  1. Thank you so much people, that’s an excellent summation. Back to the plane!
  2. I've tried my best to go through these posts to determine whether Project Lasso is a worthy venture for DCS in VR.......disturbingly, I fly for a living and for fun.........I am none the wiser TBH. I can see it's a can of worms to those in the know let alone the rest of us. It seems that there is a lot of experts with differing views on this, would anyone care to provide some generic layperson's advice? Appreciate any help, cheers.
  3. Same here, Steam and SteamVR is required but NOT their DCS version of Steam. You’re good to go with stand-alone, the other add ons are free. Have fun, you won’t regret it.
  4. When the AI FW190 has his starboard aileron shot off (literally) he seems to be able to manouvre that bad boy around like there's no tomorrow, in fact within 60 seconds he was back on my tail and shot me down. I don't mind a challenge and while I accept that many planes can still maintain some stability of flight, that's probably taking the piss I might suggest!;)
  5. Yep, I was at Khasab in the Hornet the other day and was dropping to less than 35 FPS, it would appear that resubscribing to SteamVR beta (I’ve always been in WMR beta also) was what made the difference. No problems maintaing a stable 45 today. Thank for your help.
  6. Thanks for the heads up, it was suggested by people smarter than me to not subscribe to SteamVR betas as there have been some problems in the past but I’ll at least have a look at this. It’s easy enough to unsubscribe from betas.
  7. Did you mean to say clip mounted desk lamp? I’m thinking of doing something similar. My head tracking is rubbish in the Reverb.
  8. Hi Guys, I've recently come across from the Oculus CV1 to the Reverb and although it's generally been awesome, it was suggested that I not be in the beta for SteamVR so I de-selected it but I've also noticed in the SteamVR VR room that it still states "SteamVR beta:" on the screen. Can anyone tell me why this is so even though I thought I had switched it off. Additionally, does anyone know why the removal of the // to switch on Reprojection only occasionally displays Reprojection on in the Steam settings tab (sometimes on, sometimes off) Appreciate any help. Also, happy to pass on my experiences of the Reverb if anyone is interested.
  9. Hi all, For those of you like me that don’t generally do a lot of coding in your leisure time but just like flying planes then have a look at this link that Shogun sent me, thanks mate: https://vr4dcs.com/2019/08/03/rig-tuning-tools-list/ The guys handle is Thud and so far he has helped me no end! It’s very well explained starting virtually from the turning on of your PC. Including things specific to the Reverb and all settings at all software levels. Might save a you lot of time.
  10. Thanks Shogun, indeed that’s an awesome link. I’m getting started on tonight. Thanks.
  11. Excellent concise explanation. I can see it will therefore have more relevance when TWS is implemented. Thank you kindly.
  12. It’s probably been explained elsewhere but a lot of this information is scattered far and wide. Could somebody clarify what purpose the Launch and Steer or soft lock function serves if we cannot fire a missile from it, apart from just having greater situational awareness which presumably we would have from simply looking at the aptly named ‘Situational Awareness’ page. I believe I understand how it works, just not sure why I would find it of any particular benefit as yet. Thanks in advance.
  13. The difference for us Aussies is that the Pro is not available in Australia! Nevermind, it was only around a week ago that anybody in Australia working for HP had even heard of it.
  14. Thank you so much, the manual is not very detailed, I appreciate your help.
  15. It’s still relevant jason, you need to subscribe to the StearVR beta and then delete to two backslashes and you’ll see the difference straight away. Good times!
  16. So I’ve had my new Reverb up and running now for two days albeit in between my wife, kids and work that have to come first. If you’ve been having fun in DCS VR up to this point with something like the Rift then get your hands on one of these bad boys now! It’s a big step up from my CV1 that justifies the money, there are hurdles to overcome, most of which are well covered in this thread in fact but the resolution it’s extremely good, not perfect but given the processing requirements are close enough for now. I’ve had some tracking problems which I’m guessing are to do with the colours and lighting around my computer and I’ve had a couple of brief appearances of the Steam screen for perhaps 1-2 seconds (perhaps once per twenty minutes so far) which I will endeavour to work on but I am getting great visual clarity in the centre section of the side of this area there is some small distortion but it’s still much better than my Rift was in those areas. I think it’s only noticeable because SDE is now an irrelevant term. After switching on motion reprojection the smoothness is excellent, albeit there is a noticeable but acceptable deterioration when dogfighting near clouds up close to something like a Mig 29. Nothing I have is over clocked and my dodgy IPD measurement suggests I should leave well enough alone in that regard, I’m just getting back to my flying for now and having a ball. Now I can finally see “the ball” from as far out as 2-2.5 miles.......so that’s what it looks like!
  17. Thanks Wazzoo, that made a massive difference on my new HP Reverb. Very clearly explained also. Thanks heaps.
  18. Thanks Secoda, I appreciate that. I’ll wait to see the response.
  19. Thanks RePhil, that’s great. Does anybody else at least know whether the Windows 10 version compatibility issues have been resolved?
  20. I’ve just ordered an Aussie one too, they have indicated it will be here tomorrow! I’m slightly daunted by the set up issues but I’m also pretty excited. Can someone with some experience please confirm some issues lest I have to trawl through 300 odd pages.....again: 1. Best to uninstall Oculus software to avoid conflicts. 2. Make sure there is no power issues as per Wormeaten’s excellent observation. 3. Can someone also confirm that if I’m on Windows auto updates that whichever version is current should be fine? 4. Given I’ve been using stand alone DCS up until now I will need to install SteamVR and then add that as a non native game? Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions in addition to the above, 279 pages is a lot to go through.
  21. And you guys are closer to the plant than we are Downunder. :music_whistling:
  22. Warthog switch mapping Hello RogueSqn, As a bit of a novice with changes to files such as the .lua ammendments you're talking about, if I am to do this to the stable version, as opposed to the OB version can you tell me where I need to place the file. Someone else also mentioned how this would not be maintained when I update to another stable version. Is there a workaround for this? I am also presuming I can simply copy the original files to the desktop in case the whole thing goes pear shaped, is that right?
