Yes but surely that means that at 100% throttle fwd movement you are only getting 85% in game? bye bye afterburners?

A BUG/WIP list so we know what's been reported
coolts replied to BlueAngel's topic in Bugs and Problems
Aye, I fired 2 x Sparrows at an An-26 (or some other Russian twin prop) within Rne and it went defensive, (like an oil tanker goes defensive) and both missiles went ballistic and missed, all while I had radar lock well within gimbals. An Aim-9 spared my blushes! I hope the Aim-7 gets an eye test soon! -
Its not throw, (at least on the TM Warthog), as the difference between gaining and losing altitude whilst on speed AOA is about 2cm of travel on my throttle. It's engine response for me at least. The hornet engines as currently modelled make the A-10 seem quick to respond. I'm constantly wallowing during final approach and over-compensating. I'll get used to it....Then have to re-learn when patched. All part of the beta fun! It was the same during A-10 beta. It's only frustrating when we don't know whether its WAD and a "training issue" or its a WIP feature and we'd just better live with it for now.

Wrong viewports on second screen
coolts replied to coolts's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Based on standard "3 cameras.lua". "," after each section copied from original. I don't believe they were used back on 1.0 the last time I did any of this stuff. Interestingly the commented out section at the bottom seems to indicate ED have a new way of doing this but the example isn't complete. _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Colins Setup'); Description = 'Configuration with 3 identical monitors each with its own camera' Viewports = { Center = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 2560; height = 1440; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.77777; }, LEFT_MFCD = { x = 960; y = 300; width = 960; height = 600; }, RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 960; height = 1200; } } UIMainView = Viewports.Center --[[ also you can use "displays" table to perfectly match you configuration . it is generated by DCS automatically. displays table is contains information about all currently attached displays for example my setup is : displays = { [1] = { x = 0, -- note : x == 0 and y == 0 is always mark primary windows display y = 0, width = 2560, height = 1440 }, [2] = { x = -1920, -- mark that secondary display is on left side of primary display y = 0, width = 1920, height = 1200 }, ... for all displays } screen table also contain x, y members which mark top left corner of DCS window note about fullscreen : directx doesn't allow fullscreen applications with resolutions more than primary display can handle, so multimonitor presets in DCS will fall back to windowed mode if fullscreen initialization failed ( this info also will be printed to dcs.log) for reconfigure viewports setup for each unit type independently you can declare here function function reconfigure_for_unit(unit_type) --unit type is string with unit name if unit_type == "A-10C" then Viewports = ... define new Viewports table -- also you can define cockpit displays viewports here RIGHT_MFCD = ... define new RIGHT_MFCD viewport else Viewports = ... define default for others RIGHT_MFCD = nil -- remove for others end end --]] -
I've been getting back into dcs with 2.5 and forgotten all I knew about multi monitor setup. I've managed to get my own .lua outputting shkval and abris to second monitor (left_mfcd & right_mfcd), but they all show copies of the main cockpit view, not what they're supposed to. Not got code handy but thought someone might know what I've done wrong? Oh and what do you call the controller view( rt-ctrl +enter) in .lua speak? In the shark, that's handy to have on 2nd screen too. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Has anyone got it working? Been away a while and I recall it being a right faff going back to BS 1.0. Had a go yesterday and it won't even recognise my custom monitor config. Is it just a beta thing or me being rusty? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

[MERGED] Normandy Map and WWII ASSETS, Not in Module Manager
coolts replied to coolts's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
Ah, that'll be it then. Cheers! -
I have the keys for terrain and assets as a kickstarter backer. I've not fired up DCS in over a year and have "open alpha" installed. I updated this and the Spitfire module popped up which i installed but i cant see how to get the Normandy terrain or ww2 assets. They don't show in module manager. What am i doing wrong? From the e-shop "This product can be downloaded and installed through the DCS World Module Manager."

Cool. I will try it. Cheers!

Yeah, that thread is almost as long as the DK2 thread on the Elite:Dangerous forums.:(
-
Aha. Cheers man! YAAY! Its like finding money in an old pair of jeans you forgot about!!
-
Sure. I've just remembered I backed the DCS:WW2 kickstarter for £30 or something. Need to figure out how I claim my war birds. :pilotfly:
-
Haha. When I get the Nevada terrain I've been waiting for since the beta of DCS:A-10, I'll buy everything!
-
I know it's maybe a dumb question but I've not been on these forums for a while and there is a sale on. Is there more content? Is the FM improved, etc.? Or is it just independent of the FC3 install palaver?

Getting back into DCS after a long hiatus, now with a DK2 strapped to my bonce, I've a few questions; I can get it all working okay, but the in-flight pause menus doesn't work in the dk2 so I have to use task manager to get back to the DCS start menu. Is there a workaround? (or is that the workaround :smilewink:) Are you DK2 users super sampling from 2560x1440 down to 1080P to improve text legibility? That works wonders in Elite: Dangerous, but I couldn't tell the difference in DCS. After using TrackIR for years I never realised how SMALL the Ka50 cockpit is! Its tiny!! Awesome feeling of being there though. Much better than TrackIR even in lo res.

Okay, I've sussed it. After some digging I noticed that in the default monitor setup lua files the abris and Shkval exports are now called LEFT_MFCD and RIGHT_MFCD. When I installed and used easy monitor configurator, it did some clever aliasing of these names which got screwed on the patch update. Once I renamed them back to default its all good again. Phew. You live and learn! Now back to flying.

It’s done it again! With the last mini patch! Using JSGME, I have my mods packaged. As Mad Tommy, I disable mods, patch and re-enable mods. Everything back on as far as mods go, (texture mods, etc.. and my controls indicator on 2nd monitor tweak), except the damn Abris & Shkval export has broken again. I checked the; ..Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\ViewportHandling.lua And as it’s saved by JSGME, it’s restored post patch, (--render_purpose. GENERAL, is commented out). But it’s being ignored. They are being rendered in-pit still. Are there multiple copies of that file?

Hah, Hyperlobby! That was it. Looks like I've hit a bit if a nerve here. C'mon ED, show multiplayer some lovin' (sorry sith. didn't see your post)

Now that the Game front end GUI is getting some love, can you please take a crack at the multiplayer server browser if you have any paint left over? We had a great MP session on BS2 last night but it was hampered by the ever clunky, ever flakey DCS MP server browser. It’s been around for a long long time and reminds me of a Quake 2 era effort, (which is why people all started using All Seeing Eye / Gamespy, etc. back In the day before Wolfenstein 2 came out with a lean clean browser). Last night I threw my toys out of the pram; Can’t save favourite servers Can’t filter servers at all Weird inconsistent Font sizes and alignment Cursor changes from white arrow to almost invisible text cursor intermittently. Yes its better than F4/BMS browser but that’s not saying a lot. At least I can save favourites there. Unless everyone else is use a new 3rd party browser and I’m the only one left using this? :helpsmilie: (there was that IL2 / F4 3rd party browser that i cant remember the name of, but that was ages ago).

Works for me. Cheers buedi (rep inbound). The MFD's weren't appearing in my device manager as the MS article describes as the on/off action was happening too fast, but I identified them in the registry as two VID's had sequential ending numbers, (351 & 352 for me). I disabled power management to all child instances in those VID keys and POOF, the MFD's now stay on! Rock and Roll!
-
TM said they are "waiting" for a response from MS over a week ago. Did they write them a letter and post it by hand? I will try the task-bar hack, (but I dont want to brick my MFD's), as playing BS2 & A-10c and BMS for that matter without the MFD's is a massive backwards step for me. Apart from that, 8.1 hasn't put a foot wrong for me.

I don't see why we cant do better, never mind match it. Its not like we are ancient Britons, scratching our beards in awe at the ruins of a Roman aqueduct wondering how they got water to run uphill. The F4.0 campaign engine was programmed on PC's that has less computing power than most peoples phones after all. The fact that it had only 1 year of patches before being killed off left it open to criticism. Compare that to the years of patching & development other franchises get, (DCS, ROF, etc).
-
I wonder if the guy who did the F4 campaign engine is looking for work. I used to love dropping into squadrons and cherry picking missions, as well as taking advantage of areas cleared of AA in earlier missions to frag strikes. Once ED get ground radar working they will have one less excuse ;)......
