  1. That’s the one, thank you very much. Incidentally, anyone here tried it. Worthwhile or not?
  2. Can anyone point me toward some new technique that ED is trying in an experimental form. I saw a video on it a few days ago but I can’t seem to find it in my history. The person who made the video indicated that a line in the code needed to be changed and suggested that it had something to do with not drawing what was not in shot. Importantly, it was suggested to provide significant improvements in frame rate. Bit of a shot in the dark but hopefully someone can help me out.
  3. I thing there is a case for a military turboprop trainer like the T6 Texan or Pilates PC-9. The Yak is not a modern military trainer and the jets are neither modern nor ideal for training. A turboprop with a reasonable ground speed would be perfect for practicing navigation, IFR and formation training. Additionally, the complexity of such a model would be simple for the developer.
  4. The flying Kiwis are a great bunch of guys, good laughs and good experience. I would like to have kept flying but they're going to war right about the time I put my kids to bed :-)
  5. I wonder about the practicalities of the VR style glove/hand tracking too. Having said that, I think there are possibly some easy workarounds such as the ability to inhibit selection of certain nuisance switches that you’re not likely to be wanting to select down near your elbow or perhaps even more simply, inhibiting the use of any switch not within say 20 degrees FOV. I think there are good workarounds available that have the potential to make VR use much better than it currently is but you’d need some pretty creative thinking and there’s a long way to go it would seem just on the technical capability too.
  6. No unfortunately. One of the distinct disadvantages of the current platform.
  7. I have heard one of the guys from Polychop, while discussing the upcoming Kiowa, indicate that the current API is not well suited to shared cockpit for some reasons that were certainly beyond my level of understanding. Perhaps that’s something that will change in the future but it had ruled a shared cockpit for the Kiowa out at this stage. I’m sure others could elaborate on that.
  8. Ah ha, I’d didn’t even know that I could do SHIFT + TAB thing, perhaps because I’ve been having a lot of trouble with MP lately. That’s great thanks very much. I’ll see you soon. Cheers.
  9. NOOB Question! Forgive my ignorance, I don't know how to register. I have seen that I need to paste my code to the "in game chat" but I'm new to this and don't know where that is. I would appreciate some help. Thanks. Willie
  10. Ok that makes sense now, so something like a 57 and hovering back down to 50 FPS on the red DCS FPS counter like I’m getting means that it indeed is not working. Perhaps by deleting the line that I did (unnecessarily) has somehow stopped it working, now I’ll have to go back and figure out how to reinstate that line in the vrsettings file so the GUI can work it’s magic independently. Makes sense. Thanks very Much Imacken.
  11. I can’t confirm that reprojection is working since the latest update. Someone from Steam VR (see link) has indicated that for around three months you need to delete the line in motionReprojectionMode line from the default.vrsettings file, which I did. And then, go to the in GUI and select enabled for DCS. This hasn’t worked for me, I can’t see the reprojection indicator after I restart and I don’t know how else I am able to confirm that WMR reprojection is operating. Any suggestions? To be clear, I am on the latest updates of SteamVR and my NVIDIA driver is the same. I also have kegerty’s shader mask on, perhaps this is covering indicator but I wouldn’t have thought so. I am not sure if I’m supposed to be seeing 45fps when it’s working or 90?
  12. I'm not sure what you mean, is it one of the settings in the SteamVR dashboard?
  13. Anyone know if I can display the reprojection indicator with the new style dashboard selection, I like the idea of seeing it appear in the top LHS of the screen to know that Microsoft hasnt switched it off again but perhaps I don't need to worry about that anymore?
  14. Disregard this post. My bad, the file size WAS too big.
  15. When I open DCS (latest OB) and go to Multiplyer server list, all appears normal until the list popluates after a few seconds and then I see nothing but stuttering and I am unable to select a server to join or move my cursor around the screen. Single player works fine, the problem has persisted over at least the last two updates despite cleaup and repair having been conducted. I am aware that there is another similar thread to this but I am not sure if it is still live. dcs.log
  16. Sorry to seem impatient, can we expect a response on this thread? I am not sure whether this is the correct log file you need. Let me know if something else would be more helpful.
  17. Same here Same problem as above, SP works fine with everything. No recent changes except to update to current OB. I have completed a repair and a clean up and all else is up to date. please let me know if this .log is not what you're after. kind regards, Willie dcs.log
  18. Ok, so that helps. I was surprised to get no positive feedback at all in the debriefing notes there, no medals, no scores. Falcon 4.0 used to hand out medals and promotions for a safe return to base having simply seen the enemy at a distance. I’ll keep working on it. Thanks for the response.
  19. Can anyone help me with understanding what I’m doing wrong please? I just a SP mission at night in the Hornet, I didn’t have any God settings on and I DID see a mission success notification upon egress as the bunkers I bombed were destroyed. However, when I look at my score and results, I can see that I successfully bombed my assigned bunker with the two GBU’s and I got zippity doo da for a score: I’ve only just started flying missions really, so it would be good to make them count.
  20. Yep maybe, but I’ve been flying IRL for twenty years and flying multi engine for the majority of that. It would be the first aircraft that I’ve ever seen that doesn’t have sideslip indicator including the A320 which is also a fly by wire aircraft for which you don’t generally use the sideslip indicator, that is until you have an engine failure, suddenly it become one of your most significant focal points, albeit our two engine are much further apart.
  21. Amazing that there isn’t some better indication, I know that they talk of it as being a centreline thrust plane for obvious reasons but I would have thought that a performance limited takeoff weight followed by an engine failure, particularly off a carrier would necessarily require the capacity to fly that precisely. Maybe it’s not so important, I don’t know.
  22. No problems, yes the VV is NOT showing slip so getting back to the original question, how would a Hornet pilot go about "stepping on the ball" as we say in the event of an egine failure after takeoff, particularly at night or in IMC, where performance might be a concern, suerly they're not going to be relying on the stanby atitude indicator for slip information? On a side note, is there any access to the Hornet "Red pages"/memory recall items or is that all restricted info?
  23. Anyone know whether the HUD is capable of representing a sideslip indicator? I am aware of the backup AI having a sideslip (ball) below it however I would have expected that the HUD would have some indication of sideslip or beta as it’s sometimes called. If you have an engine failure on takeoff you wouldn’t want to be going “heads down” to look at that very small indicator and yet you would most certainly need to know your beta.
