perfect for dedicated ground support role as they had more endurance than the Tonka has without AAR. For something that was meant to be just an advanced training aircraft, it sure turned out to be alot better than that. Nearly all of your post is about the problems the aircraft had after being taken into service, like most new aircraft, once service starts thats where all the problems start to be found because the aircraft are being used and abused daily, but that being said, by the mid 80s all those problems had been fixed. Now leave my Poor Jag alone  :smilewink:
  13. Another tip, close firefox before starting the game. if I have firefox open, even if its minimised the gui will always end up with my taskbar at the bottom and end up flickering, only firefox causes it out of all my apps. It can be solved by disabling aero in win7/vista, but I dont do that so I always make sure to have firefox closed before going ingame.
  14. Great Planes 2008 North American P 51 Mustang ( I doubt that it was made in 2008, but thats the name of the file I have ) if you are interested ?
  15. I dont know how its done everywhere else, but at my local airport, Aberdeen they have loads of helo traffic for the Oilrigs and the helos take exactly the same route as planes, also the same height as I live under the approach and although its noisy, as far as I can tell, helo's do the same as everyone else. The ONLY helos that I have noticed that do things differently are the RAF search and Rescue birds, as they fly over my house on its way to and from the airport and hospital, but they take a diagonal route instead of the normal approach that planes and Oilrig helos take.
  16. I never said it was a direct copy of the su25, but more that it was the only thing that the UK had that was akin to the 25, well that or the hawk. It was capable of taking off and landing on grass, it was cheap to build and cheap to run compared to nearly everything else in the raf, well if you can call having a jet plane cheap to build and run that is, and it had its own laser designator and even a moving map yippee, so to be fair, it was the UK's version of the su25. If the Uk built something specifically to fill the role of 25/a10 then they would of came up with something different, but they didnt and alas, the jag was the only thing in the Uk's arsenal that would of been used to do a similar job as the a10s/25, tonkas dont count as they are just too ugly. Also it was rated to carry nukes :pilotfly: Although I do agree, it doesnt have nearly enough HP's for a dedicated ground attack aircraft like the a10/su25, but as usual, us brits normally get shagged when it comes to buying hardware for our armed forces, what we need we dont get, and what we dont need we get in bucketfuls.
  17. I would love a Sepecat Jaguar in DCS. The info must be out in the wild since most airforces have now abandoned their Jag's Single Seat aswell, so none of this DCS Apache 2 seat malarky, I think the jaguar would be the perfect aircraft for ED to model. But what I REALLY would like is for their next model after the A10 to have an A2G radar, I dont care what plane or helo they put in, aslong as we get a A2G radar to play with as that is sadly missing from the Lockon and DCS series. Tell me that this doesnt look lovely, its basically the British and French version of a SU25t For a really cool pic of one, they dont allow hotlinking so this link will have to suffice as I am too lazy to host it myself :) http://www.airfighters.com/photo/46932/L/UK-Air-Force/Sepecat-Jaguar-GR1A/XZ363/
  18. The video linked to in the first post, just reminds me why I hate the f15 soooooooooooo much in this sim. Pity that Ed didnt decide to take it off its rails in FC2. FC2 should of been ALL aircraft with a flight model similar to the 25ts advanced FM.
  19. if you are using windows 7 or vista it will be in C:/program files x86/Eagle Dynamics or DCS/ka-50/bin/x86/stable/launcher.exe its something like that. you are looking for launcher.exe . on that right click your mouse and then select send to then desktop ( create shortcut ) once you have done that, goto your desktop and then find the icon and then right click on it and select properties. and in the shortcut tab, in the target box, you should have this. C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\KA-50\bin\x86\stable\launcher.exe --console or is it C:\Program Files (x86)\DCS\KA50\bin\x86\stable\launcher.exe --console I think you Might ? need to add --console yourself if your shortcut you made doesnt automatically have it, leave a space between exe and -- console. I have my game installed somewhere else, but I suspect the links above are somewhat correct and after you make your own shortcut you will find out which one is the correct one, I just think you will have to add --console at the end of it, but you should have no problem making the shortcut with the directions above.
  20. Ok, I have uploaded the Buccaneer Nato Open Gate programme. those who want it pm me.
  21. Oh ok, if they are all up on youtube, click on A.S sig, then I have no need to upload the fighter/test/combat series, unless somone wants a copy to keep ont here harddrive ? I will however upload the Buccaneer one as its missing I think from A.S youtube page. and another I have, bbc horizon, air crash the wrong stuff, another oldie. plus a Tornado DVD that details the tornado from manufacturing to flight. I have about 70+ gig of flying stuff, war, sea, military etc etc, so if there is anythign anyone wants I will put a list up and will upload whatever anyone needs. EDIT: Great Youtube page A.S ;)
  22. I have in my collection the Old BBC TV series of Fighter, Test and Combat Pilot and also the Buccaneer NATO OpenGate Programme from the BBC also, they are from the 70s/80s/90s. The total size is roughly 7 n half gig for all of them If I upload to my server, would there be any interest ? let me know what you think and if there is enough interest I will upload.
  23. The gear beong able to retract whilst on the ground like the pic above is a feature, its the same in the real aircraft as ED have already said when FC first came out a few years ago. In the manual it states that if you are skidding off the runway and cant control the direction of the plane and notice that you will leave the runway and end up on the grass, the correct procedure is to retract the gear so that you skid on your belly and open the canopy whilst doing an emergency shutdown of the engines. But the gear being able to retract whilst stationary on the ground is a feature of the real plane. Its as it is in RL..
  24. Option 2, as I cant laminate here and I would love to get a pre-laminated map.
