  1. Happy Birthday man!
  2. Does he mean key bindings to change channels while in game? if so go to settings, options, Hotkeys. From in there just click add to set up a new key with binding. If you want specific channels you need to know the name of the channel or be connected to the server I think when you set it up. Otherwise you could set up 2 keys to just change channel up and down like a remote =D.
  3. Information overload WOOO!! Thank you Wags and ED team!
  4. I know I said it in server the other day but there was a bug where I was hit in my F-15 and I ejected and hit escape clicked briefing then fly and was flying down the runway at sochi or gudauta rather than being spawned on the ground. Not sure if it's a mission bug, game bug, or maybe just some sort of 1 time glitch. First time I've ever seen it happen though.
  5. You can load out with the S-8OM rockets which are Illumination rockets( correct me if I'm wrong) along with your vikhr's. Best way to employ them is be about 5-7km out and in a nice hover by hand and just rock back to about 10-15 degree's pitch up and let a couple loose over the target area.
  6. Alot of the time HDR looks like crap in screenshots but looks good in motion too.
  7. If you get the mission editor mod it allows you to duplicate triggers I think that will make that so much easier. Basicly just create a set amount of groups and name them Initial, Respawn 1 , Respawn 2... etc. Then create the trigger to deactivate group and activate the next "respawn" group. You can set it based on a flag, the time since the flag has passed, or the amount of mission time that has passed.
  8. One thing that helps contribute I think to the whole "Air Quake" thing is the scale of the missions. We have a very big theatre honestly and we can create many different scenario's. I forget what server I was on but red CAP was stationed at ANAPA and KRYMSK and blue was at MIN VODY and one of the bases down in georgia. The scale of it really immersed me more into it. Not to mention I knew if I was shot down it wasn't a little 2-3 min flight from base back to the "fray". The nature of the mission and the scale made me fly a different way than I would say on the 104th's operation moon shield mission where the targets are really close and the fighters only have short hops to get there. Easiest way I can put it is like comparing the scale of ArmAII or the ArmA/OPF series to something like Battlefield or Call of Duty. Another thing is the willingness of people to communicate. Now quite frankly and to be perfectly honest and blunt, someone who is going to go into a server just to shoot down planes and not contribute to the mission is either going to do that or leave. They most likely don't care about getting on TS or communicating with others. It is just about turkey shooting to them. Then of course you have the hardcore realist simmers who want a good experience more than racking up the kills. They fly this sim online to experience the thrill of flying a military jet/helicopter with others and to mimick real world experience. To them the thrill isn't about how many kills, but that the job is done and the job is done the right way and they worked together to accomplish it. Inbetween you have the casual simmer who could be a little bit of both. Maybe he needs a push in one direction or the other. He may not know enough about tactics and procedures to consider himself a hardcore sim junkie but wants to learn. I think as a community and as server administrators you/we need to decide what player type/base we want to cater to as a whole. You can't possibly please everyone or every type of virtual pilot out there. We can sit on the forums obviously and argue it until the end of time but it only makes a difference once the first step is initiated. Some thing that honestly would make the online experience better in my opinion would be actually requiring a pilot to be in TS for him to fly on the server. It's the first step. Doesn't matter if they speak russian, english, italian, spanish or german. It shows that they are ready to communicate as best as they can and work together towards a common goal. If they don't have a mic at least they can hear what is going on and they can type responses out if they have to. Communities in ArmA have been doing this for years and to great success, It promotes communication and teamwork over lonewolfing.
  9. Definitly WOW! I saw the detail on the dash part and my jaw actually dropped.
  10. NP just thought I would clarify my post anyways a bit more as it kind of sounded hostile to begin with.
  11. Actually I just stated that with the current implementation you have much higher or better of a chance than you probably should IRL.
  12. AFAIK 120C uses INS guidance up until terminal phase. If there was a realistic implementation of ECM and jammers, Things would be a hell of a lot more unbalanced than you think they are now quite frankly.
  13. You're talking about a game built on a reputation on an engine for a specific purpose and timeframe. ED is working on a constantly evolving engine for both current and future products. For this purpose it makes more sense to begin to open the doors for future tech than it does to close them and get left behind.
  14. It's 8 years old in december and it makes more sense to prepare for the future than to live in the past. It hardly means that they have to write it strictly for 11. They can implement feature's of 11 to be used if you have the hardware as most have already said. It all depends on how they implement it so discussing the shortfalls of the system itself are rather shortsighted and moot until you know more about their implementation.
  15. Well alot of the time I get the telltale unable even though a M1 abrams is lobbing a 125mm round at him. This time they just started ripping up the air defenses and ground targets like it was nobody's business. *edit* I am a tad pissed though because #2 almost sent a vikhr through my ass later in the track. Can't complain though he was actually shooting.
  16. Just flew the 8th mission in the GoW campaign offline and It was a blast. It was the first time The AI worked flawlessly. I really felt like I was a part of the mission between the radio calls from the wingmen. They also really helped me out. I just wanted to share the track as I was seriously blown away by the coordination and skills of the AI wingmen. We ripped those targets to shreds. ATO 07.2.trk
  17. usually when I alt tab out to switch TS channel or something I can't tab back in and have to end process and restart the game.
  18. I read that snippet on wikipedia so dunno how true it is or if the name is official but it said it was supposed to roll out 2008.
  19. I think they said they're modelling the AT version which AFAIK is the newest and is comparable to the Sniper XR. From what I've read it's got multi target queueing capability and a higher resolution for longer range designation and ID. Is the LITENING III the same as the LITENING G4 (gen4)? I didn't see anything on the LITENING III when I was searching just the G4.
  20. I have to agree they have become quite useless in a battle situation. I have only had one good sortie with an AI wingman where he actually did a slow run in on some targets and used vikhr's. after 3-4 he would run out and repeat until he was out of ammo. Usually you tell them to attack and they fly in and don't attack and then run over enemy sam's and AAA and die basicly. I've even singled out targets and datalinked them and they do the same thing.
  21. I use it in FC2 and BS with the cloud mod. It works although it makes it so you can't alt tab out.
  22. I'm actually quite curious as well. Are the AI routines being updated? A feature I would like to see is the ability to stop a convoy along it's path and also giving it multiple route's without having to create triggers for it.
  23. Yeah I agree there is room for improvement but the OP made it sound like it was non existant in a way hence my sarcastic response. I would also like to see both the mission planner and debrief in multiplayer.
  24. I think a large reason that you saw a big gap between A-10C and Blackshark was because of FC2. FC2's great and all but I love the realism in DCS and the focus to attention and detail.
  25. You always want to be scanning with the shkval. You can see targets out to 20km pretty clearly with it and you can always save them to abris to call upon later. First thing you should do is establish the forward line of the enemy and make a mental note never to cross it unless you are sure that all threats have been eliminated. Secondly you want to scan for targets with the highest threat potential, any kind of AAA, Manpads, Mobile launchers. Remember to use the maximum range potential of your sensors, only get as close as you must to I.D. targets. Get used to what they look like as well. Look for antenna dishes to I.D. if it's radar guided. Take out defenses first then work on mission objectives. Use the datalink and make use of your wingman AI or human. It's better to be safe and slow than fast and dead.
