Is there an easy way to cap FPS in this game?
EtherealN replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Dudester22, In windows, filenames have two sections: THe "name" of the file. For example: MyDocument The "type" of the file. This comes after a period sign. A text file would be like this: MyDocument.txt A jpeg image would be like: MyImage.jpg Simple so far: the text after the period tells your computer what type of file it is. However, as standard, Windows actually hides the things after the period. So when you created autoexec.cfg, you ACTUALLY created autoexec.cfg.txt This does not work because it's a txt - a text file, not a config file. This is because windows, as standard, hides the part after the period from you. In your screen, you can see that it says the file is a text document - this is because the file is actually having .txt in the end. You can change this through making windows show the file "ending". In the file explorer, select "view". You may have to press Alt first. (Sorry, I don't have an english version of windows available right now.) Might be called "view options". Switch tab in the optins screen youll find and you'll get a list with a lot of tickboxes, one of them is "hide file name extensions for known file types". Untick it. Then go back to your file, and rename it such that it no longer has a txt. -
Sure, but analyzing numbers like that are hard considering that SEAD does not depend on actually destroying anything. Remember: the S stands for Suppression, not Destruction. :) (The weapon can be used to actually destroy them as well, of course, but skilled operators will have their ways to make this difficult. Stationary sites however might find themselves in trouble, especially aginst newer versions of the HARM.)

Unfortunately I believe the sales figures are secret. :( But one point to consider: even IF the majority of sales are through the website rather than "brick and mortar", keeping said Brick and mortar parameters in mind can still make sense - because if you don't, you can't access new markets. Think of it like this: you open a Hamburger chain back in the 50's over in the US. In the 70's, the majority of your revenue comes from the US. Does that mean it is a bad idea to market in Europe? Of course not - Europe is an additional market you probably want to get into. Now of course, ED isn't McDonalds, but you get the point? Closer to the actual work of ED here is the fact that most people that play computer games don't even know simulators like this exist. I still run into people that thought they ceased to be made after Microprose went under. But if you're a small company, you can't spend swathes of cash on fancy youtube adverts - but you can do your best to make sure the box is right there in front of people that are window-shopping. And that's a LOT of people that are window-shopping, so you don't even need to have a large percentage of them actually buy the box they saw for it to be worth it.

Jype, The A-10C module is cheaper because it is over two years old. As you are probably aware, computer games are typically reduced in price when they have been for sale for a while. And also, no, you can not apply the principle of "addons" here. The DCS World platform is free, that's a pretty good "demo" in my opinion. If a specific aircraft is later too expensive for what you consider it worth, just wait until it's older. Like the A-10. ;)

Black Shark 2 ENG - ACTIVATION ERROR ?!?!?! WTF ?!

Dalemorton, I realize that you are upset, but please do not post about the same issue on the entire forum. I responded to your PM within an hour of it being posted. In case you are not aware, it is currently Victory Day celebrations in Russia. -

There is something important though here, see these statements: - "LOFI" development does impact hifi development. - "LOFI" development does not impact hifi development. - "LOFI" development does not necessarily impact hifi development. In this specific case: Step 1: We have the new F-15C pit. Keeps simple systems and SFM. Step 2: Develop AFM. Release an F-15C that keeps simple systems but has SFM. Step 3: Develop the rest. The logic one needs to use if proposing that the mentioned products will "delay" hifi modules thereof would also require that development of the F-15C pit for FC3 also "delayed" hifi module thereof - but how can that be so when that pit is prepped and ready for said hifi module? If the proposal was to make and release a "mid-level" (non-clickable but AFM) AT-802U, then yes - THEN it would be reasonable to assume this might delay hifi F-15C's. But some serious contortions of logic are required to see an F-15C AFM being developed and then say "but this will delay an A-10C level simulation of the F-15C". That is one heck of a logical somersault. :P

Advanced Flight Model - (AFM). What actually is it?

You dont "need" ailerons to land. They are preferred though. You can still keep roll authority, especially on swept wing, through using rudder. (On straight wing you can too, but your rudders roll authority is smaller.) -
Sure, but: Pricing at 70-90 would most likely make retail impossible. Good busines that is not. Also, what makes you think a december beta is possible? Nevermind the price, that is irrelevant there. Finally: your post assumed that these reaaes would delay hi-fi releases thereof. I dont understand how you got that idea, especially considering that Matt actually adressed that. In a way, I think you could benefit from studying the MA JA-37 section, because - respectfully - you seem to have unfounded ideas of how this works.
-
Sorry, im observing this from an airport so long posts are not possible. THe notion that these delay "full-fidelity" sims require that one forget to read what the update states about the plans.
-
I know, but reading the original carries the same point i am looking for. ;)
-
This might be an opportunity for you to show how this affects your fastmover. ;) I am seeing a lot of statements that can only be derived from not actually reading the update.

What is your hardware, drivers, and are you forcing any Anisotropic Filtering options somewhere?

BBQ, note the timestamp on PoleCat's post. It is 6 months old.

Black Shark 1 and Flaming Cliffs 2 - no. Everything that came later than this - including Black Shark 2, yes, the last activation, when spent, is automatically restored after 30 days.
-
Whoah, yeah, that should do it. :) Only real concern with the 670MX might be memory bandwidth, which is a bit low. This might affect some effects, but you'd basically have to go up to the 680M or MX to get something that is better, and that might be a considerable price jump. Compared to desktop cards the 670MX is roughly equivalent to the 560Ti (except for that memory interface), which might not allow you to completely max out everything - but close to it. (560Ti is what I use, and I typically run with everything high ecxept water, no mirrors, and sometimes I turn of TSSAA.)

No, it is not related to this. This is most likely a server issue (the specific game server), a connection issue, or a configuration issue. Please ensure that you select "LAN" as connection speed in the multiplayer screen - NOTE: connection speed, not server list method. This solves most such problems when they are caused by excessive traffick due to the new ground unit system required by Combined Arms in missions that has a lot of them. (However, the person that operates the server should also have this option selected.) All relevant double-purchases that went via Paypal should already have their refund underway. There might however be some variance on when they reach your account. (I once tried to understand why the international banking system does what it does, but I gave up.)
-
If you prefer, you can simply make a backup of your SavedGames folder.

Like I said: after 30 days the last activation is automatically restored.

please allow to install BS2 upgrade without installing BS1
EtherealN replied to pocococo's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The problem is that simply asking for the key would leave it open for abuse - and that's even beside the point of whether the system is even technically capable of doing this in the first place. I don't know everything about the system, so I can be wrong here, but everything I've seen indicates that it's not possible to do this. For sure, it probably is "easy" for SFT to implement something like that - but would they do it for a specialized function that only a single, relatively low-volume, customer wants? Maybe, but I strongly doubt it. The economy of scale just isn't there. See previous response above. There is a further caveat here that you haven't considered: these checks happen on install. Serial numbers happen at runtime. So changes would have to be made there as well before the rest can even be considered. Though I do agree that it could be useful to have serial checks and activation conducted immediately on install, though this has thee drawback of blocking some functions that some people find very useful today: for example, when mission editing, you can run the mission editor on one machine without having to activate there, and speed up prototyping of the mission through doing continual test-runs via the MP interface on the main rig. But fortunately this should now be a non-issue thanks to DCS World. Well, the problem is that, afaik, the system just can't do it. "Activation" actually requires things to be installed - things from that product. (You saw this previously in this thread.) Basically, yes, I really would like to have that. But unfortunately I suspect it would require work from SFT that they might not care to do. Well, just like with BS2 Upgrade, there is an issue in these checks being conducted by the installer, not the activation system itself. Now, IF the system supported this - I'd like it, it would be worth looking at, but you need to realize that things are more complex than that - and specifically that in both cases, this isn't something ED can do. It is something SFT would have to do. And considering how specialized it is, I suspect SFT would send the bill to ED... Well, everything is relative of course. While I agree it's a ripoff, it's the standard price (and much of it is taxes ofc). But comparing prices to Romania doesn't quite work anyhow - we pay more for almost everything than you do, but we also have higher salaries. (Though a quick look at PPP numbers for Romania and Sweden does seem to make the case that this doesn't average out completely anyway; even though prices are higher here, we are still better off due to our much higher salaries - as long as we stay away from all those things that are heavily taxed because they are bad for us. :) ) -
How many simulators has that site funded?
-
We are looking into implementing support for Bittorrent in the future, to help solve this, and the recent problems also helped identify some bottlenecks in our current infrastructure. This will be fixed.

Should i install DCSW on a user account or admin?
EtherealN replied to dooom's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Further note: when you say you have "partitioned off": which sector space does this Z drive live in? HDD's are slower on the "inside", so partitioning can actually make your game slower to load. Also note that if you have it on the same physical drive as your OS, you also gain nothing through partitioning - the seeker head will still have to "dance", and indeed will have to "dance" even more, impacting your I/O throughput badly.
