  1. Yep, I hear you brother, while the demographic for gamers may well be getting older, I’m guessing there’s far more guys and girls that have operated out of a H-60 than have out of a Huey. Badass indeed!
  2. I'm throwing my hat in the ring for this too, I hope it comes up. The Huey is fun but man.......
  3. Self solved, going to Steam and selecting "run as administrator" in shortcut-advanced settings seems to have fixed the problem. Okay, okay, I know many of you would have already known that but I didn't!
  4. I've got a new version of this problem now, Ihave been using the controllers to point and shoot at the DCS icon within VR sine the above problem arose, which incidentally is a PIA that I didn't previously have to worry about. Now however, after I select the DCS from within VR it starts loading and a differnt steam overlay comes up that, I cannot get rid of, would anyone know what it is that I am missing. This new problem started since completing the latest Windows update just the other day. Aprreciate any insight.
  5. It changed every time you release just like IRL. In fact the modelling is very good. If you lob a bomb from your left wind in the Hornet at lease, then you’ll need to trim back toward the opposite wing. The flight model versus changing weight in fact done pretty well.
  6. In short, yes part of the Wow wears off like your first flight in the real thing, but after years of doing it, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Go the Reverb!
  7. Can anyone explain to me why the HSI drifts sometimes by up to 20 degrees in as many seconds? When I used to fly Piper Warriors at the start of my career more than twenty years ago I had a DG only which we would reset every ten minutes or so adjusting it by no more than maybe five degrees. This thing has a flux gate slave mode and swings wildly all over the place. I have also noticed on tracking from Laughlin to mesquite on the NTTR map (i.e. more or less North) that the standby compass sometimes gets locked on to 360 and then intanteneously flicks back to what I am guessing might be the correct heading. So you can be in a position where you have no reference point for heading from either the stanby compass or HSI
  8. An update on my failed cable (the headset side of the cable) An entirley new Reverb was posted out and arrived within 24 hours, I've never seen anthing like it! The non headset side of the new cable was posted back to them as my current one works fine but get this.....they didn't want the headset itself to be returned so I now have a fully functioning Reverb and a spare that only seems to be having a problem with the cable portion itself. Could be handy if any issues pop up post warranty. Pretty good service from where I stand.
  9. I guess anyway to get pass through would be grear, but I take it that's not available yet, thanks mate.
  10. Does anyone know if we're any closer to having passthough activated?
  11. Sounds like it will be great when it first comes out and even better once EA is finished. Look forward to it, thanks ED!
  12. I've been really struggling with the "Ode to Mongo" mission too, finding the same problems as everyone else. I guess given what has already been said, I'm interested in how is everyone else intereacting with your flight in this mission because in the rare event that Itake out the first two 21's, I'm Nigel no friends after this and therfore I'm essentially a sitting duck for whatever comes my way over the target area.
  13. So I have learnt a little more about the problem since switching on my VR controllers.....which I don't normally use. If I select DCS from within SteamVR then the overlay will dissappear, I have never made a habit of using the controllers to power up DCS and I don't want to start now. Is there a way I can start DCS from within the SteamVR overlay without using controllers?
  14. I hadn't had it go to sleep to trigger the Steam VR library overlay to come up, having said that, clicking on the WMR portal seems to be a reasonable temporary workaround, thanks for that. Does anyone know how to inhibit this overlay coming up in the first instance?
  15. I have been using the Reverb with DCS for some time now and love it but just today I seem to now be getting the Steam Library Overlay appearing in the Steam VR screen (that I can see in the HMD after switchin on VR) I don't know how to get rid of it, any ideas? It displays the time up the top and the three recently played apps (in my case the only three apps ever played on this PC) below that I can see the concertrc circles moving out toward the mountains and the stars above although that's all been darkened with the overlay appearing. I'd appreciate any help, cheers.
  16. With reference to how far out you can spot bandits, that is of course partly a function of your HMD, I have a Reverb and only use DCS and I can sometimes see them at 10 miles. I fly tubeliners IRL and struggle to see other tubeliners at ten miles most days, of course at night time you can see there lights. Go the Reverb.
  17. I don's suppose anyone has a mission file for tanking off on a moonless night already saved that you're willing to share? Preferbably with the Stennis incorparated would be appreciated. Cheers.
  18. Maybe it’s the way they’ve done the lighting but the small lights above the AH I think, under the glare shield look like an entirely different type of light that don’t seem to work. Maybe that’s what I’m switching on when I turn on the green lights but it doesn’t look like it’s coming from them. Could be wrong.
  19. I'm just coming to terms with tht Huey now and although it's so much fun to fly, I'm amazed that with all its sophistocation it does'nt have basic glareshield lighting.....Wow! That's really disspointing.
  20. “Steely eyed aviators don’t whine” ok now I’m starting doubt your bona fides! You’ve clearly never flown with my mob. The collective noun for a group of airline pilots is a “whinge” :D
  21. I haven’t seen any compelling evidence that they work effectively in DCS let alone a review. Maybe they do, maybe they don’t, either way, until there is some evidence of functional performance it’s too much money to spend. This hobby can be expensive enough as is without more white elephants.
  22. Yep, I believe ED is pretty good sorting this sort of thing out, all in good time. Great idea to do searchlights though.
  23. You say you open up applications on a Saturday night. Which time zone is that in. I’m in Australia and I’m hoping we can find some instructors that will be close enough to that Timezone. Also, should you lose recency, what do you require to revalidate?
  24. Love the idea of searchlights but from the pictures it looks more like a white laser in clear skies which seems somewhat unrealistic. They would look like that in a smoke haze but not in unlimited visibility.
