  1. Interesting.... Love having legit guys from the Brownshoe Navy here. I'll add...there is often more than one "right"way to fly and airplane. Thanks for all you add to this community Victory.
  2. Thanks Smartass.... Smartass is correct it is "Direct" For some reason I always want to call it dynamic
  3. With Flaps down, The DLC switch ONLY commands the DLC "inboard spoilers" up or down. It has ZERO effect on flaps or slats It is called Dynamic Lift Control because it does just that...it spoils lift without re configuring the wing and affecting AOA "much", or Airspeed. Aeronautical Nerdery here.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_(aeronautics)
  4. Tundra...those two images illustrate...Full Flaps, and what looks to be full or partial Maneuvering Flaps. When extending either Flap mode it will program the leadgin edge slats to extend accordingly.
  5. I'm not an ex fighter pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday in Express last night...and I have flow a plane or two...So... I would recommend you take her up and set yourself a hard deck and practice the break as well as and possibly more important...configuration changes to the landing config. Get the feel for how pitch and power have their effects. I was once told the Case I recovery is primarily an instrument turn and procedure until you are rolling into the groove, so I work it that way. My general sequence of the break... -HUD OFF -About 385 IAS entry 800AGL -Idle -Speed brake full -Bank angle...whatever I need to maintain level turn...this will vary as speed falls off and you unload through the turn and the wings move forward. Reference VSI, VDI and windscreen picture for awareness. -Roughly 45 into the turn wings to auto...they will start forward Speed should then be falling into the VLO range roughly 90 into the turn -Gear out as I approach 250 IAS -Now approaching 180 in the turn and BRC Reciprocal Start bringing in power (not too much) as speed will decay as gear extends Start pitching up to slow and work for On Speed Flaps out as I approach 200 IAS - anticipate and counter two things -balloon -speed decay -DLC on -As she is settling up, adjust power and pitch for trimmed AOA -Descend into the pattern 600AGL -As you turn in after the round down, give a bump in power as you roll into the turn (remember you rudder, KEEP it coordinated!!) and let her settle out. -Adjust DLC as needed. Remember.... Pitch ALWAYS controls airspeed Power ALWAYS controls descent rate ***Trick is not to EVER get behind the aircraft and anticipate power needed to control descent at any point in the approach. If you get her trimmed for proper AOA in the downwind, life is easier as you enter the groove. If you ever have to add a ton of power to correct and push up to Mil...you just borked the approach as DLC and Speed Brakes will stow and configuration is now all sideways. You can recover, but truly if you get to that point, a go around is in order. I hope this helps....Good luck and have fun!
  6. I believe you are mistaking the spoilers up with Spoiler/Brks on for DLC since DLC will not deploy unless you are in the following configuration... Gear Down Flaps Down Power less than Mil So once the flaps are down, activate DLC. I have my DLC mapped to my slew axis, but truly use it in more of a ban bang, on off sort of way. I may hold it up or down full hasten a change in descent rate in conjunction with a throttle change. As for Flaps, aside from the maneuvering flaps, (which incidentally is controlled by the same DLC controls when NOT in the landing configuration I listed above) are up or down...full or none.
  7. Wing tip lights will not come on until the wings come out of sweep.. When Swept the wing root lights server as left and right pos lights.
  8. Have you had a look at Thud's Blog? https://vr4dcs.com/category/reverb-setup/
  9. Yes that G-seat concept is also something kicking around in my head. I am pretty sure I can build the mechanics of it, just the software piece is where I would fall....for now the jet seat will have to do. plus i would have to rebuild a cockpit i just finished and no time for all of that.
  10. Works perfectly with the Reverb. Been using mine for about a week. Just as when I went from TrackIr to VR....moving to VR with the Pointctrl...I don't know how we did this before. Truly and honestly a game changer and THE way to flight sim in VR. Add in a jetseat and immersion is COMPLETE...short of a full motion setup.
  11. Longing for FFB which will give a feel of actual control surfaces which push back at you. This...I will watch with great anticipation as it is the last thing after VR and a Jetseat to complete the highest fidelity home SIM possible.
  12. Yea chill Nealius...I mean...you are not making any money from producing videos online. How dare you criticize ED? The frustration with ED is that unless you are in the inner circle of testers...you get bumpkiss unless they feel it warrants. And I understand they have a business to run and a brand to tend to, but really.... Posts everywhere of people scratching their head as to why anything such as this seems to happen. Barley a word, but from forums users in conjecture... This little feature is a change they have made which many have used and enjoyed (which even promotes their product all over the web in videos) and it really would not be hard to just address it instead of allowing the speculation. Why not just confirm it as a bug or man up and say it was removed in preparation for x y z. Truly it is a small thing but is yet another situation where ED just ignores what it wishes to. ED seems to have so many minion tester who's contributions to the sim I fully appreciate, but.... How about leverage those minions who are all over the forums to actually spread information rather than ask people to chill and wait for the great eagle to poop something tasty? Crazy idea I know
  13. 14. Yes since that patch and still. When I enable the mod in ovgme and then rem out a camera....all I see is open ocean when I hit alt f9 In VR its fine.
  15. completely broken it seems in the latest update. pri balcony just puts you off in space
  16. Jedi pit all prepped painted and being installed. Room a mess and using the old seat cushion which will be replaced. This is a very well designed pit....well done Jedi if you're still out there! More to follow...
  17. Wait what!!!?? Everyone prefers the F-18 because it has a normal hud!? More like they fly the Hornet because in comparison it is easy and requires little true pilot abilities. Who really needs a hud for landing? Mine is so dusty post F-14 I would need a tractor to pull it out of the hangar. But...to each his own.
  18. To revive this...my pit construction is underway. CNC was not cheap, but a huge time saver. Currently at the stage of veneering the exposed plywood edges. Then final putty where needed and sanding and then time to paint. In retrospect I wish I would have done this in MDF. Current Akers Barnes https://www.cmosphoto.com/Stuff/Simpit/DCS-PIT/n-D75QNm/ New Construction https://www.cmosphoto.com/Stuff/Simpit/Pit20/n-BF3Xgd/i-rCJJ97V More to come..
  19. I'll meet you in Walligford and buy you a beer as well to pick mine up! I am just down in Stratford.
  20. Sorry....Pure oversimplified nonsense. Grumman designed the bird to the fleet defense requirements but by no means was dog fighting not first and foremost in its designer's minds and results. I grew up in a Grumman family and town and what you state is patently false. It is not the Tie Fighter Top Gun would have you believe, but it is by no means an average dogfighter, any more than an F15 or Su. It requires a PILOT to FLY it with skills and does not have the FBW aids so many have come to know and love here in our sim world. Actual stick and rudder understanding and skill is widely lacking in the sim world as evidenced by the questions and often pontificating comments relating to the flight model and performance and dog fight topic all over the net. Therefore people are feeling like the Tomcat has somehow let them down when it is in many ways just the opposite.
  21. Like cvw-8 just went poof!!!!
