The web page still says pre-purchase, and at discount, so they still have to update that before the module is released, the problem with speculating is that 99% of the time, you're wrong LOL
-
hmmmmm the DCS updater utility by Skate Zilla is now throwing up an error, it was fine 45 mins ago.. not a good time to have something go wrong.....or somethings happening in the background for it to crash.. I wonder ??
-
That DCS updater by Skatezilla is getting beasted by the sounds of it !! I wonder how many people have not even gone to sleep yet? It's 0951 here in Baghdad, I'm not expecting it to be available till after 1500 Local, and then the torrents and servers will be in meltdown, and the complaints will be inevitable too. Spare a thought for the poor Aussies, their day's almost almost over!!
-
Yes there is, Wags has showcased the new Caucus maps in the F18, as well as the Normandy map.
-
Youngster!! I'm 55 going on 27, and every bit as excited for the release, been a massive ED fan since Flanker days. I'm overseas in Baghdad just now, as a security contractor, brought my HOTAS shit with me this time purely to get up to speed on the F18, as far as I'm aware, I will not have any missions, so I'm hoping to see the release around 1600 Local ... then the room door is getting locked!!
-
Ditto, makes no odds if it's pushed more to the right either, all good things come to those who wait... Patience is a virtue ...blah blah blah.
-
LOL, there's going to be some seriously unhappy campers about the switch of modules, it's still within the official time frame Wag's stated, so no massive biggie.. I'd rather have a delayed released, with things working, than one that the community itself pressured for the release of same module, and things were still broken. At least it will end all the speculative release date threads, and cryptic messages that were never there to begin with.
-
Yep, that's it, I couldn't recall the FS number, built a couple of the older Hasegawa 1/72 scale F18's in my younger days :D
-
The only F/A-18 video I will make.... till it's released

Brilliant!! -
Didn't the RCAF have darker colours on their F18's? I seem to recall back in the 90's a visit to Prestwick Airshow, of an RCAF F18, alongside a USN F18, and they definitely looked different, the Canuk version darker.
-
They've existed in every other module, why would they skip this one?? :megalol: It's not much difference to whining about who was lucky enough to be chosen by ED to showcase their products, let them have their fun, it doesn't all have to be serious. It's an alpha product, so things will be constantly evolving, things will be fixed, things will get broken when being fixed, people will whine about the need for a ferrari GPU to showcase the product in all its glory.. it's just human nature unfortunately
-
Once again, the folded wings flight was a request from THEIR followers.. It appears You're constantly bitching and moaning because you didn't get access to the early release press release of the F18 and Persian Gulf map, perhaps if you were a prominent youtuber, you too might have had the privilege of being invited to showcase the new modules ? Sour grapes are in abundances towards many of those press release candidates, it's petty and even more irritating than slamming their video's. Have some dignity and patience, and accept that like 99% of those of us who also purchased these addons, are ALL in the same boat, and will await the official press release from ED, there's no point in slamming people who were invited by ED to showcase their product for simply having some fun.
-
You answered the question within your own question. :smilewink:
-
Hmmmm and the next big question would be what time zone would this release be done, considering ED is based in Moscow, would it be CET (Central European Time) ?? Lots of people getting excited over what May or may not happen :D
-
fair play to you mate, lets all agree, that it's the most anticipated addon from DCS yet, there will be the usual griping, but it's an alpha release, the final product could be 12-16 months off, so lets be thankful of early releases!
-
Sounds an awful lot like "sour grapes" ??? Seriously, since when has it been a prerequisite to be an SME on any sort of aircraft to be able to appeal to their general audience? Care to name the "half" that don't know jack? :music_whistling:

The template won't be released until the module is released.

There's a lot of things that can happen in 31 days.. let's see if it happens or not?
-
Developers have their personal time off too guys, not everyone works the weekend, normal office hours across Europe are Monday to Friday 0800/0900-1700, you can't expect to return a faulty good if the shops closed can you? It's a bummer that they trashed the map, I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say they probably are working over the weekend, but isolating where the error is, might not be that straight forwards ? It's one of these "Patience is a virtue" moments..

VFA 15 Valions, low viz scheme, with the light coloured lion rampant, and the dark grey/black tail stripe, can't link a pic as google is being a fud!!

In other words, you purchased the module in error, without realising you needed the base game.. And that you didn't actually read the base module requirements into the bargain? it sure does prove the uniqueness of individuals that leap before looking :smilewink: And to be fair, I've done the very same thing myself, as in not looking at the basic requirements needed, felt like a proper mong when I asked for a refund for a game that doesn't work, only to be told, it's an addon sir, you need the base game installed for it to work.. had to dip my hands in my pocket and buy that too.. I think it was the old Fleet Defender game too, where you got to fly the F14. -
You're a brave man committing to updating to 2.5 right now, the latest update trashed all the buildings in Nevada, and there's issues activating products due to the new security settings. It's maybe worth hanging off till they fix the Nevada map, unless you're too eager to cross over, ED are on the case like a tramp on chips, but could be several more days before Nevada is fixed up. as BIGNEWY said, doesn't matter how many times you stop and start, it simply picks up from where it left off, such is the beauty of torrents :D

no, the paid product is the paid product, not part of, dosn't matter how many modules you buy, the bottom line is the base game is FREE, how difficult is this to fathom? The map will always be the free part, any other addon will always be the purchased product, even if it relies on the base product. Normandy and NTTR are classic examples of paid products, of which I believe the last 2 modules were needed, as they were both released under version2.0 (also in alpha) people bought them to offer variations, same with the modules, doesn't matter how much spin you try and put on it DCS is a free product, you are only paying for your own benefit, nobody else's, you pick and chose which products you wish to use, on the free map, or you purchase the other terrains as well. To say it doesn't matter what they downloaded shows how asinine you're comments are becoming. Would you really download a DLC for a game that you don't have the base installed? I personally doubt anyone would download a DLC without first testing the base product, it makes no sense at all. -

Did they buy the modules prior to downloading the FREE map? I think you will find that most users would have downloaded the base item, ie the FREE map first, and checked it out for performance issues, and graphics etc before thinking "I like this, it looks really uber, now I'm going to go and buy x, y and z module, to give me more variants to fly" It's not looking at it in an inverted way, buying a module for a game without checking it's actually worth it is pretty stupid IMHO, I see countless people posting that 2.5 is unplayable, because their systems are just not up to it, and then they blame ED for upgrading their product?? -

Which build is the current version? pretty sure it's still "beta" What was the last module released for DCS? AV8? How long ago was that release? Is it still being worked on and is it the final build, bearing in mind it was also an early release ie, NOT the finished product. It stands to reason that modules being currently worked on are geared towards the current, and future releases, I've never known an addon in ANY game that's geared towards legacy builds, as opposed to current builds. Your "so there !!" point is actually quite moot.
