  1. No, not Vulkan. Actually almost everyone was complaining about the performance (especially in VR), ED recently announced they found the problem in the terrain engine, when fixed will increase FPS by 50%. Also, FPS is highly dependent on hardware combination, software optimisation, and OS tuning. Higher resolution is more demanding on your hardware as you probably know. Also, the more apps and services you run in the background can also negatively impact performance. So, more RAM is always useful, in particular when you want to render at high distance views for example, or higher textures etc. Just a consideration. :) Besides that, I don't know what to tell you. DCS is very demanding. All you can do is: - Optimize your system on the software/apps/OS part (services, background apps, page file, power settings, OS/App update settings, etc etc). - Buy newer, faster hardware - Lower settings like shadows, visible range, cockpit shadows, terrain shadows, MSAA
  2. Save the money on the CPU and invest that in a faster/newer GPU. That would be my best bet anyways.
  3. I think GT should be ST for surface target. :)
  4. "Let's discuss." You must be new here. ;) It's been discussed many times already. Later this year there'll be an update on the terrain engine which will increase FPS for VR users by 40-50%. Maybe it'll have an impact on 2d as well, just wait and see. For multiplayer 32GB memory is recommmended. DCS will only use a single core from your CPU if I'm not mistaken.
  5. You've got everybody doubting their initial choices for a new VR set. :) Thanks for updating Wags.
  6. Patience is a virtue.
  7. I would order this if it had the trimhat as 4-way and not 8-way, with an additional 4-way hat added. Unfortunately. :)
  8. Ah I see. No tray tool for me. Also no mods of any kind. But still, eagerly awaiting the announced optimisation in the terrain engine, which is said to increase fps by a lot. ;)
  9. I have a PD of 1.5, all settings High except shadows, MSAAx2 and get smooth frames. All on a i7 8700 non-K, GTX1080 non Ti, 32GB 2666, and SSD. Nothing OC'ed. No MP, only SP. Missions, Campaigns, different terrains, all smooth. Rift VR. Hardware is 1, managing those resources is 2, software config is 3. I see a lot of people only focussing on 1.
  10. Thanks Wags. Great news!

  12. I think it won't be a free module, and in my opinion indeed it shouldn't be. There are 2 basic Nimitz class carriers available already. For free I might add.
  13. Thanks. :)
  14. Now I did. ;) Thank you sir, much appreciated!
  15. New keywords still missing here unfortunately.
  16. Agree. I sincerely hope they will update the Huey after they're done updating the KA-50 and A-10C.
  17. Use the glidescope indicator. Check here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=236412
  18. Well, ladies like tigers. Or so I've heard. ;)
  19. Disagree. I fly only in SP, and more just random flying and training various things than actual missions. So I very much welcome this feature. Don't want it? Don't use it, easy. :)
  20. Cold start always. Also, I fly exclusively in VR so it's awkward to start mid-air. And yes, getting in the mood during cold start. :) Besides, it's a sim right. Planes spawning in mid-air have yet to be invented. ;)
  21. Glideslope indicator.
  22. Only thing I miss on the HUD on the Tomcat is a velocity vector/flight path marker. In T/O and Landing HUD mode there's too much information since I'm already used to glance at the gauges in that thing.
  23. It's normal a company like Oculus doesn't advertise their product required specs for computers with the most demanding consumer simulation software available today. ;)
  24. Agreed. Although not realistic, it will be a helpful addition to us non-detent-throttle users. :) Like StandingCow says, the TDC slew is not realistic as well, and was done specifically for Warthog users at first (I disabled realistic TDC slew as well, so it benefits more than just Warthog-users). So why not this for non-Warthog (detent) users? So I would still like to opt for it. :) Thanks again.
  25. Well, you and others keep saying reading is the only way, but with respect, not everyone is the same. Reading and doing are two very different things for me. I'll read your writings for reference, but will keep on searching/watching vids. My question was just curiosity, so never mind then. :) Thanks again for your efforts and time.
