yep. but if a unit is firing or moving in the direction of your forward line of troops, its probably an enemy. It can also be a little tough at first, but get to know what the enemy units look like. they are different. you can see the difference between an M1A1 and T80 or M1A2 and BTR.

Wow this thread is all over the place. Crappy blackshark to FA-18 sims to DCS-A10 to iRacing. -
Nice find. Pre-ordered. Do you get charged right away or when it ships?

Hope they are really accurate. Cause FC2, anything but a direct hit doesnt kill squat. -
The dos version of EF2000 was the coolest. I spent hours just trying to get good at in-flight air refueling. i didnt even bother with weapons employment. After they made the second version that was Windows compatible, it was just broken.

SHORAD is a radar guided sam isnt it? Why would you attempt to get well within its strike range to drop bombs? In FC2, pretty much all sams launch at me well before Im even close to bombing range. -
INU alignment coordinate versus orientation question
sweinhart3 replied to ChromeWasp's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
45degrees is way too much. Are you sure you dont have something like a target/waypoint selected on the PVI? If you have a waypoint selected and enroute mode on that is north and you try to fly west, itll let you fly west but still attempt hold the heading north. Trying to trim the aircraft in another heading will just fight the autopilot. INU drift wasnt implemented in BS. -
A-10 uses the standard AcesII seat with a couple of differences from the F-16 version. You can purchase one from SCSimulations.com, or if you want a do it yourself thing, I have a pdf file with complete dimensions and instructions on how to construct one. The pdf file is for the F-16 version, but you could make the modifications for the A-10 model.

The biggest thing you want to check for is the lumen rating and the resolution. I wanted a projector but eventually decided against it in favor of a big screen tv because most except for the very expensive ones would not be bright enough in a lit room. Most projectors are not 1080p. Not to try and disuade you, but I would highly recommend considering a big screen tv over a projector. They cost about the same, tvs have a lot more color and brightness to them and with todays 3D models, if you plan to use Nvidia graphics, 3D computer gaming viewing will be an easy to integrate option. There are 3D projectors but they are substantially more expensive. I am using a 50" plasma 1080p hdtv and it cost me less than $1500.

INU alignment coordinate versus orientation question
sweinhart3 replied to ChromeWasp's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The aircraft flies sideways because thats how it was designed. It has a natural tendancy to bank during forward flight and so the autopilot uses yaw to counteract. Forward flight wont be straight and level like in other aircraft. -
Im so upset. I glued the stepping parts onto my IP and found that I cut the damn thing 1/4" too far to one side. I put several days work into it and now if I try to put all the instruments in its not going to fit right. I think Im gonna have to find a way to have one professionally cut.

Hah. You would never get away in time. You need a high flying fast bomber for that type of weapon payload.

Ive put a lot of practice in A-10A gun strafes of tanks in FC2. I dunno ifits just me, but to get 1 tank kill with requires several attack runs and 1/3 to 1/2 of my cannon rounds. Other vehicles usually only take 1 no more than 2 attack runs to kill. Still I have to get close enough most of the time that they get shots off at me first. APCs are rather deadly. KA-50 is much better at sniping these sort of things at stand off range. -

at full power, straight nose down, with nothing on your stations? I could see that. Im sure its possible to overstress any aircraft if you really try. -

I think you still have to set affinity for XP. Vista and 7 are automatically taken care of. -
Well if its 2 1/8" that sucks for me cause I already glued the stepping for it at 2"

thanks. I just spent $100 in cyan colored leds for caution panel. I did buy some green yellow and red ones for good measure. The pic shows certain indicators being different color so I might wait to see some other pics with lit up lamps, but at least I can start with knowing what the indicators say. Hoping to get some answers from the testers team for confirmation on the indicator coloring before I start gluing and wiring these things. Also any idea if the Master Caution lamp on the UFC is a push button or just an indicator?
-
Well the producer notes showed blueish colored caution panel lights. I also believe I saw a pic somewhere with one of the IP lamps being green and stating Gun Ready or something like that
-
I am getting ready to make my IP and caution panel indicators and wanted to find out what the 4 lamps on the top of the IP say and what color they are as well as find out if all the lamps on the caution panel are a single color.
-
Thats what I thought. I planned 2" on mine based off of generic specs.

I guess the export file was outputting the indicators after next event. I moved to export every frame and its much better. -

thanks Ill look into it a bit. How are you able to snoop out the values being sent by the sim? Especially in real time? I tried mapping one of the outputs to the low rotor rpm warning as well which doesnt have a switch attached to it and it was doing the same thing. -

There should be no good reason for a delay tho, especially on a relatively simple script. If anyone knows the fix pls post. -

BS not only simulates flight dynamics but avionics modelling, damage modelling, ballistics moldelling, and plenty other stuff. I almost went to work for a company that makes and operates full motion professional flight simulators. If flight dynamics are simple to accurately compute, why do their simulators require 6 top of the line networked servers to run it? ED is trying to squeeze as much as they can onto 1 pc, and obviously if the cpu is a major bottleneck, then that alone suggests that the amount of computations being required to run on a single cpu is near the max it can handle.
