  1. Raid both SSD's. I have 2 128gig SSD's, I have them setup as raid 0, and I use a few 1 - 1.5TB harddrives for storage. I will say that 60gig total is kinda small, especially if you have alot of games to install. If you ask me, I would raid them both and use them as your OS drive, if you are using XP then you MUST makesure that your drives are aligned correctly before installing windows, if you use vista or windows 7 then your SSD's will get auto aligned whilst you create a new partition to install windows on. Raid and install lockon/dcs to the ssd's, as its much quicker at loading and for loading different areas of the map once you start flying. You could then use your raptors either singly or as raid 0 for the rest of your games or whatever. If you are new to SSD's, there is alot of reading up to do to get the best performance out of them and what not to do, i.e never defragment your ssd's.
  2. Pilotasso, you have to reply, if only to keep "Grooves OT Dump" thread alive :) But I can understand why you wouldnt want to reply, must get annoying repeating the same thing over and over again.
  3. Also, there was a fighter variant of the blackbird. YF12 with missiles, not sure if he knew about that ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_YF-12 As you say groove, you just cant compare a blackbird with a 25, I dont think you can compare the blackbird to anything ? I love all types of aircraft regardless of who makes em, each country who make AC all at certain times have made great AC, whether it be American, Russian, British, French etc etc. One thing i will say about Russian planes is, they were built to endure a great temp difference, from upto -60oC in winter to upto +60oc in summer, so although Russian aircraft may look rough, its because they were designed to work in all types of weathers and work from airbases/strips that were empty for 9 months of the year. So you have to give the russians a pat on the back for makin aircraft that can take a lot of punishment, try the same thing with NATO aircraft and see how quickly they start to develop problems.
  4. Huh ?
  5. Same video I have but different programme. It does have something, looks like 2 things, on the centreline, what I dont know . But you are correct, I thought it had stuff on the wings which it doesnt, but in anycase, it did get airborne, so in all probability it probably could get airborne with a small load, say 500Lb'er on each wing ? when working off of a rough strip. It was designed to be able to do that, as that is the reason for its funky wheel setup, so I do think if push came to shove, it could get airborne with some sort of loadout.
  6. click on the processes tab in task manager and then right click on the simulator.exe and select affinity, then untick all cpu's except cpu0 for 1 core, and then select cpu0+1 for 2 cores etc etc EDIT: Snap, Nate got there a second or so before me, follow his example of doing it, to save any confusion.
  7. I dont know about russian aircraft, but I do have a video of a unloaded RAF jaguar taking off from a patch of grass, its what it was designed to do, hence the double wheels. And it was just a patch of grass, nothing special. I wouldnt like to do such a thing with the 25t, thats for sure, but I am sure the 25 could handle such a deed with no problems.
  8. If you didnt want to upgrade your motherboard, why dont you buy a sata pci or pcie card, plug that into a free pci/pcie port and then connect your harddrives to the card, bypass your onboard sata ports entirely. That would work and save you a lump of cash on having to buy a new mobo.
  9. What I would like is, not a full blown DCS - eject - ARMA situation, but, a situation where if you eject, you have to evade the enemy forces just long enough til a scripted CSAR package can get to you. All scripted, as all you do is run after you have ejected, maybe also push a button to pop smoke or let a beacon start transmitting so that the scripted CSAR package can get a more accurate fix on you. Once the CSAR helo is above you, say within a 500m diameter circle or so, then you are automatically hoisted above and respawn at the airfield, or you get the respawn/abort/quit menu options. Make it so the CSAR helo wont come closer than 1 mile to any enemy position/vehicle, so if you eject, you would have to run 1 mile away from the nearest enemy position and then wait X minutes for csar to get your rough location, then you pop smoke or transmit a locator beacon and the helo will get a proper fix and pick you up. Also have it loaded up with flares, chaff and onboard jammers. It could be done quite easily I think, but there is alot more things that need to be done long before something like this.
  10. Artillery spotting balloon from ww1 ? or Japanese floating bombs to hit the mainland USA ?
  11. Yea, I personally think Immortal was enabled, but the video said it wasnt and the reason the helo didnt crash and burn was because it had hardly any fuel and no weapons, but even that wouldnt stop the blades from colliding I dont think ? I havent tried to copy the video, but I have did power dives in the shark and normally it ends badly once I get above 360kph.
  12. I cant recall exactly, but I think someone posted a youtube video of the KA50 in dcs hitting near enough 500KPH. Probably with "Immortal" enabled.
  13. Its a hybrid helicopter, since it has the pusher prop. Hybrid types are types that combine features of helicopters and fixed wing designs, V22 Osprey being one, any record they set will not be pure Helicopter records and will not break the existing world helicopter speed record set by G-LYNX many many years ago.
  14. If in doubt, fly towards the vehicle you suspect may or may not be the enemy, if it shoots at you, then its then enemy :)
  15. Kopp - As the unit procurement costs of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter progressively converge with the unit costs of the F-22A Raptor, and the F-35 becomes progressively less survivable as threats evolve, it is time for the UK to cut its losses, bail out of the JSF program, and opt for the F-22A instead. This was in 2009 he said that, no way are the UK ever gunna be A, allowed to buy the F22 and B, couldnt even afford it even if they were allowed to buy it. He says the unit costs of the f35 is expensive, yet he would rather us buy something even more expensive, I dont understand the reasoning behind the above statement. Flyaway cost as of 2010 for F35 is est89 million dollars, as projected by USAF in 2010. Roughly between 60 - 113 million dollars for the various different versions. Flyaway cost for F22 as of 2009 was 150 million dollars, FY2009. Obviously the f35 isnt a f22, and it is eminently less survivable in certain conditions, but the US isnt allowing export of the f22 even if we had the cash to buy it, which we dont. That was known in 2009, so why say that we the uk should opt for the f22 ? It seems a stupid thing to say knowing that the f22 isnt up for export or infact isnt even made anymore. I am not gunna get into an arguement about his qualifications or whatever as I dont know the bloke and up until now havent read his site, but the above text is kinda stupid if you ask me, because he must know that the F22 isnt being exported to anyone, so the UK couldnt just leave the f35 programme and "Opt" for the F22 instead, as he puts it.
  16. You do get Opaque filters for IR, that block visible light but allow IR light to pass through. So the front bottom half of that merkurij pod maybe is a opaque IR filter ? Just look at some of the russian IR missiles for example, they have opaque/non see through IR covers and can still track IR sources, so couldnt the front bottom of the merkurij pod in that photo be the same thing ? As thats what I think it looks like, it could possibly be an opaque cover that protects the flat optics that are behind it ? I dont know what it is, the pic says its Merkurij, but I really dont know. It could be a radome as you say, but then again it could be Khod IR with an opaque protective covering for the lenses/optics ? The Kopyo radar pod looks totally different, especially at the front, I dont know what the Kinzhal radar pod looks like as I cant find an image of it. We need someone to come out and give us a definitive answer of what it is. EDIT: and this is the website it came from, its in spanish, the site says the Khod is a tech demonstrator, it maybe isnt now, but was back then, and the Merkurij pod is LLTV and IR http://www.defensa.pe/showthread.php?p=211423 That thread has some really good info regarding the SU25, its in spanish, but it is well worth a read, use google translator and it will auto translate the pages into english or whatever language you want on the fly.
  17. I get that when I lock on EWR, I have to override the system to allow me to fire as you never get LA when locked onto a EWR, but if you fire, the KH blows up soon after. I think that is how ED intended it to be for EWR targets. But, it only happens with EWR, never against other radar targets, so I am not sure why its happening against Rolands and Gepards. Saying that, you are using the wrong missile for killing a roland or gepard with, the 58 is for long range targets, although it should still work, but you would be better using the 25mpu, because you have to be really close to a roland or gepard before their radar becomes active and you can lock them up.
  18. This thread is going nowhere. It has totally and utterly deviated from the Original Post. Nobody can agree on anything and, the more it continues the more vocal and personal it gets. I personally dont know who is right and who is wrong, so I wont even speculate. But I do know that this thread hasnt just been derailed, its actually jumped the tracks and landed on rails going in the opposite direction.
  19. What can I say ? I did what you did, I selected a georgian 25t, I loaded 4 tanks 2 r60s and took off from batumi and then dumped fuel til 1000kg left, landed, refuelled and had max internal fuel of 3760*, then I did a re-arm and the fuel load went upto 6100. It worked. But it doesnt always do that, because I have landed, re-fueled and re-armed previously when I made missions, and only had max internal fuel after a refuel/rearm. I hardly ever fly with 4 tanks, its usually only 2, so I will now do this. I will select a russian 25t as thats who I normally fly for, then select 2 tanks, inner hardpoints and do the same procedure as above, and then post the results. I will then repeat with outer hardpoints. If it works this time then i will really be dumbfounded, as many many times I have landed and refuelled and re-armed to find out I only have max interal fuel. Brb in 10 EDIT: Well, it worked again, either you have unjinxed me/my game or I was doing something wrong ? But I cant see what I was doing wrong because I would fly, use up fuel, land, refuel and re-arm with default loadout whatever that loadout happened to be, and the majority of the time it would only show internal fuel. Also, on a couple of occassions, if I re-armed before I did the refuelling, if the re-arming worked properly, when I went to refuel, it would start taking fuel from the aircraft instead of giving fuel to me. That happened roughly twice in all the times I have flew FC2. I really cant figure out what if anything I was doign wrong, because what you did and I did today, is exactly what I would normally do. Fly, land, refuel, rearm. Anyway thank you for taking your time to help out, it was much appreaciated mvsgas.
  20. I am just about to have something to eat and then I will give it a try and post back. roughly in an hour or so.
  21. Yea, I couldnt exactly recall the exact part of the helo that would suffer due to the increased power, I thought it was the gearbox but wasnt exactly sure. I knew the increased engine power could cause problems, but what exactly, eluded me as its been a year or two since I read Apache.
  22. Come to think of it, I think the magazine or book that the pictures above are taken from has it wrong. Because LLTV needs to have a viewport of somesort, in the picture above ( the one named Merkurij LLTV ) there doesnt look to be any viewport, it looks more IR to me. I could be wrong, but I think the naming is the wrong way around.
  23. Ahahahaa.
  24. ^ lol Says it all :)
