I went to the website and that yellow arrow is for arcade mode, it is a waypoint indicator so they say. There is a simulation mode which does not have the arrow and they are supposedly making the cockpits 3d+clickable and fully 6dof.

From what I have heard, it is meant to be a good precise stick, but also from what I have heard, it takes alot of getting used to and some people simply cant get into the groove whilst using it and have decided to get another stick. I would seriously suggest that you find a store or a friend who has one for you to have a test to see if its something that you think you will like. Some stores have them or did have them on display so people could check them out, see if you can find such a store and if they dont have one on display, ask them if they will open a box for you to check it out, if they work on sales commission then they will do anything to get that sale.

I actually did have both, I dont now. I started off with the x45, I loved that stick, the rocker rudder, beautiful, then then the x52 came out, I didnt like the look of it, too spacy I thought, so I didnt buy it. My X45 went on the fritz, the connector where the wire plugs into the back of the throttle if I recall, it wasnt working correctly and all the thresholds on the throttle were mashed up, so I called the store and even though it was more than one year old they gave me my cash back :) I then promptly bought a x52 as I couldnt find a new x45 anywhere. This was only 6 or so months after the x52 was released. Move forward a few years, the x52 pro came out, I took one look at it and fell in lurv, thats what the x52 should of looked like to start with, instead of the space age looking thing we have now. Anyway I bought the pro model, used it for about 2 months before it too died on me, I got my cash back and decided that their was nothing that much extra apart from looks that the pro brought to the table, thus I never bought a replacement as my original x52 vanilla was still working and STILL works perfectly to this day. Granted it doesnt look its best, but the only thing wrong is the paint has worn away, apart from that, it works the same as the day I got it all those years ago. So they do last, my one has even taken a fair amount of abuse/accidents and it is still A ok. I dont know if the components inside the x52vanilla and pro are any different ? or if one has better components than the other, but if the 52 came out in 2004 as kenan implies, then I have had this particular one for 5 years +, I had my 52 pro for 2-3 months before it died. I wouldnt say either one is better than the other, you get good and bad ones from both sticks, but what I do know is, the vanilla x52 does last, even with a rough hand. EDIT: Just to add, if I was buying a stick from the X52 range today, I wouldnt now, but if i were to buy one, it would be the pro, simply because of the looks, thats the only reason, cuz apart from that they are basically the same function wise, except for the lcd display on the throttle that can display things from a certain flight sim and which turned out to be a really useless feature IMHO.

You will need to do a fair bit of remapping in my opinion, the basics are there to some degree, some settings will need to be reversed, others will be ok, and then you will need to setup the keys and modes. To be honest, you will probably find yourself spending hours and hours/days and days making a profile. You will make a small one to start with and then you will get adventurous and make more complicated ones. Overwhelming to start with but you will soon settle into profile making. As for the X52 pro lasts longer than the vanilla x52, I dunno, I have had my x52 vanillas since not long after they came out, and that was years ago and the thing still works perfect, only exception being that the thumb slider paint has worn off, same with the T1 T3 T5 markings on the stick, just keeping me going til the warthog stick is available :) If I was you I would avoid the X65, it doesnt move, so I dont know if you would find that comfortable or not.

A few years ago I got a free book, it was titled, USN A4-Skyhawk Paint Schemes, or something like that, I cant recall what the exact title was, but it was something like that. I thought how cool, I love that plane, seriously, I really like that plane along with the intruder. I thought to myself that I will be able to see all the funky paint schemes that they have for each squadron/carrier etc and from the cover it really wetted my tastebuds. I opened the book to find out the entire thing was made up of Black and White pictures  Major Phail.

to unpause the game, try either pushing ESC OR the PAUSE/BREAK key, usually its the PAUSE key, but, if you push ESC before pushing PAUSE, the game wont start until you push the ESC key again, I know, they have a weird setup, but it should work.

Once I ejected cuz both my su25t engines were on fire and my fuselage was on fire after I sustained a near IR missile hit and a few rapido 23mil cannon rounds from a shilka. I ejected, the fuselage fire went out and the plane kept flying straight and level since it was on autopilot, how it didnt crash i do not know as the engines were both winding down after I got hit and were basically stopped before I ejected, but the thing kept on flying straight and level with no canopy and no pilot, it only stopped when it went into the side of a mountain, but that was a good 5-10 minutes after I ejected.

In dcs A10, the map is expanded, so I think once DCS A10 is released and when they have time to make a patch for blackshark, they will bring the map upto DCS A10 standards. As far as I know, the new map stretches further into Georgia, I dont know if it goes further into Russia aswell ? but it definetly goes alot further into Georgia as it has already been stated as doing so. EDIT: Oh Snap, Eddie beat me to it by um, a second ?

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
bumfire replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
You Gotta admit, ricardo did a magic job on those russian pits. Also, I dunno about anyone else, but I have recently installed the f15 model by gys I think it was ? But when having a loadout of sparrows and 120s on the f15, the missiles touch each other, the tip of one missile is inserted into the bottom of the other missile when loaded onto the aircraft. This only happens with the missiles that are on the sides of the f15. Anyone else see that with their f15 ? Anyway, great pics. -
Ha, I bet you had Viper looking through all 4,267 posts of his to make sure he didnt actually say it :D

Why not take the phantasmagoria pod and some kh58s and also loadout some vihkrs, you get the best of both worlds that way. If you are in the right mode, you should get launch permission for the kh58s ages before you come into harms way. Also, you need to launch the viks at their max range and not be approaching the target fast, when you fire do a very gentle bank, but keep the target locked up and the missile will hit and do it without them firing at you in the process. Only if its strelas or other IR missiles mind you, radar guided ones you want to take out from as far away as possible, but not at the edge of your missiles capabilities, as its likely to miss or get shot down if you launch at rmax. Remember, you dont have to have a perfect lock to take out a target with viks, lockup where the target is, and then do a weapons override command and then fire, just keep it lased and it should hit if you are not too far away, more height will give you a better chance of hittign the target from a distance with the viks. BTW, you cant use the KH58 or the karen MPU missiles with the mercury pod, they need to be used with the phantasmagoria pod instead, everything else can be used with either the mercury pod or just the standard daytime shkval, Sead missions really need the phanta pod for the 58/karen mpu missiles to be able to lockon to the radar signals coming from the radars, also note that early warning radars EWR will lock up but you cannot shoot them using the kh58/karen mpu missiles, they will blow up if launched a few feet infront of you, so disregard EWR stations as they are a waste of a good missile, unless you are taking them out with vihkrs.

GTX 470 hmmm not so much improvement in FC2
bumfire replied to Saeid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Lockon and DCS are CPU bound more than bound by your video card. Any decent video card from say a 8800gtx will run this game perfect graphical wise, any stuttering and slow downs are caused by the cpu, better cpu wil give better results, but graphical wise, a 8800gtx is mroe than ample for lockon and dcs.. To get the best out of Lockon/DCS, well DCS blackshark anyway, maybe DCS a10c will be different, but to get the best out of it, all you need is a mid range video card but a high end cpu, so its no surprise that you dont see that much of a difference with a GTX470 compared to yourlast card. Although your clock speeds remain low in your video card, it will infact be in 3d mode, it just wont be needing alot of power thus it remains clocked lower as the power settings are probably on adaptive, to change that go into the nvidia control panel and in the manage 3d settings goto power management mode and then select maximum performance, that means your card will run fully clocked all the time. I dont see the need to do it for lockon as you wont get any gain in fps or eye candy. -
malwarebytes anti-malware blocks something from that website as being "Teh Bad". Not sure what it is, but some IP got blocked as being malicious, pity as I was wanting to check out some C-130 p00nage.

Sorry guys, I didnt even know I was meant to post something, as I hardly if ever looked at this thread. Ok, sorry for keeping everyone waiting :( What is this and more importantly, what aircraft does it come from ? ( It would be the item thats green/brown if anyone is wondering ) I should also add that the very top part of it is missing. -
Raid both SSD's. I have 2 128gig SSD's, I have them setup as raid 0, and I use a few 1 - 1.5TB harddrives for storage. I will say that 60gig total is kinda small, especially if you have alot of games to install. If you ask me, I would raid them both and use them as your OS drive, if you are using XP then you MUST makesure that your drives are aligned correctly before installing windows, if you use vista or windows 7 then your SSD's will get auto aligned whilst you create a new partition to install windows on. Raid and install lockon/dcs to the ssd's, as its much quicker at loading and for loading different areas of the map once you start flying. You could then use your raptors either singly or as raid 0 for the rest of your games or whatever. If you are new to SSD's, there is alot of reading up to do to get the best performance out of them and what not to do, i.e never defragment your ssd's.

Pilotasso, you have to reply, if only to keep "Grooves OT Dump" thread alive :) But I can understand why you wouldnt want to reply, must get annoying repeating the same thing over and over again.

Also, there was a fighter variant of the blackbird. YF12 with missiles, not sure if he knew about that ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_YF-12 As you say groove, you just cant compare a blackbird with a 25, I dont think you can compare the blackbird to anything ? I love all types of aircraft regardless of who makes em, each country who make AC all at certain times have made great AC, whether it be American, Russian, British, French etc etc. One thing i will say about Russian planes is, they were built to endure a great temp difference, from upto -60oC in winter to upto +60oc in summer, so although Russian aircraft may look rough, its because they were designed to work in all types of weathers and work from airbases/strips that were empty for 9 months of the year. So you have to give the russians a pat on the back for makin aircraft that can take a lot of punishment, try the same thing with NATO aircraft and see how quickly they start to develop problems.
