DCS: Supercarrier Update for 19 March 2020
Flamin_Squirrel replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Your previous posts can be summarised as follows: The module must be ready otherwise they wouldn't be giving out preview* copies, and they're not giving it out to everyone else for unspecified reasons. Sounds like a conspiracy to me. Releasing an potentially unfinished/buggy preview to reviewers isn't ironic, it's common practice. *which in and of itself tells us it isn't complete. ED have made many PR blunders with the SC, but I don't see how this is one of them. -
DCS: Supercarrier Update for 19 March 2020

It may well be missing features/contain bugs ED doesn't want released to the wider public. Your view on whether that constitutes the actual module may differ from Gierasimov's. Either way the idea that ED aren't releasing it as some sort of conspiracy to insult to their customers is quite frankly ridiculous. -
No you want it set to BRC, because you want your upwind and downwind to be parallel to the ship's course. The final bearing kinda sorts itself out if you get your self into position right. I think that's a good idea. ~70 degrees. You initial break looked OK I thought. No need to straighten out late break as you did (this isn't a civvy circuit you're doing!), just relax your turn to ~30 degrees once your speed is below 250kts. You can improve your altitude control with smaller throttle changes more often. You're correcting too much too late. Your final turn was too steep as well. Keep practicing :joystick:

Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
Flamin_Squirrel replied to Bankler's topic in Missions and Campaigns
You shouldn't bolter if you caught a wire. You CAN bolter if you land on the correct part of the deck though, if that's what you mean? The hook can not catch, either by skipping, or because you didn't land at the correct AoA. Think those are both modelled anyway. -
The idea of complaining isn't to try and get the SC earlier, it's to let ED know people aren't happy with how they're handling things. Simply not buying future EA products as you suggest, without providing feedback, would be entirely counter productive: they'd just assume people weren't interested in their products anymore, when actually the opposite is true.
-
Yeah. Not exactly obvious is it!
-
Youtube links work by wrapping the last bit of it within the Youtube tag: "9bTeLzCidZg" in this case: 9bTeLzCidZg
-
Enter the break at 350kts, airbrake out. Pull to achieve G that's 1% of your airspeed (i.e. at 300kts, you should be pulling 1G.) until you slow to 250kts. Lower gear and flaps, and ease your bank to 30-45 degrees until you're on downwind. Too fast? You should be onspeed (around 135kts). Can you post a track?

No, whining is actually a symptom of poor PR. Over a month later there's still no stickied post in this sub-forum for people to refer to that says what's going on.
-
Probably because it's not really the money people are really concerned with, nor the date being missed in and of itself. It's that people genuinely care about this product, and the repeated PR gaffes are worrying them. I think for some at least, requests for a refund are just expressions of frustration.
-
No it isn't. ED have never been good at comms; this is just a continuation of their usual practices. Anyway, even if there was some truth to that, there shouldn't be. If you're going to take people's money up front, be damn sure you can deliver; if you don't, either take the inevitable flak on the chin, or do something to mitigate the damage (which ED don't really seem to have done).

Bankler's CASE 1 Recovery Trainer
Flamin_Squirrel replied to Bankler's topic in Missions and Campaigns
You don't specifically say what you're finding tricky, but at a guess you're not holding your bank angle accurately. Aim for ~28 degrees and keep it there. This will help in 2 ways: it'll make your turn radius more consistent it'll make controlling you altitude easier (because any change in bank effects your descent rate) -
Yes they certainly will notice.
-
I don't think people are running out of arguments towards your ID example; more likely they're running out of energy trying to explain why they don't think it's a fair comparison when you're not really listening to what they're saying e.g. NineLine.
-
I didn't say it was justified, I suggested a reason why ED might be slower at finishing their modules than their third parties, nothing more. Your opinion on whether that's a valid excuse is no more valid than mine. The Hornet works, albeit not feature complete, so that would be equivalent to selling you a car without the radio; without the engine isn't a valid analogy.
-
You're not making sense. The fact that the A10C is still getting attention 10 years later is evidence they don't abandon their products. The new cockpit being a good example.
-
Before you dismiss that as a possibility, perhaps pick a better example, preferably in the same sector.
-
:huh::huh: I never said it wasn't completed? Sorry don't understand what you're saying.
-
There's a reason there's no competition - no-one gets into this genre to make (a lot of) money. And they may release unfinished products, but it's not like they abandon them. 10 years later the A10C is still getting attention.
-
For additional features to existing products, yes I agree. This is the first time in 10 years I remember them missing a release date for a new product though.
-
There are some possible reasons for the apparent slowness. For example, I understand Deka used the tech ED developed for Hornet and Viper to make their module work. ED have to develop the tech and their modules simultaneously, which is harder work. That said at face value I can see where you're coming from, which is why I don't get why ED don't put a bit of effort into their PR.
-
Please take more time to read what people are saying. Our discussion started when you took 'better communication' to mean more information. At no point did I insist on more information. My gripe isn't that information isn't it there, it's that it's difficult to find. Part of that is opinion yes, but backed up by examples of information scattered all over the place.
-
So you've gone from "the information's out there" to "what information do you expect to be given?". Take a look at this sub-forum and you'll find a post from Wags saying the SC has been delayed to 15th of April, and that's it. So forget the end of May, if you came here looking for answers you wouldn't even know that April date's been missed too. You've got no issue with how ED are handling things, that's fine, but many people do. Stop trying to tell people their opinion is wrong.
-
Hi draconus, thanks. Yeah I knew the end of May was the revised deadline; I was just pointing out that information isn't always easy to find, especially for newcomers to the forum.
-
What are you on about? First, there's no mention of the SC and certainly nothing regarding release dates; second it's not even in this sub forum.
