  1. Yeah, that thread is almost as long as the DK2 thread on the Elite:Dangerous forums.:(
  2. Aha. Cheers man! YAAY! Its like finding money in an old pair of jeans you forgot about!!
  3. Sure. I've just remembered I backed the DCS:WW2 kickstarter for £30 or something. Need to figure out how I claim my war birds. :pilotfly:
  4. Haha. When I get the Nevada terrain I've been waiting for since the beta of DCS:A-10, I'll buy everything!
  5. I know it's maybe a dumb question but I've not been on these forums for a while and there is a sale on. Is there more content? Is the FM improved, etc.? Or is it just independent of the FC3 install palaver?
  6. Getting back into DCS after a long hiatus, now with a DK2 strapped to my bonce, I've a few questions; I can get it all working okay, but the in-flight pause menus doesn't work in the dk2 so I have to use task manager to get back to the DCS start menu. Is there a workaround? (or is that the workaround :smilewink:) Are you DK2 users super sampling from 2560x1440 down to 1080P to improve text legibility? That works wonders in Elite: Dangerous, but I couldn't tell the difference in DCS. After using TrackIR for years I never realised how SMALL the Ka50 cockpit is! Its tiny!! Awesome feeling of being there though. Much better than TrackIR even in lo res.
  7. Okay, I've sussed it. After some digging I noticed that in the default monitor setup lua files the abris and Shkval exports are now called LEFT_MFCD and RIGHT_MFCD. When I installed and used easy monitor configurator, it did some clever aliasing of these names which got screwed on the patch update. Once I renamed them back to default its all good again. Phew. You live and learn! Now back to flying.
  8. It’s done it again! With the last mini patch! Using JSGME, I have my mods packaged. As Mad Tommy, I disable mods, patch and re-enable mods. Everything back on as far as mods go, (texture mods, etc.. and my controls indicator on 2nd monitor tweak), except the damn Abris & Shkval export has broken again. I checked the; ..Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\ViewportHandling.lua And as it’s saved by JSGME, it’s restored post patch, (--render_purpose. GENERAL, is commented out). But it’s being ignored. They are being rendered in-pit still. Are there multiple copies of that file?
  9. Hah, Hyperlobby! That was it. Looks like I've hit a bit if a nerve here. C'mon ED, show multiplayer some lovin' (sorry sith. didn't see your post)
  10. Now that the Game front end GUI is getting some love, can you please take a crack at the multiplayer server browser if you have any paint left over? We had a great MP session on BS2 last night but it was hampered by the ever clunky, ever flakey DCS MP server browser. It’s been around for a long long time and reminds me of a Quake 2 era effort, (which is why people all started using All Seeing Eye / Gamespy, etc. back In the day before Wolfenstein 2 came out with a lean clean browser). Last night I threw my toys out of the pram; Can’t save favourite servers Can’t filter servers at all Weird inconsistent Font sizes and alignment Cursor changes from white arrow to almost invisible text cursor intermittently. Yes its better than F4/BMS browser but that’s not saying a lot. At least I can save favourites there. Unless everyone else is use a new 3rd party browser and I’m the only one left using this? :helpsmilie: (there was that IL2 / F4 3rd party browser that i cant remember the name of, but that was ages ago).
  11. Works for me. Cheers buedi (rep inbound). The MFD's weren't appearing in my device manager as the MS article describes as the on/off action was happening too fast, but I identified them in the registry as two VID's had sequential ending numbers, (351 & 352 for me). I disabled power management to all child instances in those VID keys and POOF, the MFD's now stay on! Rock and Roll!
  12. TM said they are "waiting" for a response from MS over a week ago. Did they write them a letter and post it by hand? I will try the task-bar hack, (but I dont want to brick my MFD's), as playing BS2 & A-10c and BMS for that matter without the MFD's is a massive backwards step for me. Apart from that, 8.1 hasn't put a foot wrong for me.
  13. I don't see why we cant do better, never mind match it. Its not like we are ancient Britons, scratching our beards in awe at the ruins of a Roman aqueduct wondering how they got water to run uphill. The F4.0 campaign engine was programmed on PC's that has less computing power than most peoples phones after all. The fact that it had only 1 year of patches before being killed off left it open to criticism. Compare that to the years of patching & development other franchises get, (DCS, ROF, etc).
  14. I wonder if the guy who did the F4 campaign engine is looking for work. I used to love dropping into squadrons and cherry picking missions, as well as taking advantage of areas cleared of AA in earlier missions to frag strikes. Once ED get ground radar working they will have one less excuse ;)......
  15. Its late and I cant figure it out or find the answer on the forum search. I'm sure its dead simple.
  16. I'm not sure mate. I've been talking to my MS account rep at work as we have a few machines we need to update to 8.1, (bought with OEM win8 on). And we have had to do the "dance" to update our test PC's. We use WSUS to update machines internally and I'm waiting for 8.1 to appear on that but I'm getting confused messages from MS. They apparently are treating 8.1 as a new OS and not an update or a SP. this would mean no update.exe, only a full .ISO to volume license customers and any machines bought with 8 preinstalled have to do the dance through the store. I will update when I get confirmation.
  17. After the last DCS update and now this one, my multi monitor setup has been reset to defaults again. My custom monitor config file wasn’t touched, but is being ignored. It’s still selected in the main game options, along with my custom resolution and aspect ratio. And yet my Shkval and ABRIS were back on my main monitor only. My control indicator position was reset to default but I edited that back in “ControlsIndicator.lua” My Shkval and ABRIS are set to render on a second monitor. The commented out line, “--render_purpose.GENERAL,” in “ViewportHandling.Lua” was reset but I commented it out again. This stopped in cockpit rendering but still no ABRIS and SHKVAL on 2nd monitor. My custom config, selected In game was still being ignored. It is explicitly selected in “options.lua” I ran “Easy monitor setup” again, and generated a new monitor config, copied my backed up settings, renamed new file to old name and reloaded. It worked. EMC has edited something else. Something I’ve forgotten. Something else was being edited or cached. Any ideas? Another file I’ve not listed? I don’t want to go through this dance on every update. I realise I don't have a standard setup but I’ve not exactly got an exotic setup either, ( 2 x monitors, ABRIS and SHKVAL on 2nd screen with controls indicator).
  18. That all sounds like a lot of work to make windows 8 look like windows 7. Like a steampunk PC case in brass and polished wood. The only bits of the old start button anyone ever used are still there (winkey+x). Did anyone ever use the crappy expanding mega lists of apps that always folded up just when you were about to click on something?
  19. You can boot straight to desktop with 8.1 but Metro screen cant be disabled. Think of it as your "what's going on in the world" page. Mine has all social media / news pages with live tiles. pretty useful. I look at it once In a while. Like RSS feeds on steroids. You can only get a standalone installer update if you have win 8 enterprise. For everyone else its the MS store. (you need to be fully updated with 8 then the 8.1 update appears In the store).
  20. Did it work? And did it work after a reboot?
  21. Weirdly, every 2 seconds or so the lights come back on along with the "bingbong" USB device noise from Windows, so the port is switching on and off constantly. Not good for the MFD's I would imagine. Mine are unplugged until there's a patch. This must be affecting a lot of passive USB devices though, (hopefully). The more, the faster the patch will appear,
  22. You may also need to turn of power saving on each USB hub in device manager, or at least the hub with the MFD's connected. I will try this.
  23. Nah, its way faster, and apart from metro, which is pointless on PC, the desktop is better too
  24. I doubt you've done any damage. Win 8.1 did the same to mine. And TrackIR and my 2nd monitor went on the blink Removing and uninstalling the MFD's and reinstalling trackIR sorted out that and the monitor issue. My MFD's are unplugged until TM get off their arses and update the driver or there's an MS patch. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1_pr-hardware/thrustmaster-mfd-cougar-problem-in-windows-81/ff1dd578-b265-4b1c-9ac1-7914c61f16ae I had just got back into BS and was using the MFD's all the time as well! Doh.
  25. ..and the patched mission has zero gun ammo! No way to answer the distress calls.
