And, as far as I am aware, they cannot goto max power, they are limited in the amount of power they apply simply because the engines are too powerful for the gearbox, or some other part of the helo. So although it has more powerful engines, the extra power goes unused. Whether that has changed I do not know, but in Ed macy's book if I recall, he mentions the fact that they are limited in the amount of power they apply because of the damage that can be caused because of it.

No, I run windows 7 ultimate and the update IS for windows 7. The only thing I can think of is that you choose the middle download, or they have removed the win7/server2008 fixes and added them to windows updates. have a look to see if you have KB979223 already installed. Anyway, check your pm, the hotfix I and other win7 users used ( win7 x64 intl ) and which works is inbound ;) ( I saved the hotfix on my pc in feb/march when it first came out so that I could use it if I ever formatted, so this one should work for you ) BTW http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wfp/thread/c023b15a-a319-471b-b1e4-401ecc7f59cc is the bottom post you ? :)

Agreed, the Khod looks exactly like what we have in FC, looks like someone got the name wrong ? If that is the case, then IR for the 25T is legit.

I have never specifically tried to land and re-arm but selecting a loadout that doesnt have fueltanks, then re-arming with a loadout that does have tanks. I havent specifically tried that. I normally land with my tanks unless I really need to ditch em. Sometimes I have noticed that when I ditch them and then come back to base to re-arm, all the weapons get replaced, but I am left with 2 or 4 empty hardpoints where the tanks should be as they never got replaced. Sometimes when rearming they get replaced and sometimes they dont. But, whatever happens, if I refuel, its only internal fuel that gets filled up, so the gauges say. If I drop the tanks and then land and refuel, once I have max internal fuel, I then re-arm, if the tanks appear back on my wings as sometimes they do not, but if they do appear, the fuel gauges still read max internal fuel. Also, this may not be connected, but unlimited fuel doesnt work in the rogs for me either, unlimited ammo does, but fuel doesnt and neither does immortal, as i tried it when I was testing. Unlimited fuel works for the KA50, so I cant see why it wouldnt work for the 25s only in lockon FC2. I suspect that the fuel tank problem and the unlimited fuel problem I am having with the 25s in FC2 are connected somehow. When I first installed the sim, when going into the ME, usually the very first land vehicle I chose would normally produce a popup game error, which I had never seen in any iteration of ED's work previously, I just alt tab and then close the error's and then continue working in the ME. That problem hasnt happened again for a good few weeks, but it was persistent when I first installed FC2 and apart from the fuel problem, I dont notice any other bug that stands out. Am about to get a new rig anyway, so I will be starting from a clean slate, bout time as my SSD's need a good cleanout but I cant be bothered doing it ATM, I will be forced to do it when my new stuff arrives :) Just to add, I am using ricardo pits with the orange light fix, instead of having blue and orange internal lights for the SU25.

It was early LLTV I am on about when I said it would probably be difficult to spot stuff, cuz I figured that the mercury pod is old, I dont know if it is or not ? Todays LLTV is remarkably clear considering it gets cleaned up by digital processing, but the early stuff was bad, but it was better than what they had otherwise. I seen images from mid to late 80s from the F111, although you could see, it was very grainy and at times very difficult to spot certain things and depending on the moon and the stars, it might actually be much worse as the darker it is, the worse it gets, it needs some form of light to enhance the overall picture, on moonless nights the picture quality suffered, although that could be compensated for to a degree or two. In Vietnam they used LLTV on 1 mission I know of in the very late 60s or very early 70s, the LLTV used was useless on that particular night, so it went. It was strapped to a helo for a specific mission and even when they were right over the target area/co-ords, they couldnt make out the area or tower that they were supposed to land next to on screen, in the end someone hung over the side of the helo and had to guide the pilot, simply because it was a moonless night and it wasnt great weather. It has totally changed from then til now, Digitial processing has managed to clear things up that wouldnt of been possible in years gone by. You just have to watch nature programs nowadays to see that LLTV has come on leaps and bounds, there was one from the BBC with Attenborough, it was at night and in black and white, but at times you could see a very subtle hint of brown and other dull colours, very subtle might I add, so it wasnt just black and white, it was a mixture or dark and light colours and was very very sharp and clear. Attenborough said it was filmed using a new type of LLTV camera that was supposedly a breakthrough for filmmakers if I recall correctly. It was so clear that it looked like Hi Definition, thats how good the cameras picked up the animals, really sharp quality picture, so if TV companies can get hold of that, then how good is the militaries kit, 5x better, 10x better ??? I do realise that LLTV nowadays is basically as good as normal day time TV when it comes to picture quality, albeit its in a different colour. I do not know when the mercury pod came into service with the Russian Airforce, so I cannot comment on the quality of its optics/on screen display. But I was thinking that it wasnt the latest generation, hence me saying that it might of been hard to spot stuff with if ED decided to replicate it correctly.

I agree with you completely, if it says its LLTV, then it should only be LLTV that we see ingame, but its obvious that its IR that we are getting instead. Not that it bothers me. I dont know the true capabilities of the Mercury Pod, but I would think if it did have some IR capability, then I suspect that we would all know about it by now. Also, maybe it was just easier for ED to just port over the A10's IR onscreen view, when it came to implementing a solution to the mecury pod's TV view when the SU25T first made an appearance in FC. I suspect that ED went with the IR view simply because, if the 25T did just have pure LLTV ingame, it would probably look so bad and be extremely difficult to spot targets with, that it probably wouldnt be worth using. So using the A10s IR model would probably of been the best solution for all concerned, as it was well known that early LLTV was extremely difficult to spot things with it. Thats my opinion, however I would like things to reflect exactly how they are in the wild if it is at all possible.

However funny that is, and I do think it is teh funneh. It is however fake, it never happened, supposedly, I dunno if its fake or not but I can surmise for myself that it is, but I truly dont know, but word is that it is a genuine fake :) It does make for a good read, well a good read up until the air to ground sidewinders part, had they just said "our defensive system locked onto and jammed your signal" it would of been alot more plausible. But good laugh nonetheless. Compare it with this version. USMC speeding ticket Top this for a speeding ticket: Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, North of MCAS Miramar. One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching near the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300+ miles per hour. The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and turned off. Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked onto a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location. Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander. Back came a reply in true USMC style: Thank you for the message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident. You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it. Furthermore, an air to ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment. Fortunately the Highly Trained Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar was destroyed. Thank you for your concerns.

You should of seen and heard the lightning that we had last night, crazy crazy loud, I actually thought someone let off two bombs directly outside my house, I am sure it must of hit the ground not far from me? Worst thunder and lightning I have seen/heard for a long long time, maybe ever ?

Not like they gunna get far using it as a "bug" At worst they will be able to see enemy planes before they probably would see them, but they are in a 25t, what they gunna do, go on the offensive and wipe out a load of f15s ? Its not like the frogs dont already have IR capability (albeit without a TV Screen) simply by changing to A2A mode if they are carrying heaters. It really is a none bug in my opinion, I would say that the only threat that it would pose would be to the KA50. But saying that, if it is 100% LLTV only, then it shouldnt have IR capability unless the system was designed to offer both IR and LLTV capabilities ?

25t - 25, single player. I havent tried the solution posted at the begining of this thread as I have been pretty busy, I will try soon though. But mvsgas, it happens when carrying 2 or 4 tanks, inner and outer. Once used, if I land and ask for a refill, the refill counts upto 3760 or so internal fuel ( which is the max internal fuel that the frog can carry ) and then refilling stops. If I ask for a re-arm with the default loadout, which is the one I am using at the start of the mission with whatever amount of fueltanks. I get new weapons, but I dont think it gives me new tanks, if it does replace the external fuel tanks, they look as though they are empty when going by the internal fuel gauges, as the amount of fuel onboard is still 3760 or thereabouts. Hopefully the solution given at the start of the thread works, I will find out tonight at somepoint. If other people notice it and say that they dont refill properly judging by the fuel gauges, then maybe its a bug that affects some people and not others ? or maybe you just havent noticed the amount of fuel you have at the begining of a flight and then comparing that with how much you have after refuelling. It could be a few things.

If you use windows 7, the low resources warning that you see might be caused by a bug in windows 7, vista and server 2008, that uses up all system resources eventually either making pc usage impossible and giving out low resources error, or crashing your pc. MS did release a hotfix, but did not put the fix on the list of normal MS updates. It affected me and was solved by the fix. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979223/en-us and this is a direct link to the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=979223&kbln=en-us I am not saying that your low resources warning is due to this, it could possibly be just the fact that you have played for hours, but I thought I would mention it in anycase.

I am using win7 64 and its basically the same as 32bit. The only thing that might confuse you is if you do move to win7 64 or even vista 64, you will have 2 different program files folders for installed programs. One is called Program Files ( that is for 64bit programs only, 64bit apps will auto install to that folder ) And the other is Called. Program Files X86 ( All 32bit apps are auto installed into there ) So it is no real biggie, one folder for each version of applications. Apart from that, you really wont notice a difference in how things are laid out etc. You will notice that things seem snappier, especially if you have over 4 gig of ram, I certainly did and I think most people did to some degree also. Overall 64bit is the way to go and it is the better OS compared to 32bit, you will very much enjoy the upgrade :) I cant really help you in regards to the difference between 32bit FC2 and 64bit FC2, as I have only ever run FC2 in 64bit.

ChromeWasp, have you ever heard the name Ed Macy before ? He happens to be an RAF WAH64 Pilot, the UK version of the longbow Apache. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgustaWestland_Apache Here is Ed's Twitter page, everybody has a Twitter page nowadays :helpsmilie: He has written a couple of books regarding flying and fighting in the WAH64 in Afghanistan. One of them is called Ed Macy Apache, I cant recall what the other is called, so you will have to forgive me, but Apache is a great book which I can fully recommend buying. He is also a member of these forums, he also has DCS Blackshark and he also gave it a GLOWING SEAL OF APPROVAL for its hi fidelity and exacting attention to detail. He even mentioned that the helicopter physics feel right and act like the real thing in regards to the helicopters he flies as he obviously hasnt flew the KA50 IRL. If you search the forum you shall find his posts. He also did a review when DCS BS first came out and he gave it the same glowing recommendation. So, Ed a real Apache Longbow pilot, not to mention the Russian Sniper Pilots whose input was used to make the game and also used to test it afterwards to see if the helo felt correct whilst in flight. Both of those Camps say that this sim really has the fidelity down to a T and, that the Helo flies and feels like the real deal. I would be more inclined to believe him/them, than say for example, yourself. If I just happened to join these forums today and asked a question about how the helo handles etc, and say I got a mixture of answers/replies from the above people I mentioned and also yourself, with your replies coming from several of your posts that you made in this particular thread. After reading and judging each answer/reply carefully, I would be more inclined to believe them than I would you, simply because they are actual Military Helicopter pilots, either working on the actual real ka50, or working on something similar in a different country. Both camps have the knowledge and skills to fly a real helicopter, they also have the same skills when it comes to flying in Military simulators or normal PC sim's like DCS BS whereby they can then judge if DCSBS feels the same as A, the Real helicopter and B, the Real Helicopters Training simulator. So, with everything they have gone through, Military training wise and flight wise, to then say that the sim has it down pat when it comes down to the way the Shark handles in flight, but you dont agree with them for whatever reason, which person do you think that the shit answer comes from ?

Ok, make it 25 minutes

Come on GG, you know he can code a flight sim on his iphone in 20 minutes :music_whistling:

You know what would probably be an excellent idea ChromeWasp. See if someone, either a squad or just a single person not affiliated with a squad, if someone has spare time, maybe it would be an excellent idea if you could go online with them and learn from someone on a one to one basis. all you need is a microphone and headphones/headset and you are then all good to go. I am sure someone here will be willing to try and show you what you are doing wrong and at the same time help you learn things that you find confusing or just downright hard. I think that would be the best way for you to get to grips with this sim, you need to be in an online enviroment where flying the shark can be shown to you and advice/help given to you if needed. If you did that, I am sure that within a week or 2 you will have changed your mind about this sim. I am also sure, even after all the stupid stuff that was said in some of your posts in this thread, I am sure people here will still be willing to help you fly/teach you online if you are so willing. If you could fly online with someone who will focus on teaching/helping you to learn to fly the shark, you will pick things up alot quicker than if you were learning it by yourself in single player mode. Give it a try and see, at worst you wont like it, at best you will get to know the shark quicker and probably become a much better pilot alot quicker than would probably be the case in single player mode. You will probably make new friends also, what can be so bad about that ?
-
You 100% sure about that ? I would love that to be true. I cannot say if it is or not because after refilling, it would only refill the internal tanks or so the gauges say. So after taking off and then flying about etc, I would always land before they went to empty. I never carried on flying past empty to find out if they were filled or not. I shall give it a try and get back to you. Cheers.

Does anyone know how to refill the frogs external tanks once they are used up ? No matter what I try, I just cannot get them to refill. When I land, I goto refuel, but they dont fill up, only the internal tanks do. Also, if I re-arm with the default loadout, the tanks will still remain empty, I dont think they even get changed when re-arming with the default loadout ? So, does anyone know how to refill external fuel tanks for the frogs once they become empty, is their a file edit to do it ? is their anyword of a fix in an upcoming patch ? As this is really bugging me now, as I love flying a particular mission I made, but its a long haul flight and it NEEDS tanks and not being able to refill the externals is really crippling me. Any info would be great. Cheers.

Which Air superiority fighter aircraft you fly ?
bumfire replied to mig29's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
29s all the way if I HAVE to jump into a fighter, as I am more of a ground pounder myself. -
The helo missions in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas ? Please tell me you dont really mean it when you say "Heli-Sim" As there is nothing Sim about the helo's in ANY of the GTA games. Maybe enjoyable ? but Sim it is not and, if your basing all of your assumptions on how the KA-50 should fly on the way Helo's fly in GTA, then either this Sim isnt for you or you need to forget about everything you learned about Helo's when playing GTA and start afresh with DCS.
