  1. Did some rework on my IP (as in completely rebuilding it lol). Also finished the frame construction of the sides. The throttle panel is actually recessed about 2.25" to fit the HOTAS Wathog. The cougar throttle doesnt fit because the arm extends past the throttle, so I built a little insert to mount it on top for now. If anyone knows what the dimensions on the fire control handles are I would appreciate it as the fire control panel is my next build. I estimated about 1" in height, but it could be more. Im considering the fire pull handles by OC but they are kinda expensive and cant afford them atm. Plus actual panels and the new hotas are really expensive and I need to save up for those. Several additional photos added to my link below.
  2. Theres really only 2 things you need to consider. Just about any pot can work because it is only acting as a voltage divider. I think it is recommended to use at least 10k pot to keep current low. The other thing is that there are effective ranges on different pots where the extremes may not be totally linear with the rest of the 80% of motion. Higher value pots, again at lease 10k should work fine. Make sure you use a linear pot and not one thats designed for audio volume control as those arent linear.
  3. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-Hotas-Warthog-Joystick-Throttle/dp/B00371R8P4/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2 Looking for something? We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site. Go to Amazon.co.uk's Home Page Btw, this arguing is getting old. 16 pages of it and noone is bringing anything new to the argument. We know its expensive. We will know build quality when we've had one for 6 months and it's either falling apart or not. So either buy it or dont.
  4. the shutter glasses are a lot better. doesnt distort the colors but finding large screen compatible tvs and monitors are a bit hard. DLP tv is almost extinct.
  5. I cant find the preorder page. Searches on amazon dont come up with anything. Where are you guys pre-ordering from?
  6. where are you pre-ordering? I searched amazon and the hotas warthog wasnt even listed. the link provided earlier in this thread brings a page error saying it doesnt exist.
  7. Thanks. Im very unfamiliar with LUA programming and SIOC programming but Ill try to make some sense of it. If I cant figure it out I may have to reprogram the pic code and create my own app.
  8. I just purchased several OC cards for both input/output and I am trying to find some current information on how to link SIOC with the export.lua files found in the DCS simulation series. Any help would be appreciated and code examples would be even more appreciate.
  9. That post doesnt say what the bezel dimensions are. I plan on using OpenCockpits 5"x5" display and I am thinking about having bezels custom made for the actual size rather than using MFD cougars. I think this will give me full display without having the widescreen format of most current displays. Since it uses a tv out signal instead of vga, the display can be expanded or contracted to fit properly. The bezels appear to me to be about 7"x7" but I wanted to confirm that.
  10. Can you tell me what the bezel dimensions of the 2 MFDs are and if the rotory knob is also push button like on the Abris? Also in the video the caution lamps appear blue. Are they green or blue?
  11. Anyone know if that MFD knob is also push button like on the ABRIS? I suspect it is. Also trying to find the actual outer dimensions of the MFD.
  12. I made a change to the Fire control panel and reposted the above image. It was about 1" too high.
  13. nice setup. FS seems to be setup more for external interfacing than DCS.
  14. no but when you have 20 switches that need to be set to a certain setting depending on the flight condition this can be a hassle at best. If you get shot down or crash it can really become a pain in the ass to have to reset them all every time.
  15. Thank you, that is a good idea. Ive noticed that the sim already does this for buttons that are assigned through directx input. Ive noticed this already as a problem on my cougar for the non momentary switches. Starting the sim with it on requires me to cycle it before take off, or else bad things happen. Perhaps a popup should be brought up that allows you to select between cold start and take-off readiness and reminds you to reset the switches to their appropriate position before first unpausing the flight. Having your switches in off positions before starting an in flight game would be bad. Im a bit curious how they plan to implement this sort of thing on the Hotas Warthog if your supposed to be flying and your throttle/switches are in shutdown positions.
  16. Has anyone come up with a way to synchronize the sim with non push button switches? The only way I can think of is to have an application or firmware that sends a key input only on switch change. But that still leaves the dilema that if the sim starts with switches in the wrong position, it will no longer be synced. Since missions sometimes start as a cold start and other times already on the runway ready for take off, its not possible to always preplan all the switches in the correct position. If it was always a cold start I could implement a reminder to reset the switches to their default state but thats not always going to work. I have largely been putting off the programming until we know all the variables that will be in the sim and if export.lua will be the same. It was different between FC2 and BS and thats a lot of programming to have to redo or debug if the coding is different. I am trying to find a way to use opencockpits usb cards but I probably cant use them without reprogramming the chip. Id like to avoid having to design my own hardware because wiring is complicated and having them custom made is expensive. The company I looked at will only do a minimum of 3 cards for every design.
  17. Any comments or corrections are welcome. I had to guess on the lower panels since they are new for A-10C. On the top portion for the fire control panel I subtracted 1/8" all around since I intend to use formers and 1/8" sheeting on top.
  18. The MFDs seem quite a bit bigger than previous. Im not sure of exact measurements but I think they are between 6.5" and 7". I know the screen size is 5" which is quite a bit larger than the F-16 versions. So the MFD cougars are going to be a bit small on it.
  19. I just completely redid my measurements and have attached image. You can take it or leave. I did best I could with some of it guestimated. If you can use it enjoy. This is what I will be modelling mine on. Edit: Updated Firecontrol. Was about 1" too high
  20. sounds like that wont be anytime soon.
  21. Has anyone tried the opencockpits screen they use for FMC/CDU? http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/kit-lcd-screen-5-p-130.html?language=en
  22. OpenCockpits 5" display uses the tv out connection on your video card.
  23. Ive never used a usb display before but I would think both would show up as a windows display device.
  24. Dont be an asshole. Dismemberment was never a part of this sim. The point of my post is that you can drop any kind of simulated weapon without hurting anyone. The "cool effect" is the huge fireball it makes, not the people it kills. I think you need reread my post carefully before opening your mouth.
