  1. Had to learn this when I loaded the gunners with open Cargo Doors. Poor gunners had to sit out in the Air for the rest of the flight holding on to that Door for his Live.
  2. Greetings I have found the JG1 on the forum but i'me not really sure if I can manage to be a part of it. Are there any fixed dates per week on wich you operate and any requirements on how much someone has to be there? I am currently part of a casual squadron which I don't really want to leave but I also would love to get some more serious flight hours in my beloved Fishbed.
  3. From my knowledge High altitude level Bombing was enabled by Bomb sights. Since the Mig doesn't have a bomb sight installed this could be quite difficult. The easy answer would be to pull a JU 87 and do a vertical dive. After all, the Mig has Air breaks, so it must be a dive bomber. The other solution could be to steal a trick from your WW2 Mud Mover Comrades. Some variants of the IL-2 had lines painted on the hood helping them with bombing. A custom skin and a lot of trial and error would make that possible.
  4. Last I checked the manual frequency selector crank was still broken.
  5. Also a small hint. You don't really want to look at the Mach indicator to warn you about impending Flameouts. The mig doesn't really care about tas. What you need to look at is the AIS Indicator on the upper left. Keep the IAS below 1200 and you are a happy camper. You can push it to 1300 if you feel lucky and if you know how to manipulate the nose cone manually to 1400.
  6. Isn't this one of the planes that one of the Hosts of the Alert-5 podcast flies?
  7. He needs to have them on the tid in tws without hooking them on the ddd. They will have a number next to them telling him in which place in the launch order they are but to be sure most times I manually hook them on the tid and then launch. But you will need to keep all the targets in the tws lock until they go pit bull.
  8. Yeah, seeing someone getting a product for free which you paid for and have seen no trace of it for now 10+ month pisses you off a bit. But I think he did a fair review adding that disclaimer at the end. I think I wouldn't be less angry If I knew what I was getting myself into instead of reading the buy now just 5 left of the December batch status and thinking they already had the product in their Warehouse.
  9. Er erzeugt hub dadurch dass sich die blätter durch die Luft Schrauben. Also ein Hubschrauber. Nicht zu verwechseln mit einem Bugschrauber. Dass ist das Resultat eines fehlerhaften Trägerstarts.
  10. Thank you, that's a much better Explanation than I could give. But yes, it isn't really something you would do in a dogfight and more something for a top speed test or if you feel lucky and really need to outrun something in a straight line. There is probably a reason why this thing is normally reserved for Planes that go really fast in a straight line like the blackbird. The Manual gives us the following Instructions. Landing: 0% Speed <1,4M 20% Speed 1,4-1,6M 25% Speed 1,7M 35% Speed > 1,8M 40%
  11. That's the hard part. Generally, the higher you go the further the auto cone extends. From what I gather it controls how much Air gets into your Engine. Extend it further, you get less Air and less power. Extend it too far and your surge shutter doors will start to slam open and close. The more you close it the more Air gets to the Engine. Close it too far and your Engine will go out. It also seems to have something to do with the Shockwave you produce going faster than mach1 but I'm not really an expert on that. Just get a clean jet and unlimited fuel and go experiment with it. But first and most important, get the Engine relight procedure down. As you might experience it is something that is needed quite often in the Mig-21.
  12. What do you mean what they have done to the flaps? Mig-19 had the same system. Also the variable nosecone system is pretty advanced but also a bit instable. They built this thing to go up to height and chase B-52 Bombers. Just stay away from < 0.5 g situations, sudden increases of aoa or more than 1200 IAS and you will be fine 90% of the time. And getting up to 1400 IAS above ground with the nosecone in manual and the right position is still pretty fast.
  13. Yes, I had the same problem. It's best to set it to what you will probably need and then just Activate and deactivate the auto mode. From my experience if you know what you are doing you can get an extra 100- 200kph IAS out of it before your engine Goes out, but you also can blow wit up that way. Maybe that was the reason it was advised against to use it. But from my observations the auto control is pretty rudimentary.
  14. I'm not really that Experienced in Jet Combat but as someone that has flown the Mig-21 quite a bit I would give you the following Advice. If you Try to outrun / out climb it in a straight line that's going to be pretty difficult. It's where the Mig excels. Maybe try to force them into tight Turns forcing them to drain Fuel with AB. Pressing the trigger on a Missile you have about 1-3 seconds until it fires in the Mig. If you go through the window quick enough they won't be able to Fire. The radar looks only down 1.5° so of you go low they will have a pretty hard time finding you. There is also a Limitation on how long they can use the Radar. Combined with the limited fuel Time could be your friend.
  15. Ok thank you. Now it all makes a lot more sense. I Think I still was hoping to find the Magical Ferry dust switch that makes the Engine not go out as much as it does.
  16. From my point of view most issues with the Flight model have been fixed. What is really the Bain of this module keeping me from enjoying it are the Key bindings. It's not that they are not in there. They just don't work. Many buttons only work if you bind them on a key but not on the hotas. But the worst offender is the ndb turning knob. There are button bindings but they both turn it in the same direction. If you try to drag your Mouse, it will flip flop back and forth. The only way to use it is by Mouse wheel scrolling. And when you finally have set the right frequency you are probably on the brink of crashing into something. Most missions will require you to Navigate by ndb stations. So as petty as it sounds, I would hold of from buying it until at least this little crank is fixed.
  17. After conquering the Mig's 15 and 19 I Recently started to feel quite at home in the Mig-21. But diving a bit deeper into the controls even somewhat getting the idea of how to control the Nose Cone Manually to gain a few kph of ias before my engine shuts down I must admit that one topic still confuses me. Engine Surge Shutters. There are two types of Shutters on the Mig-21. One pair of bigger inward opening shutters below the cockpit and a Pair of smaller outward opening Shutters in the front. But the Manual always just speaks of the Engine Surge shutters. The larger pair opens on the Ground and seems to help getting air into the engine at low speeds. They close Automatically after Take-off and I haven't been able to find any Manual control for them. The Shutters in the front only seem to open when I switch the Surge Shutter control to manual and close on auto. When you extend your nosecone too far out you start getting loud metal clunks which the Manual describes as the shutters opening and closing. But when I look outside and have the shutter control in auto both shutters stay closed. When I Open them manually the noise still remains. Right now I only know of one switch that could have anything to do with it which is the Engine Nozzle Position 2 Switch. However, I haven't jet figured out what this does. Am I Missing something or have I just reached the limits of what is and isn't simulated in the Module?
  18. Maybe he's talking about the buttons that you can't really bind to a Hotas yet. ARK Frequency dial, Wingspan, Target Distance and dive angle selector, Gunsight uncage and so on. Otherwhise the Module is really good.
  19. In the DCS World they bought some more because of the many sightings of my mig flying 2 meters above the Street.
  20. Greetings Comrads Slowly I think I'm getting a hang of this magnificent hyper futuristic beast Called the Mig-19. But since this is my first Module with Rockets that don't just fly straight I thought I may ask my fellow comrades for some advice. Right now I still feel like it's just a random chance if they hit or miss, is this supposed to be that way or is there a trick. So far I have been releasing them in single shots between 4-2 kilometres from the target. For Bombers straight from the rear. Against fighters I Tried to do a JU-87 style dive onto them, try to go into a leading turn and then fly straight for a moment to get the G-Meter below 2.
  21. Propably because it's to Old and has the the systems of a late ww2 for the Modern Jet Pilotes and WW2 Warbird Pilotes don't really like to touch Jet's. But as a Person that has only flown ww2 piston Simulators This was a perfect introduction and i will be happy to try out the Mig-19 to get even a step further in to those Hitech planes. But even the Mig-15 is just such a joy to fly. Its like petting a Cat's belly. You better be ready for the inevatable bite.
  22. About a Year ago i made my first step in to dcs, buying the SU-33 because it just looked cool. But once I entered the plane I felt like a freshly unfrozen captain America coming from mainly playing IL-2 and only reasearching WW2 Planes. So many blinking lights and switches and screens. Then I took of without retracting the leading edge flaps and got yelled at constantly by some angry Russian Woman. I Learned the Russian phrases for pull up you itiot. You are going to knock you out with those g's you donkey and Vodka spilled over the engine and ignited it you capitalist pig. (At least that's what I think she means.) Now a year later the Alert 5 Podcast has reawaken my intrest and I got my self the Yak 52 and the mig-15 Much better choice for me and I have finally gotten the approach for this sim. The Yak is so much fun and I think for me it starts to beat out the Ishak as my favorite Aerobatic plane. And the Mig-15 is just out of this world. So much speed and raw power and the quirky Russian design all over. Ho needs blinking lights for the dashboard if you gan splash some paint on it and mount to uv lights in the cockpit. Moving this fing trough the clouds is like giving a Cat Belly rubs. You better be ready to pull back if it bites. So Yes this has been my story how I have finally gotten into this wonderful sim and maybe if I take a few extra steps with the mig 19- mig 21 ect, I might one day be able to take that Su-33 for a ride and understand what to do with all those screens and buttons. Altho I'me still not to sure about those Air to air Missiles that do those curvy things.
