Thrustmaster warthog flap bindings?
Willie Nelson replied to Willie Nelson's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Thanks very much, that did it. Cheers -
Would anyone know of a formalised night circuit pattern for the Hornet. I'm looking for target airspeets and power settings in addition to gates, bank angles for crosswind turn, etc. Whether or not they use timed based turn commencement. I understand that the military cannot conduct 600 feet night circuits and yet night circuit training would be a requirement at some stage of USAF, USN or Marines training. I'm guessing there is some info somewhere but it's not in NATOPS as far as I can see. Cheers.

Any suggestions for the flap bindings on the TM Warthog, I'm in VR so continuing to look down and potentially overspeed the flaps (if I click on the wrong side of the mouse) is wholly unsatisfactory. I'm interested in what others are doing, cheers.

I have a theory which could be utter rubbish but I'm wondering if this new map is being built with a view to allowing better frame rates when the Supercarrier gets released. I'm also speculating that they may be trying some new elements of the new engine. Fully expecting to be debunked, just putting it out there anyway.

Ok, I see. It would be good if DCS could consider an instructor panel not only to implement various faults like they have IRL but also a screen to monitor the trainee switch selections and instrumentation. A quarter of our time in a full flight sim these days is spent just doing what we call manoeuvre based sequences where the instructor will give you V1 cuts, rejected takeoffs, various instrument approaches and go arounds etc, but the whole premise is that they can see what you’re seeing so that they can monitor your tolerances to determine either your competency or your training requirements. You could even actually have a pointer linked to the VR focal pointer to see where they’re looking.
-
This may have been asked earlier but how is the instructor going about getting visibility over what the trainee is doing? Is there anything you’re using for that or just talking to each other as it unfolds? I’m also interested in whether VR is being widely used and how most people might be integrating checklists or cheat sheets?
-
Great, thanks for that.
-
Thanks very much. Another supplemental question if I may: Is there plans to integrate something like either Captoglove or Leap Motion into the next iteration of DCS?
-
Thanks people. That’s good info. Looking forward to more information when it becomes available. Cheers.

I guess I’m also wondering if the new engine will use the same maps. I haven’t used any other version of DCS in the past so I’m not sure what I might expect to change. I know that there have been discussions about VR working better on the new API. Just wondering how it might look different. Thanks.

Which VR for my rig Rift S or Reverb?
Willie Nelson replied to jwilliams417's topic in Virtual Reality
You’ll love it! Clarity is awesome. -
I know that it’s early days but given that there is so much currently being released in DCS 2.5 what is the likelihood that current aircraft, maps and modules will be useable in the next version of DCS, whatever that may look like? Not expecting a lot of detail just a vague indication, I’ve spent a lot of money on equipment and software to get to a happy place with 2.5 but I’m also pretty excited to see what the next iteration will eventually look like and whether or not we’ll have to start all over.
-
How do you go about matching up schedules for instructor/students? I’m a shift worker in Australia and yet would be keen to get some assistance as there’s so many things to learn about the aircraft/software if nothing else. I like the idea of “testing out” of certain phases, with around 15,000 hours IRL I’d like to think I could do some of that ;-)

That sounds like a better system given that you would most likely be in a formation with limited weapons. “the two on the left” doesn’t sound as precise as I would have hoped for in such a dynamic environment. Thanks for the help.
-
Ok, that begs the question though: does my wingman who may also be on the attack necessarily get the same rank on his trackfiles as I do?
-
Perhaps slightly of the precise topic but can someone tell me what is the point of having the DT2 as such. I had a quick look at the new TWS implementation yesterday on the standard AMRAAN training mission and I’m not sure of the benefit of this when you could just as easily sequence through the prioritised targets one by one firing at will. I’m guessing there’s a lot of strategy in the use of TWS that is not readily apparent to us weekend warriors, I’m sure all this will become more apparent in time. I would hope that when the full functionality of the radar and SA are rolled out there is a larger and more precise series of instructions/tutorials that are available.

Could my CTD be the same problem? I've started having what may well be the same problem as listed above, could someone please have a look and let me know. It's only occurring in MP while using VR. I get a CTD but then I can immediately restart and rejoin server before it all happens again. It's happenned in two different servers, one which was very busy and the other only had three players at the time (enclosed file) InvadeAndAnnex-20191127-215852.trk

Adding to what Harlikwin said, I believe the Vavle index is supposedly slightly wider field of vision. It also probably has less problems associated with tracking. The Pimax 5k is definitely wider FOV at around 150 degrees useable (diagonal I believe) Having said that, none of those displays hold a candle to the clarity of the Reverb. When you look at it’s price point it’s very good value.

My son bought the Hornet. I have few questions.
Willie Nelson replied to aw33com's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Although I’ve only had the Warthog and a cheap Saitek that was no good, I’d generally agree with the above comments with the following caveat. If Yu want to do aerial refuelling, which is one of the most challenging and entertaining things you can do in DCS you will also need a joystick extension (I’ve got a 10 cm extension, a bit less would work too) if you don’t do this then you’ll be fighting the neutral point on every manoeuvre that you make which from my limited experience at least makes refuelling very hard. Some videos online show a way to sand that neutral point down so that may be an alternative but I didn’t want to void the warranty. He’s going to love the Hornet, especially in VR. -
Also happy to be kept in the loop, thanks for the update and looking forward to in house VOIP, should be great. Cheers.

leapMotion implementation possibility
Willie Nelson replied to Kariyann71's topic in Virtual Reality
I don’t pretend to be an expert on the subject but I’m glad that there’s a few people out there working on this implementation all the same. -
Good to hear mate. Talk soon.
-
Hey Woody, welcome to the super thread! Have you read it all yet ;-) cheers mate. Willie.

It’s probably already been mentioned but will this all be available in VR? I ask because I am aware that the combined arms does doesn’t work in VR.

Agree with the above Spudknocker’s tutorial for Case I recoveries is probably the best and most concise info on that and although Wags’ tutorials cover everything Redkite’s are second to none. Bankler’s mission for case I is outstanding for practice but don’t bother until you’ve had a few goes without being assessed. It’s very precise.
