Let's put it like this, for an idea: Play an MP mission, you've got A-10's on your side. One of your mates get nailed and ejects. Now you can detail a player flight to conduct CSAR.
-
This isn't marketed as "DCS: Gunship". This is "DCS: UH-1H". Which is the version most commonly used today. Even my own airforce has used it! (And we were always allergic to helicopters.) DCS is a combat environment, but as you are probably very well aware, a combat environment includes aircraft that do not engage in combat themselves. CSAR, transports, AWACS, AAR, VIP etcetera.

We are aware of the issue. Belaboring it will unfortunately not make it happen faster. What you are seeing is the switch of timezones leading to unprecedented hammering of the servers.
-
The "new release" wasn't meant to "fly in the 60's or RVN". It's a study simulation of the UH-1H. Where you fly it is up to you.

Bonedust, please take a moment to calm down. You cannot install into a folder that is already populated with DCS World. If you downloaded "clean", install into a clean folder.

Get this message when trying to install new patch
EtherealN replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It is detecting that you are installing into the same folder as a location where you already have the programme. It is then informing you that you can instead elect to perform a "repair" or "update" and that an install is thus not necessary. -
Get this message when trying to install new patch

To install into the same folder, uninstall what you previously had. As it said, installing into the same folder can break your install. In your start menu, you have Repair and Update options for DCS World. The "ok" you selected was "okey, I read what you told me". -

1.2.4... Auto Updt or install from scratch?
EtherealN replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It checks once per day. You can force it through selecting "update" in the DCS World start menu folder. -
Okey. Say 10 people download on 1mbit available. They get 100kbit each. Now say the same 10 people download on 1mbit availablee, but they have "not-so-awesome" uploads so only send 50kbit to peers. They get 100kbit each from the server. Then they get 50kbit from each other. Total download is 150kbit per user. What is the loss? My specific point here: point me to ANY deleterious effect compared to NOT having a P2P network involved. Anything.
-
This depends on how fast you are with starting the download. The first people to start won't see as much benefit, but as more people come in the benefit is cumulative, since they can start off with downloading from peers rather than the main download servers you would be using - which in turn means you won't be as heavily hit when others come in. It's not a magical fix, but remember that all traffic that goes through the peer network is traffic that is not clogging the main servers.

3. The plan in the future is to integrate torrenting in the updater to solve rushes like this. Hopefully that will be possible.
-
There is no longer separate downloads for Upgrade and "standard" version. Instead, the installer will ask you which version you will be using. You must make sure here to select the "Upgrade license". If you select the wrong one, your key will not work. With key refills, it is the last activation that is returned 30 days after use.

Adding serial number to website account
EtherealN replied to 159th_Falcon's topic in Payment and Activation
Unfortunately, no. -
Sounds files are not small. Many languages -> many sound files -> Many large files.

Actually, several thousand. :P

This is something you would have to ask your bank about, it is them that are taking these fees. I've never even heard about a special fee for transactions that are international.
-
Autoupdater looks at your install on a per-file basis and updates everything that is old, including modules. "Manual" patching would require building installers for everything and then testing them in various configurations, leading to further delays. Basically, you'd still get it faster by letting the updater work until the load on the servers decreases.
-
Please open a support ticket including the transaction number. We can issue a refund. Unfortunately there is a LOT of tickets on this issue right now (hundreds), so please send me a PM with your ticket number after you have entered it. I think it might be a day or two though, we must first get final confirmation that everything was okey with the Paypal transactions. I'll make sure this gets out to you all as soon as we have this final confirmation. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

f3n3k: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1737184&postcount=74 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1737377&postcount=82 The last one there is particularly important. Most likely, if you had money deducted, you can ignore this completely. We are waiting for final checks on this, but in your case it would mean that everything is fine, you have nothing to worry about and no further action is required. The time period has nothing to do with the release of 1.2.4; it was released as soon as it was complete, after having been delayed by some bugs that needed to be fixed first.

Most people use autoupdater. This is a different server. Most likely this server is currently under a very heavy load; especially with all the europeans coming home from work and starting their autoupdate almost simultaneously.
-
You select language during install.

Nothing is 100% impossible, but considering that it would require spoofing not only ED systems and payment processor systems, but banking systems too... Not likely. The paypal seems to be working correctly, I'll get back on that once this is known to be definitively true. The issue with card payments not being processed is however unchanged, but those cases should be ones where no money was deducted at all in the first place.
