Gbu-38 versions and Sniper pod and 30 mm question
sweinhart3 replied to The Beast's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Noone wants to see skin melting off of peoples flesh. But of course thats the beauty of simviation. You can crash and burn and just hit reset. So while the practicality of napalm in a sim like this is pretty much nothing, it sure would be cool effect. Then again Id love to see a tactical nuke too. -
Windows Vista/7 recognizes additional displays when you plug them in. Would it be possible to recognize, and assign several displays for mfd and cdu? Open Cockpits sell 5" displays specifically for this purpose and it would be nice to have a more user friendly interface for displaying external screens then the somewhat limited display settings in BS.

Well I read you can adjust the brightness as mentioned above but I was wondering if there was a way to have the game turn it off or on. Im thinking not but if anyone knew thought Id check.

Does anyone know if the MFD cougar backlighting on/off can be changed in game?

Are the sounds at the very beginning of the video a preview of what we might be hearing in flight communications? -

Got some work done today. Probably the last bit for the next couple months since school starts back up next week.

same here. after that I might have to retire my cougar, but it might be wise to hold on to it a bit until ED decides on the next aircraft.

DCS A-10C producer notes number one!
sweinhart3 replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Looks awesome. I cant wait. I have 2 questions. Will this have a dynamic weather system and are the trees still gonna be AI see through? Edit: Oh also the "grass" looks more like shrubbery. Is there gonna be grass with the shubbery or just what we see there? -
Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions
sweinhart3 replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Not that one will compare to the other very well but using FC2 A-10A to get some idea of the flight and weapon characteristics in preparation for A-10C was my only reason for purchasing FC2. Unfortunately it is a little buggy, but Id say its probably still the best practice for A-10C that you can get prior to release. -
afterburner is for adrenaline junkies. Who amongst us would like that? Id love the idea of Mach 1 at 100ft off the ground.

Interview with Matt Wagner and New Screens from DCS: A10
sweinhart3 replied to JelalTrueshot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
well at some point it would have to be unrealistic to keep up older titles. Five DCS titles later having to come out with 5 patches that take months to create bug free would not be feasible, especially business sense. There has to be a limit for backwards compatibility and title updates. -
I personally like to FD for fixed weapons employment, A2A manuevering, and landing. All other times I use the regular AP channels. I find that even if the aircraft is trimmed well it still takes stick corrections to stay on path in FD mode. I also have not had any problems with the new trimming method or fighting AP authority during flight transition. Its not difficult to keep trim engaged while transitioning and letting go when Im at the attitude or speed I desire.

Actually Im surprised we've got this much preview for A-10C. Earlier Wags said not to expect any details before July. Looks pretty exciting though. Cant wait. -
Current state of my pit I havent really done much with my pit in quite some time with full time school and work but since Im on school break I decided to cut and make the beginnings of the instrument panel. I also included a couple of pics of my setup as is.

yep. the sim never reaches above 2.5gb memory usage. Additional ram just allows other programs to simultaneously be stored in memory.

New info on DCS A-10C and on thrustmaster HOTAS!!
sweinhart3 replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
As I just stated, the pedals have a digital output signal and therefore is incompatible to the standard analog gameport if you purchased the cougar version. A gameport to usb adapter will not work. I got this straight from the mouth of dhs-electronic representative. -

sweinhart3 replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You would probably either have to have 3 usb ports or just use the base of the original cougar with the new stick and get away with 2 usb ports. I think you would lose 1 button functionality. I purchased simped myself and they told me the cougar version will not work if it is simply plugged into a gameport because it has digital output instead of analog. For this reason I had mine custom made black paint and with usb output. They didnt even charge me extra for that. -
If your using Blackshark or a sim with clickable cockpits then TIR 5 is better. I find it to be much smoother when your trying to focus on one spot like a switch. It has higher resolution so it can sense smaller head movements and is less jerky. Also as stated earlier it is much less sensitive to surrounding light. When the sun was shinig in my room it made TIR4 completely unuseable but since I upgraded it hasnt been a problem at all. I wold recommend it. For non clickable cockpits its not as big a deal.

I am wondering about the effectiveness of the A-10 gun on the T-80 MBT. Any other target I have been able to take out with the gun using only a half second worth of gunfire. The T-80 however I have tried on numerous occasions to take out with the gun on several missions and cant seem to do it. Ive sprayed several hundred rounds on it with several run-ins and it wont die. I know Im hitting it cause at mission end it says I hit it. The only thing that seems to take em out is either a maverick or a direct bomb hit. Anyone else have this experience? I always heard that the GAU-8 is a tanks worst nightmare.
