  1. Works fine for me. 4870 vapor-x and TIR 5. Where did you hear it doesn't work with ATI?
  2. I like notepad ++ because it has proper syntax for editing lua files.
  3. I think I saw them on there however if you don't flip up the pump switches for them they won't function.
  4. Never played the mission but I have run out of fuel before because of leaks and not paying attention.
  5. Yeah your Ekran was warning you forward tank was below 110. I think aft tank is bigger so thats why you lose 1 engine first, the other one is still running on vapor.
  6. Dropping a Mk-84 in support of ground forces, and just giving a friendly hello to those insurgents in and around the building :megalol:
  7. Don't take this the wrong way, However If you haven't owned a Track IR then how can you pass judgement on it's accuracy or abilities?
  8. I shudder at the thought of a su-25 taking off from a carrier. I would most like to see any type of multi-role fighter as the next DCS module. F-16 of course jumps to mind, however truthfully I would be happy with any multi-role aircraft. It's not so much the type of plane as much as I like the accurate replication of the task, and the ability to be versatile.
  9. TIR interprets any light source on the Infrared spectrum, Meaning sun light and regular house lamps. The only thing you can do with the pro clip is increase the filter for IR since it uses bright LED's. That hat thing has to reflect the light from the actual TIR unit. If you have a window behind you your kind of SOL unless you stuff a blanket over it or get some blackout blinds for it. So basicly any heat or light source that produces heat is going to screw up your TIR.
  10. Make sure drivers are updated like Panzer suggested and try dropping your visibility distance to medium. It makes a big difference on my rig more than anything else. AFAIK it doesn't affect how far you can see planes or helicopters or active objects it's more to do with buildings which really can drop my fps down quite a bit.
  11. Haha your talking to a complete idiot when you get down to the science behind modern guided weapons.
  12. So if I understand you right it can be slaved to the pod however the mav's seeker must still be able to attain a lock?
  13. Did you try using the new 1.02 shortcuts? 1.02 uses a new .exe and has the startup files in a different directory so launching with old or custom made shortcuts will not work unless you update them. If that's not the case try installing to a different directory than Program Files. I have Win7 x64 and I use a second hard drive. I use D:\Eagle Dynamics\KA-50\... Sometimes UAC in vista and Win7 can be annoying and cause programs not to run correctly. If that still doesn't work try downloading the patch again. I recommend using the torrent because it has built in error checking on files. So you don't have to worry about corrupted downloads. Sometimes downloading larger files through Internet Explorer can be a PITA.
  14. This might seem like a silly question. Does the LITENING pod increase the lock on range of the Mavericks? I would assume that they still use their seeker head however I don't know if they can be slaved to the LITENING pod's target.
  15. Guessing their master server is down. In the meantime you can try using your history. Up where it says Internet click on it and select History. You should be able to connect to any servers you have visited before.
  16. there's a .lua file you can edit I think to have the pilot show everytime you enter a mission. I'll see if I can try to find it. *edit* http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=619589&postcount=6
  17. I've had them hit me right in the face before . I tend to always be moving and have stopped using hover tactics to engage.
  18. It's about the same security wise. Both use online activation and both are able to be reverse engineered. It's like telling the swat team there's no other way in besides the front door.
  19. Definitly good editing done. Music needs to be turned down or put a soft limiter to cut out the peaking frequencies. Maybe use some sort of camera reticule instead of the Dragunov reticle from ArmA :P. First impression was oh noes someone's gonna get sniped in lock on!
  20. Not a bad video man. Holds my attention and provides entertainment.
  21. What exactly are the side effects? I've never tried it but it has kind of been bugging me on the ground when I look around.
  22. I flew IL2 since it came out without a Track IR thinking eh I can make use of the POV hat switch. Then I bit the bullet and got the Track IR 5 around Feb. All I can say is im a retard for thinking I could make do with the hat switch haha. You think at first " well this is such a novelty item" but then once you use it for a week or 2 your like " I can't live without it!". Also to whoever thought it's only 15 bucks to make one I highly doubt it. I would peg it more in the 70-90 dollar range to make it, and that's assuming pretty cheap TBH.
  23. True I goofed on the exabyte-bit part. And all I mean about the terrain is that you can have more of it cached in real memory instead of virtual leading to less load times during missions and less caching especially at the beginning. That really has less to do with graphics and more to do with how much data memory can hold rather than paging it to virtual memory and then calling it later. Wether it's sent to video memory to be processed or it's used by the processor for calculating AI route's or engagements, It's still loaded into system memory. My response initially anyways was in reply to the bigger world post anyways not in response to yours.
  24. Didn't touch on graphics of any sort in my post mainly the fact that more resources would allow for preloading or caching more data to RAM instead of to virtual memory or pagefile. Doesn't matter where the terrain is it has to be loaded into memory even before it goes to video memory to be rendered or displayed. Same for units and any sort of "data" that would hold a part of memory. And 2 ^ 64 or 18.4 exabytes roughly is the limitation of 64bit although yes, Different version of windows do limit that.
