If your running 2-3 monitors, metro makes sense on the desktop. Once you get your apps setup with the live tiles the old desktop feels..............static.......dead..

I got my trackIR working with new beta driver but my TM Warthog keeps cutting out when I run TARGET. Anyone had that? ps. Doubt there will be anymore client service packs for windows. No win7 one planned that's for sure

SoftTH with trackIR default zoom/FOV is too close
coolts replied to coolts's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Cheers Peter. I've read your excellent guides. I've edited the min/max fov and set the default between them so its all good now, (apart form 15fps, but thats another days tweaking ;). ..is all fine The last slight annoyance is that on entering the cockpit, the camera does a slow "Hitchcock Vertigo" camera pull shot. Very annoying. It's done this for ages. Trouble is that it "settles" way back from my new default so when i hit numpad enter the camera jumps. Is this pull back hard coded? -
New to SoftTH and using DCSW 1.2.1
coolts replied to coolts's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Default head position way to zoomed in. Even mapping my throttle slider to "zoom", i have to have it all the way back. Any way to edit the default head z axis? i dont really want to mess with trackIR. Also, 'esc' menu doesnt work, (may be a general DCS bug), as cursor is white -
After a night of faffing and nothing working there was a eureka moment in the shower “you’ve got a x64 OS doofus, use the 64bit version of SoftTH”, it works now. YAY. Now one thing before I settle into a serious “getting to know you” session in 1.2.1 with lovely 3 monitor loveliness, (smug ). Do I need to faff with FOV settings? I did in BMS, but haven’t seen anyting in the ED forums about that. Setup is 2 x 24” (1920x1200) flanking a 27” (2560x1440) monitors, full cockpit view.

Take On Helicopter - New game by Bohemia Interactive
coolts replied to Eight Ball's topic in Chit-Chat
I cant get on with it. On advanced FM mode i flop all over the place, and the trim is unstable. (not to mention taking off results in rocketing backwards and flipping over without massive trim), Ive had discussions on their forums but not a satisfactory one IMO so have stopped playing until the big patch comes out. going to the beginner/basic FM seems to miss the point to me. And i'm not just being a helo n00b as i can fly the shark pretty well for a capitalist imperialist pigdog -
I totally get that. I was just wondering if you bother to get an "x marks the spot" visual reference on your TAD, (and if so, is my suggestion the best way), in the general location of these threats to help you; Thread the needle to get to your primary and out again Take them out if you care to and have spare ordnance A bit like the preplanned threats on Falcon HSD. I find that very useful. ps. 20k? What are you? DCS:747? I can't see the lovely tree shadows from way up there ;)
-
When Jtac gives threat locations relative to target, do you simply have that in your head when ingressing so you know where to expect trouble or do you mark the general location on the TAD? I was thinking of placing a mark point in the general area given by JTAC for threats, then switching to the steerpoint dial Markpoint mode and either tasking 2nd element with SAM suppression using the datalink or treating these locations as secondary targets once my primary was smoking. It could get a bit fiddly though. And can you still see JTAC red triangle in Markpoint mode, (not at home to test right now).

"reset shkval" (slaps forehead). Yep, forgot about that as well! Bloody hell, when the next DCS module comes out i'm going to need a reverse lobotomy to rememeber everything.

Cheers Dragon I doubt we even turned the radios on ;) Teamspeak laziness
-
Guys Am coming back to BS with the new update and am a little rusty. In an MP flight, (two one ship flights), we can see each other on ABRIS,(me commander, him wingman), and we have different ID’s but we can’t share targets. I’ve read that we must use the same “Data link frequency”. Is this just the radio frequency or is there another dedicated data link radio panel I have overlooked? That makes sense and is something we sometimes forget as we use TeamSpeak.

It makes a lot of sense to iterate the Flaming Cliffs brand after each new DCS module to maintain compatability and upgrade the engine. Then swap out each basic FM plane with its AFM DCS counterpart. (if you want to). Lets face it boys & gals, who here will NOT want to scream out of Nellis AFB in an F-15 in full AB to intercept a flight of Migs flying cover for bombers threatening Vegas. At night. ;) In a thunderstorm. :pilotfly:

Patch 1.1.1.0 for DCS: A-10C Warthog (English) Released
coolts replied to pvtkramer's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hah, don’t underestimate the sheer inventiveness, downright sneakiness and utter backhanded disregard for the accepted rules of engagement of your average common or garden persecuted underdog who has 12 laser guided missile, a moveable cannon and a very large chip on their shoulder. There will be some very creative murder taking place I will wager. Having said all that, mines the hog. ;) -

all working now. all praise the new installer! now i need to learn to fly the shark again. what does this big red button do?.............
-
There are not enough hours in the day. Flaming Cliffs got me back into sims but I was still mainly a RTS/XXXX guy, then Black shark comes out. That got me into A-10, and then I bought Cliffs of Dover. Hmmmm. it’s not ready yet, so I got Rise of Flight. Can’t shoot for crap but very very nice. Then BMS came out and Falcon came back from the dead. Now BS2 and Take on Helicopters. MS Flight in the works, DLC upcoming for ToH. A Fixed CloD (hopefully). Dynamic campaigns in ROF, (assuming I ever learn to shoot in those old crates), and then DCS-NEXT. Phew. 2012 is going to be a good year for flight simmers IMO.

Downloaded new installer & 3 x BIN files. Different from last weeks files that's for sure. Lets see tonight. If i see "Black Shark must be installed" ONE MORE TIME! it wil be my PC that demonstrates an advanced flight model and not the KA-50
-
Eihort - did it work? Nomdeplume - I saw that all 4 download files are now different than they were last week. I will re-download from work where i've got a fast internet connection. Fingers crossed. Never had this issue with A-10 and i've upgraded / reinstalled every version since the first beta. I have faith ;)

.....and do what with it? "the file "bs2_upgrade_setup_en-1.bin" could not be located"... my files are called "bs2_patch_setup_en-1.bin" this is......frustrating i get the feeling....... time for bed...in the morning this will all have been a dream...
