  2. guys, i've downloaded a lot of GB, but my steam version is stil 2.5.5 … i did something wrong or what ?
  3. i still have no TGP option for station 4. i'm on steam. any idea of what is wrong ?
  4. ...aim54 due to notch+chaff spam+cobra deceleration (...in few words, a miracle), miss the target...but hey...turns 180 degrees and keep tracking (even from its back, i had radar lock coming from 9 then from 3 o'clock) and keeps following….luck at least it lost too much energy… but if it was nearer with engine still on it was another ending...
  5. aaah ! finally someone that actually know the plane and its system ! thanks @fightsOn ! tested...and it works perfectly ! did you know if there is a way to achieve the same result with both engines off ?
  6. its normal that this missile track even while in full notch, and if for a miracle it miss, it just turn around and keep chasing ? seems quite strange , especially considering newer missiles like aim120 keep losing track by theyr own, and for sure dont turn like that !
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ahhh… well, i'm happy to see someone that is actually happy of the hornet, but i was tricked by people like you , so i think i must share my experience, to not make more sad people like me. F18 is still in EA (Early Access) , it has many features, but some of this features are still bugged, and a lot is totally missing. reading positive comments, i buy it years ago, hoping that in the time i would learn the already present features, the plane would be completed… but it was not. so the starting happines become a frustration of keep running in the same bugs everyday, that makes impossible for me to enjoy the module. plus , the devs started to work on other modules, slowing down even more the F18 development… and honestly i see no light at the end of the tunnel (but lets say its just me very negative…). so.. to cut it short...F18 is a good plane, in DCS the F18 module for the parts that are modeled and works ...its good. but there are bugs old of years, many missing features, and play it may become frustrating (for me it is) especially compared to other modules, that still have some bugs but are way more "all round complete" and enjoyable. so...to not do my mistake, before buy F18 just consider if you're a very patient guy, and years-long Early Access is for you. i hope to be of service to the community.
  8. here is a standard : one dont ask F14 invulnerability, but at least a decent damage model, not every hit plane explodes like Hollywood.
  9. exactly as topic starter say. after see F14 mirrors, i just wish F18 ones were like that : useful ! i can see plane and all needed on F14, while on F18 they just point a point in space that is not useful at all.
  10. i noticed it gives this error when server is full. sometimes it gives me this error for no apparent reason , server not full and online, with people in. sometimes i even have it on my own dedicated server… any solution yet ?
  11. heh.. in fact it was recorded in multiplayer...and in single player i was not able to reproduce. i need to try again MP, hoping to find some cooperative guys with F14...
  12. oh, i got an idea: simple as that : F18D ! seriously, ED throw in a kind of jester AI, change some values here and there and give a 3d model for the plane. 99.9% commonality with F18c . complete F18c and F18d and sell D variant to full price, so we have 2 >>complete<< modules. then they make F18e and F18f with simple or "average" systems complexity , afterall many planes module are simple systems and noone is crying about it (su27, su33, F15, A10a, su25t, ecc). and again commonality from F18c is really, really high , lets say 90% . sell F18e and F18f at full-discounted price and you have 4 complete modules, offering 4 different planes, with in fact a huge commonality for ED that means 1 work 4 times the results. PROS: we dont have to pay montly fees or re-buy already owned modules we can choose if / what to buy all this 4 modules would be completed, so an high quality experience for users. already owned modules stay as they are and no need to pay again. 3 new modules would bring more fresh air to DCS ED gets 4 times (supposing all buy) the revenue of F18 ED gets a image improvement delivering complete modules. ED will get all this with a 0.1% work on F18d and a 10% work on F18e and F18f CONS: honestly i dont see any cons… seems a win-win situation. customers get new modules and completed F18c, and choose if and what to buy. are not forced at all, just get "more" options. ED gets more revenue in a legit way, and with a very little work. yeah yeah, you can get this idea for free ED, i dont apply any charge, LOL !
  13. nope. maybe different version? the page 11-259 i have here its named : LANDING DISTANCE CHART , at section XI part 8. well if also the natops flight manual performance charts of 2006 is not considered a valid source, well i dont know what else will do. the video you posted obviously fall in the circumstances i described… in this case the F18 just keep going to the taxiway, not using full brakes for sure in the meantime. i really dont get this negationism, its obvious by logic, its supported by official data, and even all other planes are already in line with that, both in real world and in DCS. i really dont get why negate things like this. mah. BTW this material has been declassified, right ? we can talk about it freely ? i just wish to not break any rules about that...

UPDATE! reading the NATOPS manual (just google: a1-f18ac-nfm-200/210 ) its written at page 289 of the PDF or page 11-259 of the manual, that at gross weight of 32000 lb , Landing distance on dry runway is 2700 feet. in DCS in my test was 4740 feet ! (ok gross weight was 36000 lb, but is not a great difference) thats more or less in line with what i read here and there , most people mention 2000 feet to 3500 feet depending on how heavy. for reference for FA18e (E its not C but is quite similar), is stated a 3760 feet at maximum load ! i really wish someone give a look on that, because even if its a minor feature, its not just a "wish list".... its a wish to make it performing like the real one ! thanks ! EDIT: forgot to say in my research that i found that su30MKI can stop in 670 meters / 2198 feet (minimum , so lets say light on fuel), and in my test the su33 (not the exact same plane, but really similar ) with full fuel used 2930 feet to stop, so the result is in line with the data found .
  15. searched the Whole YouTube for a video of a complete F18 Landing from touchdown to full stop, but sadly most videos are cut just after nosewheel touchdown or F18 simply dont full stop and keep moving for the taxiway… so i could not have a real decent video reference. BUT... i did tests, since "nothing can make a proof" but for sure we can compare using our brain logic. so i took a full-internal fuel F18 and landed it at 136 knots at the very start of the runway, ended nearly the end of the other side, in line with a tree group near the runway as reference point. then i took the most heavy plane, su33 with FULL fuel load (and we know it holds waaay more fuel than F18 or any USA plane), landed at 136 knots more or less at the same spot at the start of the runway , and … get to a full stop in HALF the distance, near a radar for reference. at the same distance that su33 was to full stop, F18 was still to 86 knots ! here i attach the track for the guys interested to examine it. now, im not expert, but a su33 weighting 64655lb (20944 of fuel) should go longer than a plane weighting 36775lb (10803 of fuel) , even if it has better brakes ! ...or put in another way...as i think it should be, its the F18 that should go shorter ! i dont know if its the su33 wrong or the F18 wrong, but all planes are in line with su33, so i tend to think its the F18 the wrong one! hope it helps.   16. heh.. i really hope so… right now its really frustrating fight (especially gun fight) against other planes… even mig21, F5 and …(LOL) even mig15 (LOL) is waaaay more solid and can take more punishment than F18. its really, really frustrating lose a wing at each mirnor damage to wings, lose both engines and have a plane totally shut down each time a bullet hit the main body of the plane. really hope it comes fast, at least a simple damage model but more in line with other planes !
  17. well… on F14 (an older plane), i was totally able to glide it from 35000 feet and land it maaany miles away, without any problem. plus, F18 seems to lose both engine at once at every minor trouble… but again… i wish NOT to start a topic about why one should do this or dont do this, i just wish to know if its somehow possible or not, thats all.
  18. yep.. i tried everything, but flaps seems to Always come down… i hoped in a sort of "manual pin to fix them up" … but cant find anything like that.
  19. well, i would not start a debate about "why someone would manually do this or that" i just wished to know if there is a way to block flaps in position, be it disable FBW, or do some kind of "dont do that" things. thanks!
  20. so, no way to totally disable FBW ? everytime i get hit by a bullet or more the jet shuts down, and often i menaged to glide and try land… but the flaps goes full down and its like have a huge airbrake, seems quite nosense not being able to force them up. mah.

  22. hello guys, is there a way to fix flaps UP in F18? i mean, for example, when engines shut off, flaps automatically go all down, when i'm manouvring at low speeds, flaps move automatically, is there a way to fix flaps in UP position ? thanks
  23. eh...the track was near the end of a 1/2 hours play on JDF server , for experience the track so long usually desync badly. i will try to reproduce in a smaller time frame and upload here the track !
  24. hello, i run into this problem few days ago... here a video: i was following an F14, and tried to lock it with aim9M ...and nothing… no tone at all… after switching to guns and then to aim9M again, i got a growling sound...but no lock. and he was in full afterburner! ideas ? bug ?
  25. on that i totally agree. but a free trial week 2/4 times a year would be even better in my opinion.
