Flying Russian Airplanes on 100% throttle is a hehaviour that is also present in the other WW2 simulator that shall not be named. I think there are two competing theories for that behavior. Either the Russians didn’t trust theyre pilots and severely limited how much power a Pilot could ask of it’s engine or it comes down to more or less strict regulations in the respective Manuals.

Pylon select knob vs air-to-air missile type select switch
Sarpalaxan replied to VC's topic in MiG-21Bis
As I understand it your Arm switches are the respecting circuit breakers. A true Arming switch only exists for Bombs. The neutral position is supposed to be for unguided munition. With the described behavior a Pilot would only need to change one of two switches to change from ir to radar instead of both which could be quite valuable when in the heat of battle. -
Realteus Good news \ Bad news
Sarpalaxan replied to HoYa's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Good for you but da **** are they sending out productr to Orders from 1 Week ago but not to Clients who are waiting for 1.5 Years? Hope It's ok if I used your Post in an E-mail to theyre support. Altho I don't have much hope anyone will ever read it anyway. -
As someone living on the Same Continent as Realtheus and now waiting 1 Year and 10 months since I placed my Order I admire your optimism.

[INTERVIEW] Razbam is the guest of the Air Combat Sim podcast
Sarpalaxan replied to tugais's topic in RAZBAM
I May be a bit late to the party but I justhad to write something about this Interview. Or better because of it. As someone who complained about a Keybinding In the Mig-19 ant that not always in the most polite way I felt directly spoken to. I just want to say I’me sorry. Hearing a Developer Valuing the mental Health of his Artists more than deadlines is saadly a rare occurrence in the Gaming Industrie. Please do not stop holding up those values. -
Interview about MiG-21 with Air Commodore Surendra “Bundal” Tyagi.
Sarpalaxan replied to Fri13's topic in MiG-21Bis
Yes. Working with heating and cooling systems for Buildings that would be my conclusion too. Now the question its if we get a bit more Radar time if we start in Warmer surroundings (although it isn't really a serious one). But still an interesting titbit about what has become my favourite Aircraft. -

Indeed, a great episode. You can feel the pure excitement about this Aircraft when he speaks about it. It also speaks for the DCS Module that it manages to catch a part of this feeling so we can somewhat relate to him when he speaks. One of the new information's that I picked up that the Radar is only cooled by Alcohol in Colder climates. At least I have never read that fact before. -
My Throttle started to generate random imputs after a bout a year due to some wires being in the way of throttle movement. Would not recoment.

Why so negative? Let People play the Game how they want.

Well with all due respect, I-16 is effing confusing
Sarpalaxan replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: I-16
The I-16 is relatively short and doesn't really have the ability to o lock its tail wheel. As far as I know it is connected with a spring to the rudder pedals. Compared to other Warbirds It's Engine is a big part of its weight and a large part of this engine's weight is turning. In combination with the somewhat flimsy gear this isn't an easy task. I would suggest keeping an eye on the turn and bank indicator. It will show you that you are drifting before you notice it. -
Wait. You are not suposed to use the Chute on a normal Landing? Every procedure I read so far said to use it to get down from 300 to 150 kph. So you tello me that they have a chute, only deployed in emergencies that has no security to not deploy if you are in the air or too fast and the button doesen't even have a cover? That's the most Mig-21 thing I have ever discovered abut the Fishbed.

Rudder only starts to rally make a difference above a certain speed. raise the Engine power slowly and gradualy and use the Wheel breakes to stay straight until your Rudder works. Duddenly cutting power rapidly changes the speed of the propeller with that the torque effect it is having on your Plane. -
Custom Skin for Smokewinder possible?
Sarpalaxan replied to Sarpalaxan's topic in DCS: F-5E Tiger II
Thank you so much. Kinda new to skinning in DCS. Does it matter where in the Lua I put the line? It's propably going to be Black and Jello The words PBR and Roughmet are mostly gibberish to me, but i'me sure that in a few Months it will make sence. For now i get trough with Frankensteining LUA's and Skins. -
Has Logitech quit HOTAS production...?
Sarpalaxan replied to Shaky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wouldn't Recomend the X56. My throttle started to make random imputs after a year or so. -
I'me working on an Aerobatic Skin for the F-5 right now. So I wanted to ask if it is possible to onclude custom Smokewinders in the skin. I found out that it is possible to have Custom Drop Tanks, but I haven't found a skin containing missiles. Does someone know if they can even be referenced in the Description lua?

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Sarpalaxan replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I wouldn't call them an I win button, but from My perspective more Modern Planes tend to Have a higher Skill floor and a lower Skill ceiling. It also takes a different set of skills which naturally speaks to different Players. One asks for a greater level of Mechanical skill and intuition, the other for the management of different systems and which to use when and how. But that's just my limited view on the subject. -
If you never have to change NDB Chanels mid flight or don't use them to navigate it doesen't really matter. But using the scroll wheel to move trough the Frequency range while looking down in a Plane without Autopilot really isn't a pleasent expirience.

Aircraft before the 1993 tech explosion for DCS
Sarpalaxan replied to Pikey's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Jeah, still find that Generation table odd. Putting a Gunfighter like the Mig-15 into the same Generation as a Mig-19 with AB, Radar and IR Missiles and Meanwhile Putting the F-5 a whole Generation above the Mig-21. But hey, more older Aircraft are always great. Really loved the Mig-21 and felt like the F-14 was just too "Modern" for my taste, so maybe something in between would be great. -
Will have to disagree with you on that. Don't need any of that Fly by Wire, BVR, GPS and HUD stuff.
-
It means that the target is in that direction in true heading. You have to convert that into magnetic heading (on the caucasus it's -6 for exampel) and then point the needle on your compas to that number. So if you are on Caucasus and AWACS calls out 6 you have to fly directly North.
-
Well, we already have the Mig-21. What other 4th Gen Aircraft could you want? :pilotfly:
-
I think more interesting although probably not possible would be a limit on new External Tanks but not on refuelling the ones brought back from Mission.
-
Greetings. It was a few Days Ago when I was Flying the Mig-21 on one of my friend's servers. I remember returning from a mission by flying 17meters above Water (per Rader Altimeter), going for the auto recovery and it holding that Height, in all future attempts the plane went up to a 100m "safety" height before levelling out. Is there a specific thing I could have done to override that? Or was it just an unusual bug?

[REPORTED] ADF Manual Frequency keybindings
Sarpalaxan replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Resolved Bugs
How hard can it be to fix the Keybinding for a single crank? This single little knob is keeping me from properly using the Module. Such a Shame.
