  1. I have an 8200dpi Roccat Kone Pure and I rarely use it over 2000 dpi not because a higher dpi isn't better but because it's a pain in the ass to setup and get used to. I have used it at 8200 dpi and the inherent problem with using a dpi that high is that you cannot get your in game or windows sensitivities low enough to properly use it and in the case of the windows sensitivity, the difference between no acceleration and the first bar of acceleration is huge. I've set windows to 1:1 mouse input and gone in game and tweaked it and it's much more accurate, especially on bigger screens which I've tested with 3840x2160 and 2560x1440. There's less pixel skipping with the flip side being that you have to get used to it. It's just a pain in the ass to setup and get used to and you run into issue's where you can't set the sensitivity low enough in some games and you can't dial the sensitivity in Windows either. I find Razer products to be effing terrible. Everything Razer I've owned has broken within the first couple of months and when I walked into Best Buy to pick up this mouse because they had an insane sale on it the guy trying to sell me a bunch of crap said all his Razer products broke on him as well.
  2. There was a Visiontek one on sale at tigerdirect for $234.99 and then there was a $15 coupon so you got it effectively for $214.99. Also if you setup bill me later you got another $15 off I think bringing it to $199.99. I think the sale is over now but it was a steal and I picked one up to go crossfireX with my other 280x. As for poor performance in the game, I've had no trouble with my single 280x running DCS World. Never had any issue's and runs the game a hell of a lot better than my old GTX 480 did.
  3. Possibly because a dedicated server would operate without render output so maybe since they are working on a new graphics engine they might write it so that the base engine can function without render output and alleviate the need for a GPU?
  4. Seriously the level of modelling and detail on this thing is great. Some things could use some work, like damage effects and graphic effects as well as terrain, Here's hoping EDGE comes out soon. Most of that though is global and not module related. It's honestly just a real joy to fly and it brings me back to why I love flight simulators in the first place.
  5. It's really just World of Mechs, not really a Mechwarrior game. There's no real objective outside of capping or killing everything. All the maps are extremely small, tons of bugs, low heat brawly weapons are the only really viable weapons due to the map design having too much cover, being too small and their adaptation of the heat system. Tons of bugs, lack of feature's and content, repetitive gameplay... It was a big letdown after I bought a founder pack and got into the beta. Decided to refund it back in September and wait and see how it did. So far it's tanking due to the lack of a new player experience, uninteresting grinding, uninteresting gameplay. Now they're gonna add in 3rd person view which I personally don't like and I think it's a slap in the face to everyone they promised that they would never look at 3rd person view because it took away from the feel of piloting your mech. All in all a pretty lackluster and dissappointing experience to someone who loved the MW series, read the BT books, played the hell out of Mechcommander and MCG and pretty much all of the MW series.
  6. One of the reasons it's unfeasable to have custom skins displayed in multiplayer is simply because of the size of ED's skin files. Usually they are anywhere from 80-130mb. The typical IL-2 skin file is like 2mb maybe. Probably less actually since they were 1024x1024 or 2048x2048 bitmaps I think. Maybe if they could implement some form of p2p file transferring between clients with the multiplayer server acting as a seed host, it might be possible. Also to use it you have to create a new entry in the skin database for each plane for each skin which is more in depth than just dropping it into a folder ala IL-2.
  7. Yeah you do, if they level up and they survive you get to keep them from mission to mission. You will then be able to call in higher ranked versions of the unit. Definitely a great game, A lot like WiC to me. I really really suck at it but it's still addicting somehow lol.
  8. True and I don't disagree with you on that point however very basic cars and trains do not make the environment. Using your own argument... What types of units can I place in the editor of each respected title? How does the overall detail of the environments compare? Do I have to emulate unit roles using other units? If I do, how does that impact the overall feel of the sim? Does it feel like the developers stuck a 1940's air frame in a sim designed for a much more modern battlefield depiction or does it feel like a fresh product? I guess I'm talking more about aesthetics. I very well understand your point and that aesthetics mean less to you than Systems Modeling and Flight Modeling. To others it is the exact opposite. You say thank the holy pizza dough for different tastes, Yet you can't listen to someones viewpoint that is a direct contradiction of your own? Sorry I just find it very hypocritical and also very common of these boards. Let it be what it is, someones view on the subject matter and move on. "We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us."
  9. Think you missed the point of my post Danish. Obviously I enjoy procedure as much as you do otherwise I wouldn't be on these forums, I wouldn't have learned the entire start up procedure for the KA-50 and the A-10C and I would not have practiced proper weapon employment procedures and systems manipulation. What I am trying to say is that if you look beyond the systems and the procedures to the environment, it is lacking somewhat.
  10. There's a lot more to a simulator than uber awesome modeling. The environment and the units and the feeling that it gives are a big contributor to the fun factor. If it just feels sterile and procedural than chances are it's going to get boring quick in an airframe that doesn't have a lot of systems to learn. One of the things that made IL-2 for example so fun and so successful isn't so much that it's easy to pick up and learn but that the environment and the modeling of the environment were so detailed. The units and the landscape and the era of battle was what pulled you in. There were people who wanted more realistic flight models and more accurate modeling of munitions and effects. I can bet you though they wouldn't be willing to trade a sterile environment for that modeling. Sometimes the feeling of flight is more important than the mathematics behind it. With the P-51 sharing the same environment as A-10C and there being no units of the time period of the P-51, it seems to me that it's going to be more sterile than it is right now with the current airframes.
  11. I don't understand the need for the rep system anyways. Nobody actually uses it based on how much someone contributes to the community or how accurate one's information is. I've gotten rep for some really stupid stuff were I just said "lol". Negative rep is stupid because it's basically used as a tool for all the fan boys to harass anyone with an idea or comment that they don't like, irregardless of how true or untrue the comment or idea is. There is a difference between someone being an asshat and deserving negative rep and someone saying " Hey I'm not sure I like this" and all of the people with the ED can do no wrong mentality spamming negative rep over and over as much as they can.
  12. Don't much have the time anymore and A-10C is having problems with my new GTX460. I submitted a support ticket and hopefully they can help me fix it.
  13. I put it up on ebay in case anyone is interested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/140683269849?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  14. Can you use the built in integrity check to check the .miz file?
  15. Still for sale
  16. Try running Furmark for about 15-20 minuites. If it runs that stable it's not the card more than likely. Also if it was overheating then a stress test or benchmark would fail before something like DCS would. Furmark will let you know if it's overheating or not, don't be surprised to see the temps climb up around 80-90c.
  17. Karkand on rush is the new official meat grinder.
  18. Looking forward to this as the bloom is too much in stock A-10C and there's more to HDR than just bloom.
  19. not really it's just typical...
  20. I understand that but what I'm asking is What could cause the Vikhr to fall short when firing from a hover with no lateral movement and for the range to drop at the time of firing?
  21. Ahhh ok thank you
  22. Just curious I saw a new trigger named ALARM STATUS under the advanced triggers for ground units. What exactly does it do?
  23. So what "could" cause the vikhr to fall short and the laser rangefinder to show an erroneous range?
  24. Does the laser ranger fire during or at all when you fire a Vikhr? I think #2 was that the Vikhr wouldn't hit and would end up falling short.
