Is that the page that tells me everything that happened in the sortie?
-
Actually I am refering to most of the posts about it somehow giving this advantage to the F-15 that it somehow would not have if ERI was not allowed. It is a function of the aircraft. It is slightly sarcastic yes. I'm not channeling anything into this that has not previously been said. If you feel that it should be deleted or edited then feel free to. The argument has gone back and forth with "yes it does, no it doesn't YES IT DOES, NO IT DOESN'T!". I think that people are even forgetting what it does and actually see it as some tool akin to cheating. I have read what it does and quite frankly aside from being able to switch from RWS TWS lock, and selective primary TWS bug it doesn't do anything that you cannot do in the sim. It just automates it which doesn't equal an advantage. It simply lets you concentrate on more important stuff rather than focusing on your radar. That is it's purpose in the real craft and with that said if it can be done in the sim I am all for it.

Pretty much all I gather from the 13+ pages of this is that people think ERI is somehow gonna make F-15's do backflips, pew pew their laser cannons and a plethora of other oddball idea's. Then there's also the idea of cheating through modifying ERI's script files which can of course be IC'd. Let me sum this up, If your afraid that cheating can be done THROUGH the IC then it can be done to any file that is IC'd including the precious missile tables. Complaining that ERI opens up a loophole is unfounded because obviously the loophole is there no matter what you IC. Secondly as far the whole pew pew thing goes, It's really getting annoying hearing the argument about the automation making you somehow superhuman. You do realize that all it's doing is something that my finger can do in about a second. The goal of it is to automize it so you don't have to worry about micro'ing your hat switch constantly just like in the real thing. If you seriously think that something as small as that is going to give the F-15 some superhuge advantage, especially when you have TWS and 120's on the F-15, you might want to reconsider. The whole notion that it somehow turns anyone in the F-15 into some superhuman or that it even affects balance is ludicrous. As someone should have said long ago, If you have a problem with the F-15 and its abilities well thats kind of tough because it's real and these are it's abilities and if your too lazy to learn how to beat it well It's your problem. I hardly see how ERI can make it any more invincible or harder to kill than it already is and I think most of you forget one important point. It's not the plane but the person in the plane controlling it that makes the difference.

Yep pretty much, Either use it or don't.

TBH im still a tad lost. You want to fake a missile launch?
-
Well it wouldn't be practical in any event to focus your entire radar on 1 target unless it was to guide a missile. You are potentially blinding yourself to any other threats that may exist. He will just go defensive and his wingman will nail you.
-
SARH missiles require tracking radar to acquire the target, and a more narrowly focused illuminator radar to "light up" the target in order for the missile to lock on to the Radar return reflected off target. They use continuous wave radar for guiding the missile and pulse doppler for tracking. When you fire the missile the continuous wave guidance kicks in basicly which is what triggers your RWR that a missile has been launched.

There are more advantages to it than just scan elevation automation. Stuff like being able to go from TWS STT TWS and being able to switch to different TWS bugs. I can't tell you how many times I've had a TWS bug and another contact pops up and I can bug him but I can't switch to him without either firing a missile or unlocking both and bugging them again. For me It's Efficiency, Realism, and Practicality. As for someone new downloading the mod, there is documentation for it to explain what it does. It's not the fault of ERI if the pilot doesn't read it or understand it. They just have to learn like we all did or are doing. Eventually with or without ERI they have to learn how it works to fully understand how to engage so it falls on their shoulders.
-
Well according to Wikipedia, it states: "The RWR can be an important tool for evading threats if avoidance has failed. For example, if a SAM system or enemy fighter aircraft has fired a missile (for example, a SARH-guided missile) at the aircraft, the RWR may be able to detect the change in mode that the radar must use to guide the missile and notify the pilot with much more insistent warning tones and flashing, bracketed symbols on the RWR display." I'm sure someone with more technical background can explain it in greater detail.

Have to agree with GGTharos honestly, It is "realistic". As for the argument of it being hard to get people to download the modman pack, Make it clear in the brief that you have to have it to join. Ignorance can only be used as an excuse for so long. I also fail to see how it provides some huge superior advantage like everyone makes it out to be. It's a "convience" like in the real thing. It takes some work load off of the pilot so he can concentrate on other stuff. You guys make it sound like I'm going to turn into superman using it, instantly decimating entire flights of planes, because it automates radar elevation scan.

I fly on the 104th and I would love to see ERI be used. It seems to me that all it does is add realistic functionality to the F-15. Nothing really gained in terms of advantage as much as a little bit of a lightened workload. *edit* To clarify you don't complain because someone has TrackIR and someone doesn't. You tell them to go buy TrackIR. Why is this any different?
-
I always take them out before I even step foot in the target area so I haven't been hit by one. Mostly it's those pesky Tor's =P

Avengers don't lase you AFAIK. Basicly just a stinger on a humvee. You have to spot and eliminate and hope they don't fire. Their max range is also determined by their skill level which may have been set to random. If he doesn't datalink you a target but calls out it's clock heading it could either be too far away or too far off to one side for him to lock it in his shkval.
-
Oh hey look, my video lol :). AFAIK they are simulated as AP rounds which is why they bounce. You can edit a cfg file I know to change them to HE, however you won't pass integrity check online. The ground is a hard surface and given enough deflection angle they will bounce.

AFAIK it only uses 2 cores anyways 1 for the game and 1 for the sound engine. I use win7 64 home premium and it works fine here. I just don't install in program files because it can cause problems with patching and having to run as administrator and stuff. Win 7 gives you better performance in DCS than winxp.
-
Just a quick tip. In Win7 don't install in the default program files x86 folder. it can cause problems when you patch to version 1.02.
-
Don't think there is a hud symbology for it AFAIK.
-
1. When you launch it should give you a timer in the bottom left corner of your hud that looks like M 24 36. That's 24 seconds to pitbull ( your missile is tracking the target with it's own radar) and 36 seconds to impact est. 2. It means that your 120 most likely locked a friendly that was near your intended target. If he breaks lock with your missile it still searches out another target.
-
Not 100% sure if this has been posted already but if you give an order to open or close formation while your wingman are trying to group up or catch up with you they end up flying straight, on full afterburner until they basicly run out of fuel and eject.
-
The reason the program files directory screws you up is because of UAC. When you take screenshots and stuff it saves them into a different folder. When you don't run as admin it uses files that UAC copied to a "secure" location I believe. They probably don't get updated during the patch process.
-
I don't have it set to run as admin however I do install to a seperate hard drive from my OS. If you install to the default program files directory it could cause problems. I always recommend installing to say C:\Eagle Dynamics\KA-50\... or something like that.

ok do you get the splash screen? and the menu come up? Does it give you any kind of error and if so if you could screenshot the error or type out what it says that could help.
-
I used 10.6 and I really had no problems. Is it specific to the 5xxx series? just upgraded to 10.7 and noticed an improved smoothness in FC2 and BS.
-
you sure that after you patch your using the 1.02 icons? I know that after the patch it creates them unless you tell it not to but it doesn't delete the old ones and the old ones wont work obviously.
