  1. Sorry to hear that the hotfix didnt work, I used it because of sabnzdb, as soon as it started it would within about 10 minutes or more it would eat up the majority of my 4 gig of ram, rising every 2-3 seconds by a few MB, I eventually found the hotfix and it worked a treat. Do you disable your antivirus whilst playing ? as maybe the the realtime protection is scanning every file that lockon is opening and using thus increasing the memory ?
  2. Just to add to this, Windows 7 has a memory leak bug and there is a hotfix available for it which may or may not help. Certain programs use the WFP call out driver in Vista/7/server 2008 and have problems with it resulting in huge memory leaks and an eventual "Out of Resources" error aka run out of ram error. There is a hotfix for it which has cured the problem for me, although I cant say I noticed the memory leak in lockon, probably because I have only just started to use it in windows 7 64bit and the fix already applied to my machine months ago. The fix can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979223/en-us and this is a direct link to the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=979223&kbln=en-us As I said above, the hotfix cured the memory leak I was having with win7 ultimate 64. Kuky, your symptoms do resemble mine when sabnzbd+ was having the same problem, every few seconds the memory would keep rising and rising until either the app was stopped or it eventually ran out of memory and the app crashed or the OS crashed.
  3. "There are a couple of catches though, of course. First off, the video card you bought had to be direct from ATI, not just as ATI GPU sold by one of the company's many board partners (Sapphire, Diamond, Asus, and all those.) Second, the card you purchased had to be a member of one of the following series: Radeon 9550; Radeon 9800; Radeon x700; Radeon x800; Radeon x850; Radeon x1300; Radeon x1600; Radeon x1800; Radeon x1900; All-in-Wonder 9800; All-in-Wonder 2006; All-in-Wonder x600; All-in-Wonder x800; All-in-Wonder x1800; All-in-Wonder x1900; or any FireGL or FireMV series of graphics cards. Third, this offer is only available to people who bought the video card in the United States." That says it all really, how many people are going to or did buy there card from ATI shop ? and how many people are actually affected by this in and outwith the States ? I bet lots of people are, but cant do a thing about it. Its a kind gesture, but its limited strictly to a handful of people, but kudos to the people who signed up and actually got a new card :) Its a good score.
  4. I think what he means is that during Desert Storm, bradleys killed or destroyed alot of tanks with its 25mm cannon, but the majority were already empty as the crews had fled, they were destroyed so that they couldnt be used again after the good guys drove past them. I have also read that the majority of armoured kills were due to IFV's rather than the Abrams, but they were static empty kills, obviously not all of them were empty, but the majority were. In battle, the 25mm bushmaster rounds wouldnt get near a T72, the TOW would, but the 25mm rounds wouldnt unless the T72 commander was stupid or if they came across each other accidently, the T72 would be firing at the bradley from a distance greater than what the bradley could fire back with any sort of damaging effect, unless he used the TOW missile. But yea, the majority of Armoured ground Kills in the Gulf War were performed by IFV's, but only because the enemy armoured vehicles were already empty, as the crews had decided that death from above warranted more than 72 lowly virgins, so they fled in disgust at the thought of getting ripped off.
  5. I know the colour filters is for different weather conditions, e.g too bright or dull etc etc, what they actually mean I dont know, the only thing I do know is that they are for different daylight conditions. I would say, take a look at the manual, but its doubtful the manual will explain what all the settings mean.
  6. Yea, but it was previously announced at I think 19 bux ? but then I found a link that explains why the price went up.
  7. I thought the price was listed as $19.99 if I recall, but checking the website its shot upto 29 bux, anyone know the reason behind that ? EDIT: NVM, I just saw this http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=853409&postcount=1376
  8. I think those lines are left over from lockon, where you can add wingtip smoke generators to some of the planes. Maybe with new planes added to DCS we will see a return of this feature ?
  9. Only with my other self :D
  10. As they say, Knowledge is power, i'd have to agree with Pilotasso on this one.
  11. Yea, i miss read your post, when re-reading for the second time, i noticed you mentioned it was a turboprop, the first time i read it, i never noticed you say that and i thought you was meaning that the embraer was just a normal prop aircraft i.e similar engines to ww2 stock ;)
  12. technically its a gas turbine which has been made to turn a shaft, i.e the propeller. All jet engines are gas turbines.
  13. I thought the EMB-314 / ALX or A29 was a Turbo prop ? Looking at the most reliable source on the web, wikipedia , it says that its a turboprop and by definition a turboprop is a prop aircraft powered by a jet engine, same with the 130, all 4 engines are by definition jet engines. So jetmania is all around. Although I do prefer the huge radial's of ww2 aircraft, the engine on the p47 was some piece of work.
  14. Thanks EB for the link, but it doesnt help in this regard :( I wish it did as random music is sorely missed, me and Esac did a lot of troubleshooting to try and get it working again, on our own might I add and nothing that we did got random music to work again after the patch was applied. I am installing DCS again in a weeks time once i rebuild my pc, so once I have done that I will know if music randomisation works out of the box on a fresh install of the patched version, if it doesnt I will try your above link again to see if it was the syntax on my previous install that was messed up. Thanks.
  15. I just want the randomisation function to work again, it got broken with the patch.
  16. since the patch mine doesnt either, not sure if Esac found a fix for it yet ?
  17. I know this isnt a sim, but if you want to experience what its like to use IR tv's and the miniguns and 40mm bofors and the cannon on the 130, there is a GREAT mission in the Call of Duty 4 game. if you havent played it already, you "may" want to check it out just once, although it is not a sim, its just a level of a FPS game. thats a video of it and I must say, it is one of the best missions I have ever played in a FPS game.
  18. Hahahahahaha, great post Peyoteros
  19. Ah, you stole one of our lassie's ?, being married for 30 years to an Aberdeen lassie I think qualifies you to be classed as an honorary Scot if you aint already one  You can take the lassie out of Aberdeen, but you'll never take Aberdeen out of the lassie ;) Aberdeen born n bred :drunk:and I would go as far as saying it's the best city in Scotland, certainly cleanest and cleanest in britain :)
  20. My brother works on one of the diving boats that serves the oilfields beside aberdeen, although he does alot of work in norway/denmark waters etc and is one of those in charge of the chamber that the divers live in whilst they are onboard the boat. Some of you maybe might even know him if you work offshore ? I know he calls you a bunch of rich squeaky voiced B'tards :D
  21. Am up for that, but it will have to wait til begining of november when I can get new psu, this psu is at max limit and I cant chuck in my new vid card til I upgrade the psu. Also, I need to format and do a proper win 7 install, which I am waiting til november to do. But I am up for benchmarking SSD performance with a new default install of BS. TBH, I havent even tried BS with the ssd's, as this install of win7 is just temp, I havent even activated it yet, I will be formatting at the begining of november and I didnt install BS as I didnt want to waste a deact/act for soemthing that is getting dumped in 2 weeks as BS is installed on my normal vista drive and I didnt see the nedd to deactivate that and install on 7 only to scrub it in a fortnight. But in ATTO benchmarking, I get over 300mb write and 400mbyte read, but depending on the type of filesize the benchmarking takes, the results can vary, but over 300mb second for writes and 400mb second for reads is common on my array, but when I format in november, I am dumping raid and just gunna use a single ssd for the OS and gunna give my buddy in the states the other ssd, but I am up for benchmarking if other people are.
  22. Got two OCZ's 120 gig ssd drives myself in raid 0, holy poop, thats all I can say, the harddrive bottleneck is finally over. In vista the inbuilt performance test maxed out at 5.9, in windows 7 it maxes out at 7.9, well doing the test in windows 7 ultimate 64bit rtm, I get 7.9 for the harddrives, thats the biggest scoring items in my pc, even my video card doesnt get 7.9 nor does my cpu. But its great booting in 10 seconds, post is the longest thing durign bootup and when clicking on anything or on any app, they open instantly, these ssd's are crazy fast, best thing about it is that I got em for free :D
  23. Seems simple to me, if your buying TIR for the first time, then why choose the older one ? choose tir 5.
  24. I put some vaseline on the underside of the black disc that makes contact with the base unit, helps the stick move without any sticking near the centre, as I used to find that when the stick was centred, sometimes when I went to move the stick, it would be like stuck or harder to move for a split second, then it wud jump a few mm and that translates into a judder ingame, but with some L00b, its all gone now :p I dont use 52 pro, I just use the x52.
